Overall a nice product. Two formats I regularly use on my computer and like to see on the screenplay are MKV and RMVB. I am a mobile DJ and I purchased this because many of my gigs are set in a dark atmosphere. This product works perfectly. I did my research around and until now iomega has this media player that competes with WD player.

1 HP StorageWorks XP Data Shredder for the XP12000/XP10000 Disk Array
If you change the user for a volume, you should delete data stored by the previous user for security purposes. HP StorageWorks XP Data Shredder deletes data on volumes and prevents deleted data from being restored. Shredding operation refers to the process of deleting all data on a volume by overwriting it with dummy data. XP Data Shredder for the HP StorageWorks XP12000/10000 Disk Array is based on DoD5220.22-M, which is the standard defined by the U.S. Department of Defense. Data Shredder is used for both open and mainframe systems.
Overview of Shredding operations
The Shredding operation completely deletes data on a specified volume by repeatedly overwriting existing data with dummy data. You perform Shredding operations from the XP Command View Advanced Edition Software management station or XP Remote Web Console. Figure 1 shows an example of Shredding operations.
Figure 1 Overview of Shredding operations Because of the nature of hard disks, overwriting a volume once is not enough to completely delete data, which means deleted data could be restored. Therefore, HP recommends you overwrite a volume with dummy data at least three times. By default, Data Shredder overwrites volumes with dummy data three times. You can change the default and overwrite the volume up to eight times. For more information, see Defining Shredding operation settings.
Target volumes for Shredding operations
You can use the Shredding operation for any type of volume (for example, VDEV, LDEV, or custom volume) and emulation type, but the status of the volume must be Blocked. If the status is Normal, the volume cannot be the target of Shredding operations. For instructions to change the status of a volume to Blocked, see Preparing for Shredding operations. NOTE: Select target volumes for Shredding operations in the Volume Manager pane. You cannot perform Shredding operations on the following volumes:
HP StorageWorks XP Data Shredder for the XP12000/XP10000 Disk Array
Pool volumes (pool-VOLs) Virtual volumes Journal volumes Volumes containing extents of Data Retention Utility
NOTE: A Data Retention Utility extent is a data area in an OPEN-V volume to which a VMA area is set. By using HP StorageWorks XP RAID Manager library, the Read Only attribute can be set to the extent. If an extent is set to a volume, VLL and LUSE functions cannot be used for the volume. That is to say, the volume cannot be combined with other volumes and cannot be divided into multiple volumes. To use the VLL and LUSE functions for such a volume, you must delete Data Retention Utility extent from the volume by using HP StorageWorks XP Remote Web Console or XP RAID Manager library. For more information, see Deleting data on volumes (Shredding).

Preparing to use Data Shredder
Before launching Data Shredder, install and enable Data Shredder on each disk array where you intend to use these options.

Starting Data Shredder

1. Click the Volume Manager button ( NOTE: To change settings for Data Shredder, you must be in Modify mode. ). The Volume Manager pane appears.
Click the Customized Volume tab.
Figure 2 Customized Volume pane

Shredding Param pane

Use this pane to define settings for Shredding operations. To open this pane, click Shredding Param (Parameter) on the Customized Volume pane.
Figure 3 Shredding Param pane The Shredding Param pane contains the following: Write Data Type: Settings for Shredding operations.
Default (00-FF-00): If selected, defaults are used for Shredding operations. Data on a volume is deleted by overwriting the volume with dummy data three times. When the volume is overwritten the first and third times, Data Shredder uses 00 (hexadecimal number) for the dummy data. When the volume is overwritten the second time, Data Shredder uses FF (hexadecimal number) for the dummy data. User: If selected, you define the dummy data and how many times the volume is overwritten. For more information, see Defining Shredding operation settings. Write Data: Dummy data. Define: Enter up to four numbers or characters for the dummy data. You can enter only hexadecimal numbers, including numbers 0 to 9, and alphabetic characters A to F. If you enter more than four digits, the entry is not accepted. NOTE: Dummy data is written two digits at a time. Therefore, enter an even number of digits in the text box. If you enter an odd number of digits (for example, 123) and click Set, an error message appears. If you enter more than four digits, the entry is not accepted. Random: Data Shredder randomly selects 4-digit hexadecimal numbers for the dummy data. Format List: NO.: Number of times volume is overwritten. If you select User in the Write Data Type field, and specify number of times volume is overwritten, Last Data appears in this column. Data: Contents of the dummy data. Dummy data is shown in sets of two digits with a space between each set of digits. If Last Data appears in the NO. column, the dummy data is always 00. Set: Adds dummy data defined in the Write Data field to the Format List. You can add dummy data a maximum of seven times. If you select Define in the Write Data field, and click Set without entering anything in the text box, an error message appears. The Set button is not available when you select Default in the Write Data Type field. Delete: Deletes the selected row in the Format List field. If you select a row with Last Data, and click Delete, an error message appears. The Delete button is not available when you select Default in the Write Data Type field. OK: Registers settings in the Format List field, and closes the Shredding Param. pane. Cancel: Cancels all settings, and closes the Shredding Param. pane.

