PRECAUTIONS

RWARNING! NEVER connect the transceiver to an AC outlet. This may pose a fire hazard or result in an electric shock. RWARNING! NEVER connect the transceiver to a
power source of more than 16 V DC such as a 24 V battery. This connection will ruin the transceiver.
DO NOT operate the transceiver without running the vehicles engine. The vehicles battery will quickly run out when the transceiver transmits while the vehicles engine is OFF. DO NOT place the transceiver in excessively dusty environments.
RWARNING! NEVER cut the DC power cable between the DC plug and fuse holder. If an incorrect connection is made after cutting, the transceiver might be damaged. RWARNING! NEVER place the transceiver where
normal operation of the vehicle may be hindered or where it could cause bodily injury.

heat dissipation will be obstructed.
DO NOT use chemical agents such as benzine or alcohol

After the selection, push this key again to set. hile in digital mode operation, push to enter the RAN W channel selection mode. Then select the desired RAN setting with [CH Up] or [CH Down]. After the selection, push this key again to set. hile in mixed (digital and analog) mode operation, push W to enter the continuous tone channel selection mode. Then select the desired tone frequency/code setting with [CH Up] or [CH Down]. After the selection, push this key to set. After that, the RAN channel selection screen appears. Select the desired RAN setting with [CH Up] or [CH Down]. After the selection, push this key again to set. C.TONE CH ENT KEY Push to select the continuous tone channel using [CH Up]/ [CH Down] to change the tone frequency/code setting after pushing this key. The selected channel remains set as the continuous tone channel until another channel is designated as such. (Analog or mixed mode operation only) TALK AROUND KEY Push to turn the talk around function ON and OFF.

RX SPEAKER KEY Push to turn the RX speaker function ON or OFF. When the RX speaker function is turned ON, the received audio can be heard via the external speaker.

LIGHT KEY Push to turn the transceivers backlight ON for about 5 sec. when the backlight function is turned OFF in user set mode. LOCK KEY Push and hold to electronically lock all programmable keys except the following:
[Moni(Audi)], [Light], [Lock], [Call] (incl. Call A and Call B), [Emergency], [Surveillance], [Lone Worker] and [OPT 1/2/3].
LONE WORKER KEY Push to turn the Lone Worker function ON or OFF.
f the Lone Worker function is activated, the Emergency function is I automatically turned ON after the specified time period has passed with no operation is performed.
HIGH/LOW KEY Push to select the transmit output power temporarily or permanently, depending on the pre-setting.

DTMF AUTODIAL KEY Push to enter the DTMF channel selection mode. Then select the desired DTMF channel using [CH Up]/[CH Down]. After selecting the DTMF channel, push again to transmit the selected DTMF code. RE-DIAL KEY Push to transmit the last-transmitted DTMF code.
TX memories are cleared after turning the transceiver OFF.
SURVEILLANCE KEY Push to turn the surveillance function ON or OFF. When this function is turned ON, the beep is not emitted and the LCD backlight and the LED indicator do not light when a signal is received or a key is pushed. TX CODE ENTER KEY (PMR operation only) Push to enter the ID code edit mode directly, for both 5-tone and MSK. Then set the desired digit using [CH Up]/ [CH Down]. (p. 11) TX CODE CHANNEL SELECT KEY ush to enter the ID code channel selection mode P directly. Then set the desired channel using [CH Up]/ [CH Down]. SCRAMBLER/ENCRYPTION KEY hile in analog mode operation, push to toggle the voice W scrambler function ON and OFF. hile in digital mode operation, push to toggle the W encryption transmission function ON and OFF. COMPANDER KEY Push to toggle the compander function ON and OFF. The compander function reduces noise components from the transmitted audio to provide clear communication. ID-MR SELECT KEY (PMR operation only) Recalls detected ID codes.
ush this key, then select the ID code using [CH Up]/ P [CH Down]. Up to 5 IDs are memorized.
ush and hold this key for 1 sec. again to exit user set mode. P User set mode is also available via the Power ON function. Refer to p. 12 also. 10Key ENT KEY Push to enable the connected microphone's 10-keypad operation.

BASIC OPERATION

Turning power ON
qPush and hold [ ] for 1 sec. to turn the power ON. wf the transceiver is programmed for a start up password, I input the digit codes as directed by your dealer.
he keys as below can be used for password input: T The transceiver detects numbers in the same block as identical. Therefore 01234 and 56789 are the same.

Channel selection

Several types of channel selections are available. Methods may differ according to your system set up. NON-ZONE TYPE: To select the desired operating channel: Push [CH Up] or [CH Down]. Push one of [MR-CH 1] to [MR-CH 4]. ZONE TYPE: To select the desired zone: Push [Zone], then push [CH Up] or [CH Down]. Push [Zone Up] or [Zone Down]. D Voting operation The transceiver automatically starts scanning when a zone, specified for the voting operation, is selected. The voting scan detects the S-meter of the repeater and automatically selects the strongest station. AUTOMATIC SCAN TYPE: Channel setting is not necessary for this type. When turning power ON, the transceiver automatically starts scanning. Scanning stops when receiving a call.

e hen the PASSWORD indication does not clear after W inputting 6 digits, the input code number may be incorrect. Turn the power off and start over in this case.

