Getting to Know Your USB Modem
The supported functions and actual appearance are subject to your product purchased. The following pictures are displayed for illustration purpose only.

Indicator Status

Description

The USB Modem is powered on. The USB Modem accesses the network normally. No data, however, is being transmitted. The USB Modem is transmitting data. The larger the amount of transmitted data is, the higher the blinking speed is. The USB Modem is powered off.

Requirements on PC Configuration
Your PC must meet the following configuration requirements for using the USB Modem. Otherwise, the operation performance of the USB Modem may be degraded.

Configuration

128 MB random access memory (RAM) or above 50 MB or above Windows XP (With Service Pack 2 or a patch of later version) Windows Vista Standard USB 2.pixel or above. 1024768 pixel is recommended.
Connecting the External Antenna (Optional)
Do not use the external antenna outdoors. During lightning storms, stop using the external antenna and disconnect it from the USB Modem. To connect the external antenna to your USB Modem, do as follows: a. Power off the USB Modem. b. Pull out the plastic plug on the side of the USB Modem and connect the external antenna to the USB Modem. It is recommended that you connect the external antenna to the interface not close to the USB port. c. Put the external antenna in an open space without any surrounding obstacles, to ensure good reception of network signals.

Installation Guide

The procedure for installing the management program depends on the operating system installed on your PC. The following section takes Windows XP as an example.
Connecting the USB Modem to the PC

CAUTION

Ensure that the PC is powered on when connecting the USB Modem to The PC. Otherwise, the USB Modem may not work properly.
Power on the PC. Connect the USB Modem to the PC by using the USB cable, as shown in the following figure.
Use the delivery-attached cable. A USB extension cable or an extra-long USB cable may cause shortage of power supply, thus making the device unserviceable. During lightning storms, stop using the USB modem and disconnect it from the computer.
Installing the Management Program a. b. c. d. e.
Power on the PC. Connect the USB Modem to the PC by using the USB cable. The OS displays a message that new hardware is found and prompts you to install the management program. Install the management program according to the on-screen instructions. When you finish installing the management program, the shortcut icon of the management program appears in the notification area.
Uninstalling the Management Program
You can uninstall the management program by two methods. Method one: a. Exit the management program. b. Choose Start > All programs. c. Find the management program.
Choose Uninstall. Uninstall the management program according to the on-screen instructions.
Method two: a. Exit the management program. b. Choose Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. c. Click Change/Remove Programs. d. Find the management program. e. Click Change/Remove. f. Uninstall the management program according to the on-screen instructions.
After the management program is uninstalled, restart the PC to ensure complete removal of the management program from the PC.

Disconnecting the USB Modem
If is not displayed in the notification area, do as follows: Exit the management program. Disconnect the USB Modem or the USB cable from the PC. If is displayed in the notification area, do as follows:

Double-click
in the notification area. The OS displays the message that
"Safely remove hardware." Stop running the corresponding hardware of the USB Modem on the Device Manager. Disconnect the USB Modem or the USB cable from the PC after the OS displays the message that you can remove the hardware safely.
Setting Up a PPP Dial-Up Connection
If the USB Modem accesses the Internet through a Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) dial-up connection, you need to set up a PPP dial-up connection after installing the management program. To set up a PPP dial-up connection on the Windows OS, do as follows: a. Choose Start > Control Panel > Network Connection. b. Under Network Tasks in the left pane, click Create a new connection. c. Click Next in the displayed New Connection Wizard dialog box. d. Select Connect to the Internet and then click Next. e. Select Set up my connection manually and then click Next. f. Select Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password and then click Next. g. Enter the name of the Internet service provider (ISP) as the name of the new connection. h. Select Anyone's use or My use only and then click Next. i. Enter the user name and password provided by the ISP and confirm the password. Then click Next. j. Click Finish.
After setting up a PPP dial-up connection, you can run the management program and then access the Internet manually.
Connecting and Disconnecting a Network

Connecting a Network

To connect the USB Modem to a WiMAX network manually, do as follows: a. Start the management program and then click Setting. b. Enter the username and password provided by the ISP, and save the user
account. Click Connection. Click Connect Network. Then the USB Modem tries to connect to the network. When the connection is established, the icons indicating a successful network connection and the signal strength are displayed at the bottom of the management program window.

Disconnecting a Network

When you do not use the Internet, you can disconnect the USB Modem from the network manually. After you disconnect the network connection, you need to connect the USB Modem to the network again before accessing the Internet. a. Start the management program and then click Connection. b. Click Disconnect Network.

