Enhancements

Supports HP StorageWorks XP Continuous Access Journal Software on XP24000, XP20000, XP12000, and XP10000 disk arrays. Supports HP StorageWorks XP External Storage with XP24000, XP20000, XP12000, and XP10000 disk arrays. Introduces new data currency configuration settings for fence level ASYNC (Journal). If this option is selected and the XP Continuous Access Software physical link is down, XP Cluster Extension will not perform the takeover on the S-VOL because the P-VOL potentially still holds a lot of untransmitted data. This setting will force data currency during failover. If this option is not selected, XP Cluster Extension will perform the takeover even if there is a potential data loss. Data consistency is still guaranteed. Implements MINAP values to determine if the XP Continuous Access Software physical link is active during takeover operations.
Fixes an issue in which an XP Continuous Access Synchronous Software (fence DATA) pair will attempt to start on a P-VOL in PAIR status, but the XP Continuous Access Software physical link is down. The first I/O to P-VOL will fence the device and application startup will fail due to I/O errors. This version of XP Cluster Extension will now check the link status using a MINAP value and will not allow application startup if the XP Continuous Access Software physical link is down. Fixes a condition in which asynchronous devices will fail over if the S-VOL is still in PAIR status, but not when the S-VOL is in PSUE status. Normally, after a link failure, the S-VOL remains in PAIR status for 5 minutes before the status change to PSUE. With this version, asynchronous device groups will go online on the P-VOL side if the S-VOL is in either PAIR or PSUE status.

Prerequisites

XP Continuous Access Journal Software can only be used on XP24000, XP20000, XP10000, and XP12000 disk arrays. HP recommends XP24000/XP20000 firmware 60-02-48-00/00 or later with XP RAID Manager 1.20.05 or later. See HP StorageWorks XP Cluster Extension Compatibility Reference for further details. HP recommends XP10000/XP12000 firmware 50-09-37-00/04 or later with XP RAID Manager 01.19.04 or later. See HP StorageWorks XP Cluster Extension Compatibility Reference for further details.

Enhancements

P9000 RAID Manager out-of-band communication P9000 Cluster Extension supports environments with virtual command devices. Out-of-band communication transfers a command from the client or server to a virtual command device in the array controller via the LAN, assigning a RAID Manager operation instruction to the array controller and executing it. This eliminates the need for a dedicated command device mapped through the FC network. P9000 RAID Manager command device authentication P9000 arrays use command device authentication to restrict user access to command devices. When command device authentication is enabled, users must provide authentication details in order to get the required array access. P9000 Cluster Extension provides configuration tools to collect the command device authentication credentials. P9000 Cluster Extension now supports both copy groups and device groups.

Prerequisites

Windows Server 2008 only: In certain situations, resources do not follow the Preferred Owners List order during failover. See the Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB950181 for more information. A physical disk resource may unexpectedly fail or go offline when the IsAlive function is run on a Windows Server 2008 cluster node. See the Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB953652 for more information. Immediately after installing P9000 Cluster Extension, bringing a resource online might fail with the error Create process to execute command "horcmstart instance" failed. This error occurs because the RAID Manager environment path variable value is not reflected for the P9000 Cluster Extension resource. If you experience this problem, restart the cluster service on the affected cluster node. After you restart the cluster service, this error message will not appear again. In a Server Core or Hyper-V Server environment, after the installation of P9000 Cluster Extension, the RAID Manager-related path environment variable value is not updated correctly to P9000 Cluster Extension. To work around this issue, re-login to the Windows session on the cluster nodes or reboot the cluster nodes. P9000 and XP Continuous Access Journal are supported only on P9500, XP24000, XP20000, XP12000, and XP10000 disk arrays. To enable use of the HP OpenView AutoPass GUI, install the Java Runtime Environment (Java SE Release families 5.0 or 6.0) and set the path environment variable for java.exe.