Confirmation pane for completing Shredding operations
When the Shredding operation is finished, a confirmation pane appears. This pane displays how often the volume was overwritten and the dummy data used each time the volume was overwritten. If you download a compression file (in.tgz format) by using this panel and then use file decompression software to decompress the compression file, you will obtain binary files containing the results of the shredding operation. The names of the binary files indicate CU and LDEV numbers of the shredded volumes, and the number of times dummy data have been written to the volumes. For example, if a binary file is named "03.bin", the CU number of a shredded volume is 01, and the LDEV
number of the volume is 11. The filename also indicates that dummy data have been written to that volume three times. A binary file contains the first 512 bytes of data of a shredded volume (LDEV).
Figure 4 Confirmation pane for completion of the Shredding operation This panel displays ending status of a shredding operation. When this panel appears, check the panel contents to verify whether all the overwriting operations have ended normally. The panel displays Normal when an overwriting operation ends normally. If any overwriting operation ends abnormally, the shredding operation fails. If the shredding operation fails, retry the shredding operation. If the shredding operation still fails despite retrying, call the Support Center to identify the cause of the failure. Table 1 Ending status of Shredding operations Ending status appearing in the confirmation pane
Shredding operation normal Shredding operation not executed Shredding operation canceled Shredding operation failed Shredding data transfer error Shredding data verify error
Shredding operation ended normally. Shredding operation did not perform according to specified parameters. Shredding operation was canceled. Shredding operation ended abnormally. Result of Shredding operation could not be output to a file. An error was detected while verifying the file containing the result of the Shredding operation.
If the Shredding operation finishes normally, use the following buttons: OK: Closes the confirmation pane. Download: Downloads the file containing the results of the Shredding operation that has just been performed. The name of the file is shown in Output File Name. This button appears when the Shredding operation finishes successfully. NOTE: To download the results for the past shredding operations, use the Download button of the VLL main panel.
NOTE: The shredding result file cannot be downloaded if the SVP is shut down (for example, if the SVP has been rebooted by the service engineer or by the automatic SVP reboot function).

If the Shredding operation fails, contact your HP account support representative.
Shredding Data Output pane
When you specify volumes in the Shredding Data Output pane during a Shredding operation, the results of the operation are saved in files.
Figure 5 Shredding Data Output pane The Shredding Data Output pane contains the following: non-object Volume Results of shredding volumes in this list are not saved in files. object Volume Results of shredding volumes in this list are saved in files. Each row represents one volume. Each volume is represented by a CU number (left of the colon) and LDEV number (right of the colon). storage can be configured behind a single XP24000, 96 Petabytes behind an XP20000, 32 Petabytes behind an XP12000, and 16 Petabyes behind an XP10000. Coupled with the significant cost advantages that external storage systems can provide, you can confidently scale your XP24000/XP20000/XP12000/XP10000 disk array solution to simplify configuration complexity and reduce ongoing management cost. XP External Storage is compatible with a wide range of XP disk array software tools, including XP Business Copy for local replication, XP Continuous Access for remote replication, and XP Auto LUN for performance optimization. Since March 2006, LUN Configuration and Security Manager licenses have been included with XP12000/XP10000 XP External Storage to make ordering and configuring easier. The XP12000 and XP10000 share XP External Storage product numbers, except for the first tier. Because the XP10000 has frame-based licensing for LUN Configuration and Security Manager, the External Storage XP 0-1 TB LTU for the XP10000 is a special, lower cost license. As of June 2006, all XP12000/XP10000 XP External Storage licenses include a license for a four cachepartition version of XP Disk/Cache Partition. This license allows the customer to implement up to four cache partitions with XP External Storage. Please note: each implemented partition requires a minimum of 4 Gigabytes of physical disk array cache memory to be configured. This cache requirement is in addition to other cache that may be required to run the internal disk related applications. Customers who purchased XP External Storage before June 2006 may acquire the four partition license at no charge. Customers who want more than four cache partitions or who would like to implement disk partitions are still invited to purchase the appropriate standard XP Disk/Cache Partition license. Because XP24000/XP20000 Array Manager has much more functionality than XP12000/XP10000 LUN Configuration and Security Manager, XP24000/XP20000 External Storage licenses differ from XP12000/XP10000 External Storage licenses in two ways. First, the XP24000/XP20000 External Storage licenses, in contrast to the XP12000/XP10000, do not include partitioning licenses because partitioning is included in XP Array Manager. Second, XP24000/XP20000 External Storage licenses do not need to include Array Manager licenses because Array Manager includes coverage for unlimited External Storage capacity. HP Continentalclusters

Overview HP Continentalclusters software provides the highest levels of disaster tolerance by eliminating the cluster itself as a single point of failure. It uses data replication technologies to provide application recovery across multiple widely-separated HP-UX Serviceguard clusters. The Continentalclusters product provides the ability to monitor a Serviceguard cluster and recover mission critical applications to a remote Serviceguard cluster, should the monitored cluster become unavailable or if there is a disaster at the cluster site. Continentalclusters allows for a semi-automatic push button type of recovery. When a cluster failure or a site disaster is detected, Continentalclusters generates a notification. An operator, upon receipt of a notification, can start the recovery of applications at a recovery cluster using a single Continentalclusters command that automates the recovery procedure. Continentalclusters supports mutual recovery across two clusters. In a mutual recovery pair, each cluster is configured to recover the mission critical applications running in the other cluster. Applications can be configured in Continentalclusters for disaster tolerance using HP StorageWorks XP disk arrays and HP StorageWorks XP Continuous Access data replication technology. For more information, please refer to: http://www.hp.com/go/dt.
