Description

This release includes updated rmware for the HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 Tape Autoloader. The Autoloader rmware can be updated through any of the following methods: Remote management interface (RMI). Operator control panel (OCP). HP Library and Tape Tools (L&TT). Autoloader rmware version 2.10 Update recommendation Recommended Supersedes All earlier versions of Autoloader rmware.

Enhancements

Support added for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). Support added for the 1/8 G2 and MSL Encryption Kit, which is a solution for generating and storing encryption keys to write and restore encrypted data on LTO-4 media with LTO-4 tape drives. Support added for the Ultrium 1760 parallel SCSI half-height tape drive. Support added for SNMP version 2. Ability to save and restore the Autoloader conguration settings to a USB ash drive (from the OCP) or a le (from the RMI).
Fixed a case where the Autoloader could appear unresponsive when used with network security programs that constantly check the security status of all network ports. Usually Drive Communication (code: F1 xx) errors were the last entries in the autoloader logs. Fixed a case where the Autoloader could appear unresponsive after the operator issued a command from the OCP to remove a magazine but the magazine was not removed. Fixed a case where the time stamp in the autoloader logs would be recorded as one day earlier than the Autoloader time. Fixed a case where error retry Code (setting of sled motor parameters failed) was incorrectly logged during the power up sequence. Fixed a case where error code 9B (sled position sensor not found) was reported at ambient temperatures below 10 C when the mailslot did not pop out more than 15 mm. Fixed a case where the Autoloader would report Not Ready after running the Demo Test. Improved an error message in the Wellness test when a corner slot is empty. The Autoloader temperature is now reported on LOG SENSE page 0x0D. Fixed a case where the Autoloader could not detect when the mailslot was closed very quickly.
Installation instructions
To upgrade rmware from the RMI: 1. Download current rmware using HP Library & Tape Tools or from the HP support website: http://www.hp.com/support/storage. 2. Log into the RMI as the administrator user. 3. In the Support: Firmware page, browse to the location of the Autoloader rmware le. 4. Click Update. To upgrade rmware from the OCP using a USB ash drive: 1. Download current rmware using HP Library & Tape Tools or from the HP support website: http://www.hp.com/support/storage. Copy the rmware onto the USB ash drive. 2. Insert the USB ash drive into the USB port on the back of the Autoloader. 3. From the Home screen, press Next until the screen displays Support. Press Enter to select. 4. Press Next until the screen displays Autoloader FW upgrade. Press Enter to select. 5. Enter the administrator password if prompted. 6. Press Next until the screen displays the lename of the Autoloader rmware le on the USB drive. Press Enter to select the rmware le. 7. If the upgrade failed, press Enter to display the error code and message describing the cause of the failure. 8. When the upgrade is complete, remove the USB ash drive from the USB port.

To nd the version of rmware installed on the Autoloader from the RMI, see the Support: Firmware screen. To nd the version of rmware installed on the Autoloader from the OCP: 1. From the Home screen, press Next until the screen displays Status/Information. Press Enter to select. 2. Press Next until the screen displays Autoloader information. Press Enter to select. 3.
