Outstanding laptop!!! I use an 8730w on a daily basis. It is an outstanding, if slightly overpriced laptop. DONT BUY A LAPTOP FROM HP Here is my experience with HP: May 2009 - Bought Laptop from HP website - List Price - $2400 Sept. Magnificent Machine! It was a sad day when my trusty traveling companion of four years, my HP ZD7000 finally had to be retired.

Enhancements

Added support for AQ746A, the HP StorageWorks MSL Library Extender Kit, which supports the following configurations: MSL8096 hosting an MSL4048 (144 slots) MSL8096 hosting an MSL2024 (120 slots) MSL4048 hosting an MSL4048 (96 slots) MSL4048 hosting an MSL2024 (72 slots) Allow release of all magazines to be executed from the Administrator RMI login from the Operations: Magazines screen. This feature was not available from the administrator login level in previous releases. The serial number, IEEE identifier, and WWID are now stored in the EEPROM to ensure retention of this unique product identifier information.
Fixed a case where the HP Event Logs displayed by HP Library and Tape Tools (LTT) would not decode the high level events. Instead, the phrase <No test available for event id xx>
was displayed. This issue was introduced by firmware version 9.10 and is corrected by version 9.20. Fixed a case where System Error Dcould be returned during a drive firmware upgrade when the final package from the download file was not a full package. Fixed a case where loading a tape cartridge into the Library resulted in an error message when the Library did not fully insert the cartridge in the tape drive. In version 9.10, an FDrive Load Timeout error was reported. For older versions of Library firmware, the error messages could be Invalid cartridge or Incompatible media. Fixed a case where the right-side magazines would not unlock when requested. Corrected the mailslot handling when more than one mailslot is open. The Library will now scan each mailslot immediately after the mailslot is closed. Fixed a case where the Library could appear unresponsive after stepping through the trace data from the RMI Support: Library Logs page. If the Standard Trace option is selected, after using the Next tab to step thru the Standard Trace data, the Autoloader will eventually enter a state where the RMI, OCP and Library data interface fail to respond to commands. This problem could occur for other selections if they contain enough display data. Fixed a case where the % complete status was not updated on the RMI or OCP when an invetory scan was reinitiated after the initial inventory, which occurs during power on and after the Autoloader is ready. Updated the message displayed on the RMI Configure: Security page when encryption is enabled and an LTO4 tape drive is replaced with an LTO3 tape drive. The message was updated from No encryption support Ultrium 4 drive fw upgrade required to No encryption support Ultrium 4 drive required. An error message is now displayed in the OCP when a Library with two power supplies is powered on while one of the power supply fans is blocked rotating.

Compatibility note

When using firmware version 9.10 or newer revisions with the Encryption Kit, any key server tokens set with an odd number of characters for the PIN will not be totally backwards compatible in Autoloaders or Libraries with code revisions 2.10, 4.00, 6.30, or 8.70. In those cases, a token in an Autoloader or Library with 2.10, 4.00, 6.30, or 8.70 firmware revisions will be able to accept the PIN for the token and access keys on the token, but the user will not be able to change the PIN on the token, save the keys to a file, or restore the keys from a file until the Autoloader or Library firmware is upgraded. Users should always upgrade to the latest version of firmware to ensure complete compatibility.

HP StorageWorks MSL8096 Tape Library rmware release notes

Firmware version 8.90

Part number: AK382-96006 First edition: August 1,
Legal and notice information Copyright 2008 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.

Version:

Description
This release includes updated rmware for the HP StorageWorks MSL8096 Tape Library. The rmware can be updated through any of the following methods: Remote management interface (RMI). Operator control panel (OCP). HP Library and Tape Tools (L&TT). Library rmware version 8.90 Update recommendation Recommended Supersedes All previous versions of Library rmware.

Languages

Enhancements

Enhancements implemented between 8.50 and 8.90: Support added for Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6). Support added for partitioning the Library into logical libraries. The Tape Library can have up to as many logical libraries are there are tape drives. Support added for the 1/8 G2 and MSL Encryption Kit, which is a solution for generating and storing encryption keys to write and restore encrypted data on LTO-4 media with LTO-4 tape drives. Support added for the Ultrium 1760 parallel SCSI half-height tape drive. Support added for SNMP version 2. Added the ability to save and restore the Library conguration settings to a USB ash drive (from the OCP) or a le (from the RMI). The number of allowed reserved slots is increased from 36 to 94.
In non-partitioned Libraries, the operation of mailslots (Import/Export Elements) has been modied to operate in the same manner as earlier rmware releases. NOTE: Version 8.70 changed these basic operations in a way that caused some applications to fail when accessing a cartridge in a mailslot. In partitioned Libraries, the operation of the mailslots (Import/Export Elements) has been modied to accurately reect when the mailslot is FULL, and to allow a logical library to access a cartridge
in a mailslot that was put there by that logical library. The SCSI ACCESS bit now accurately reects this permission. Fixed a case where the user could not modify the Fibre Channel conguration parameters on the remote management interface Conguration: Drive screen when four Fibre Channel tape drives were installed in the Library. Fixed a rare condition when the OCP would continue to show <-Close Mailslot when the mailslot was closed. Pressing the front panel buttons would not cause a change in the display. Fixed a case where the Library could appear unresponsive when used with network security programs that constantly check the security status of all network ports. Usually Drive Communication (code: F1 xx) errors were the last entries in the library logs. Fixed a case where the Library could appear unresponsive after the operator issued a command from the OCP to remove a magazine but the magazine was not removed. Fixed a case where the time stamp in the library logs would be recorded as one day earlier than the library time. Fixed a case where error retry Code (setting of sled motor parameters failed) was incorrectly logged during the power up sequence. Fixed a case where error code 9B (sled position sensor not found) was reported at ambient temperatures below 10 C when the mailslot did not pop out more than 15 mm. Fixed a case where the Library would report Not Ready after running the Demo Test.

Compatibility note

When using this rmware version (8.90) or future revisions with the Encryption Kit, any key server tokens set with an odd number of characters for the PIN will not be totally backwards compatible in Autoloaders or Libraries with code revisions 2.10, 4.00, 6.30, or 8.70 (the previous released versions). In those cases, a token in an Autoloader or Library with 2.10, 4.00, 6.30, or 8.70 rmware revisions will be able to accept the PIN for the token and access keys on the token, but the user will not be able to change the PIN on the token, save the keys to a le, or restore the keys from a le until the Autoloader or Library rmware is upgraded. Users should always upgrade to the latest version of rmware to ensure complete compatibility.

Installation instructions
To upgrade rmware from the RMI: 1. Download current rmware using HP Library & Tape Tools or from the HP support website: http://www.hp.com/support/storage. 2. Log into the RMI as the administrator user. 3. In the Support: Firmware page, browse to the location of the Library rmware le. 4. Click Update.
