| This past week I had the opportunity to test out the new Creative Zen Mosaic. While it is similar to the Zen V on the inside. This product does a good job of holding my Zen in the clear case which makes it great to use at the gym. However. The case itself and the armband are great. The belt clip is flimsy, so you really have to be careful with it. | |

| zen quality this a great little MP3. What I love the most about this MP3 is the little speaker. It is so easy to use. Why oh why? Why oh why did they have to try and top the ordinary platforms we all use on out Macs and Windows with their own software??? Very Disappointed I bought the EZ100 to replace a previous Creative Zen which had broken (the volume switch failed to work). | |

| At first glance, the appearance/style of the Creative Zen Mosaic gives a sense of elegance and quality, with its trendy, futuristic design. | |

| I love it although i have not officially use it yet as you need to charge it for three hours before actually using it. The ZEN Mozaic is Creative latest portable media player. Due to its similar specs, it is said to be developed to replace the aging ZEN V series. | |

The blueberry crop is late this year and expensive, so I am sourcing my wild blueberries from a supplier in Quebec. Blueberries were selling for $14 a quart at the market last weekend. I cant make money (on my pies) at that price, she said. Demand for her blueberry pies has been so high this year, she is already through her frozen blueberries from last year. I had tonnes of blueberries frozen from last years crop. They were picked by my mother and fatherin-law. But I made 300 blueberry pies for the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police conference recently. I also sell blueberry jams and pies at Market Square and through Eat Local Sudbury There, the blueberries must. be local. I was only phoned by the (festival) organizers Monday to be the supplier of pies. So I had to go to an outside supplier. The local blueberry crop has also been slow this year, noted Bedkowski. From Page 1 during the shutdown will not receive employment insurance, he said. The strikers have been cut off from their Vale Inco benefits for the duration of the strike, said Fera. Starting the fourth week of the strike, a fund set up by United Steelworkers District 6 will begin providing some insurance for union members. Each family will be eligible to receive $1,000 worth of insurance coverage per year. Thats better than what we had before (the benefits fund was set up). Before we had nothing, he said.

Fera said some workers may decide to take other jobs during the strike to pay their bills. He said thats fine with him, as long as they show up for their turn on the picket line. The strikers are expected to put in 12-hour shifts on the picket line once every week-and-a-half or two weeks. Fera said he has no idea if his members have put away money to sustain themselves during the strike, saying its not my business. But he said he hopes they have. One of the things weve told our guys to do over the years is to put that bonus money away and consider that their strike fund. In 2006, fortunately, we didnt need it because we didnt have a strike. Sailing to serenity
When United States singer/songwriter Christopher Cross penned the song Sailing he captured the essence of this photograph. Here are a few lines from the Grammy-awardwinning song: And when the wind is right you can sail away/And find serenity/The canvas can do miracles/Just you wait and see. Chelmsford photographer Janet Young took this picture at Bell Park recently. Northern Life welcomes submissions of local art and photography to be featured on this page. (The following is a condensed version of the eulogy Jim Marchbank delivered at Risto Laamanens funeral on July 11. The pair worked extensively together at Science North. Laamanen was chair of the board of Science North for the past 13-and-a-half years.)
Michael Kaeshammer will headline the first Jazz Sudbury festival in Greater Sudbury on Sept. 12. The Canadian jazz musician will perform on the grounds of Science North. It will be one of his last stops on his North American tour before leaving for a series of shows in China, said organizers. Kaeshammer is renowned as one of Canadas fastest rising stars, dazzling artists all over the world with his incredible talent on the piano and his fun and engaging shows, said a Jazz Sudbury release. Joe Sealy and the Jazzbirds will play Friday night for the free concert, as well as a number of Saturday performances. Tickets will be $20 for the day and $60 for evening passes. Seniors and students will pay $50 for evening passes. Family of four day passes are $45. There also will be a weekend pass available for $75 and $60 for students and seniors, said Kerri
Jones, Jazz Sudbury communication representative. Torontos Shuffle Demons will perform a free concert at Science North Friday night on the festival main stage, to help kick off the Saturday concerts. Three Cortina cruises will also run during the day, which will feature a jazz musician aboard. Cruise tickets are $20 and $45 for a family of four. Jazz Sudbury is an initiative of the Sudbury Community Foundation to promote local artists and showcase local and international talent. In Greater Sudburys Vital Signs, the foundation identified that participation in the arts, in every category from theatre to cultural festivals, was lower in Greater Sudbury than in other cities. In 2005, 16.5 per cent of Sudburians attended local
cultural events compared to 22.7 per cent of all Canadians, stated the report. As a means of promoting the arts, a jazz festival was developed by the board and community partners of the foundation. The intent was to support the growing interest in jazz locally, said spokespersons for the Sudbury Community Foundation recently. For more information about the festival, phone 673-7770 or visit www.jazzsudbury.ca. Tickets can be purchased online through my!Sudbury and at all TD Canada Trust branches in Greater Sudbury.
Jazz Sudbury festival events include: free kick-off concert Sept. 11 featuring Torontos Shuffle Demons and other internationally-known jazz artists, along with the finalists of Jazz Sudbury talent search Cortina cruises childrens activities multiple stages street performers

have pieces of this in it. It is water soluble so when it rains it dissolves and supplies the potassium to the plants. This years field trip, on Sunday, July 19 at noon, will travel to a garnet property off Kukagami Lake Road, northeast of Sudbury. Adults and children will have the opportunity to collect garnet specimens. Children also will enjoy the silent auction, said Debicki. It is fun. We set the minimum bid low, as little as a dime, so children can participate. For more information, visit www. ccfms.ca/Clubs/Sudbury/show.htm or phone 522-5140.