Troubleshooting

The Management Program cannot start automatically after the installation.
When the USB Modem is connected to the PC for the first time, the system does not prompt you to install the Management Program.
After the system recognizes the new hardware, you need to wait a few minutes for the system to prepare for the installation of the program. Ensure that the USB Modem is connected to the PC correctly and is displayed in the notification area. Otherwise, disconnect the USB Modem and then connect it to the PC again. Check whether the disk icon is displayed in the My Computer window. i. If yes, double-click the icon. ii. If not, remove the USB Modem from the PC and restart the PC. Then connect the USB Modem to the PC again. Log in to the Web site specified by the ISP to download the installation program, and then install the program. Ensure that the auto play function of the OS is enabled.
Check whether the shortcut icon of the management program is displayed on the desktop or in the notification area. If yes, doubleclick the icon to start the management program. Ensure that the USB Modem is correctly connected to the PC as follows: i. Uninstall the management program. ii. Disconnect the USB Modem from the PC, and then connect the USB Modem to the PC again. iii. Install the management program according to the on-screen instructions. Remove the USB Modem safely and restart the PC. Then connect the USB Modem to the PC again. Ensure that the auto play function of the OS is enabled.
The USB Modem cannot access the Internet.
Ensure that you are in the service area. Ensure that the USB Modem is connected to the PC correctly and the management program is installed correctly. Ensure that you have subscribed to the Internet access service. Contact your local ISP for how to subscribe to the service.
The device cannot be identified or a dead halt suddenly occurs when the Management Program is running.
Use the cable delivered with the USB Modem. The use of a USB extension cable or an extra-long USB cable may cause shortage of power supply, thus making the device unusable.
The system informs you that the software is damaged.
When you power on the PC after the USB Modem is connected, the Windows OS hangs.
Check the settings of devices such as the USB port and network adapter in the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) of the PC. It is recommended that you enable devices such as the USB port and the network adapter. Remove the USB Modem safely and restart the PC. Then connect the USB Modem to the PC again.

The USB Modem can repair the software automatically. When the software is damaged, the system prompts you to repair the software. You can repair the software according to the on-screen instructions. Contact your local ISP if the automatic repair of the software fails.

Warnings and Precautions

To use the device properly and safely, read these warnings and precautions carefully and strictly observe them during operation. During storage, transportation, and operation of the device, keep it dry and prevent it from colliding with other objects. Do not dismantle the device. In case of any fault, contact an authorized service center for assistance or repair. Without authorization, no organization or individual can change the mechanical, safety, or performance design of the device. When using the device, observe all applicable laws and regulations and respect the legal rights of other people. Before connecting and disconnecting cables, stop using the device, and then disconnect it from the power supply. Ensure that your hands are dry during operation. Keep the device far from sources of heat and fire, such as a heater or a candle. Keep the device far from electronic appliances that generate strong magnetic or electric fields, such as a microwave oven or a refrigerator. Place the device on a stable surface. Place the device in a cool and well-ventilated indoor area. Do not expose the device to direct sunlight. Use the device in an area with a temperature ranging from 0C to 40C. During thunderstorms, power off the device, and then remove all the cables connected to it to prevent it from getting damaged due to lightning strikes. Do not use the device where using wireless devices is prohibited or may cause interference or danger. The radio waves generated by the device may interfere with the operation of electronic medical devices. If you are using any electrical medical device, contact its manufacturer for the restrictions on the use of the device. Do not take the device into operating rooms, intensive care units (ICUs), or coronary care units (CCUs). Do not use the device where inflammables or explosives are stored, for example, in a gas station, oil depot, or chemical plant. Otherwise, explosions or fires may occur. In addition, follow the instructions indicated in text or symbols. Do not store or transport the device in the same box as inflammable liquids, gases, or explosives.

Accessory Requirements

Use only the accessories supplied or authorized by the device manufacturer. Otherwise, the performance of the device may get affected, the warranty for the device or the laws and regulations related to telecommunications terminals may become null and void, or an injury may occur.
Safety of Children Maintenance
Keep the device and its accessories out of the reach of children. Otherwise, they may damage the device and its accessories by mistake, or they may swallow the small components of the device, causing suffocation or other dangerous situations. If the device is not used for a long time, power it off, and then remove all the cables connected to it. Troubleshooting
