This document is for the person who installs, administers, and troubleshoots servers and storage systems. HP assumes you are qualified in servicing computer equipment and trained in recognizing hazards in products with hazardous energy levels.

The HP ProLiant ML350 G4p Storage Server is preloaded with the Windows Storage Server 2003 operating system. Prior to power up, deployment instructions found in the User Guide should be followed to enable the successful configuration of the storage server in addition to the guidelines found below. Required Items: Storage Server User Guide Storage Server Administration Guide To begin the first-time startup procedure: Be sure that the server is safely installed in an adequate environment. Be sure that the power cables and peripheral devices are plugged in and AC power is supplied to the server. Refer to the Storage Server User Guide prior to powering up the server. Item Description

Installing a storage server (tower)
Follow the steps in this section to set up a tower model server.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or damage to the equipment, do not plug telephone or telecommunications connectors into RJ-45 connectors.

Rack option

A separate rack mount kit is required to install this storage server into a rack. For information download the HP ProLiant ML350 Generation 4p Server User Guide on the documentation CD or visit us at:

Connect network cable and any peripheral devices to the server. Connect the power cord to the back of the server. Connect the power cord to the AC power source.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to the equipment:
Do not disable the power cord grounding plug. The grounding plug is an important safety feature. Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) electrical outlet that is easily accessible at all times. Unplug the power cord from the power supply to disconnect power to the equipment.

HP ProLiant ML350 G4p Storage Server
The HP ProLiant ML350 G4p Storage Server is a powerful NAS solution that has been designed for small to medium business (SMB) or remote offices deploying file, print, and/or Exchange storage. The versatile design supports either SCSI- or SATA-based models, providing both high performance and high reliability with the SCSI-based models, or SATA models that provide high capacity and a lower price. Options include a second processor and redundant power and cooling. The ML350 G4p Storage Server can provide up to 1.8 TB of storage. The unit comes preconfigured with the Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003. The ML 350 G4p includes Integrated Lights Out (iLO) and remote management capabilities in all models.

The HP ProLiant ML350 G4p Storage Server is a tower Storage Server designed for the SMB market and fits between the ML110 G2 and ML370 G4 Storage Server products. The ML350 G4p is a very versatile Storage Server with high performance, high capacity SCSI-based models or high capacity, lower price SATA-based models. The ML350 G4p Storage Server now includes Integrated Light Outs (iLO) with an Advanced License pack allowing remote management anywhere, anytime.