Call procedure

When your system employs tone signaling (excluding CTCSS and DTCS), a call procedure may be necessary prior to voice transmission. The tone signalling employed may be a selective calling system which allows you to call specific station(s) only and prevent unwanted stations from contacting you. q elect the desired TX code channel, 2/5-tone code acS cording to your System Operators instructions.
This may not be necessary depending on programming. Refer to pages. 1011 for selection.
Receiving and transmitting
Receiving: qPush and hold [ ] for 1 sec. to turn the power ON. w ush [CH Up] or [CH Down] to select the conventional P system channel, in sequence. e hen receiving a call, rotate [VOL] to adjust the audio W output level to a comfortable listening level. Transmitting: Wait for the channel to become clear to avoid interference. q ake the microphone off hook. T
/5-tone mute may be released. (The audible condition is se2 lected and BUSY indicator lights green.) A priority channel may be selected automatically. The channel is busy when BUSY indicator lights green.
w ush [Call] (assigned to one of the dealer programmable P keys). e fter transmitting, the remainder of your communication A can be carried out in the normal fashion.

Selective calling Non-selective calling
wWait for the channel to become clear. e hile pushing and holding [PTT], speak into the microW phone at your normal voice level. rRelease [PTT] to return to receive. IMPORTANT: To maximize the readability of your signal; 1. If the transceiver has [TX Code CH Select] assigned to it, the indication can be toggled between the operating channel number (or name) and TX code channel number (or name). When the TX code channel number (or name) is displayed, [CH Up] or [CH Down] selects the TX code channel. USING [TX CODE CH SELECT] KEY: q ush [TX Code CH Select] a TX code channel number P (or name) appears. w ush [CH Up] or [CH Down] to select the desired TX code P channel. eAfter selecting, push [TX Code CH Select] to set.
Return to the stand-by mode.
- The selected channel is a receive only channel. Time-out timer fter continuous transmission for the pre-programmed time A period, the time-out timer is activated, causing the transceiver to stop transmitting. Penalty timer nce the time-out timer is activated, transmission is further O inhibited for a period determined by the penalty timer.
rPush [Call] to transmit the selected TX code. USING [TX CODE CH UP]/[TX CODE CH DOWN] KEY: If the transceiver has a [TX Code CH Up] or [TX Code CH Down] key assignment, the programmed TX code channel can be selected directly when pushed.

If the transceiver has [TX Code CH Select] or [TX Code Enter] assigned to it, TX code contents can be edited within the allowable digits.

User set mode

User set mode is accessed with [User Set Mode] and allows you to set seldom-changed settings. In this case you can customize the transceiver operation to suit your preferences and operating style. Entering the user set mode: q hile pushing and holding [P1] and [P2], push [ W the power ON.

Scrambler function

The voice scrambler function provides private communication between stations. All versions have a built-in frequency inversion type scrambler; however, an optional rolling or nonrolling type is available as well. qPush [Scrambler] to turn the scrambler function ON.

Stun function

When the specified ID, set as a kill ID, is received, the stun function is activated. When the kill ID is received, the transceiver switches to the password required condition. Entering of the password (p. 8) is necessary to operate the transceiver again in this case.

Priority A channel selection
When one of the following operations is performed, the transceiver selects the Priority A channel automatically. Turning the power ON The Priority A channel is selected each time the transceiver power is turned ON. Status call The Priority A channel is selected when transmitting a status call. (BIIS operation only) Off hook. The Priority A channel is selected when the microhone is took off from its hanger.

Emergency transmission

When [Emergency] is pushed for the specified time period, an emergency signal is automatically transmitted. (p. 6) When [Emergency] is pushed for the specified time period, the DTMF or 5-tone* emergency signal is transmitted once or repeatedly on the emergency channel. However, when no emergency channel is specified, the signal is transmitted on the previously selected channel. If you want to cancel the emergency call, push and hold the key again before transmitting the call. * Depending on the operating model type. 13

Fuse replacement

A fuse is installed in the supplied DC power cable. If a fuse blows or the transceiver stops functioning, track down the source of the problem if possible, and then replace the damaged fuse with a new rated one.
Fuse rating: 20 A USE the 20 A fuse only.

Cleaning

If the transceiver becomes dusty or dirty, wipe it clean with a soft, dry cloth. A VOID the use of solvents such as benzene or alcohol, as they may damage the transceiver surfaces.

IDAS system digital mode ready
PTT ID, selective call (Selcall) and emergency call features are available with the built-in MDC signaling. The PTT ID function sends your unit ID number when you push (or release) the PTT button. The received ID number can be decoded as a user name using the alias table. Selective calling enables you to call individuals or groups, depending on your needs. The emergency call feature allows you to send and repeat an emergency message to dispatch until the dispatch responds to it. In these situations, the radio can transmit anything the microphone hears and the dispatcher can monitor the background sounds. Radio check, status, message, radio stun/revive and call log features are also available. IDAS (Icom digital Advanced System) is Icom's digital conventional and trunking system using the NXDN common air interface. It has useful calling features including selective calling, status message, radio stun/revive/kill, etc,. The IC-F5061 series provides 2 optional slots: one for the UT-126H digital unit and one for an additional option board.

Detachable front panel

With the optional remote control kit, RMK-3 and separation cable, the front panel of the radio can be detached from the main unit. It allows for flexible installation even in limited installation space. Separation cable length is selectable from 1.9m, 3.0m and 8.0m*.

Wide frequency range and large channel capacity
The IC-F5061 series covers a wide frequency range in one version (VHF 136174 MHz, UHF 400 470MHz or 450512 MHz). The 512 memory channel capacity with 128 zones allows you to divide and store a variety of flexible channel groupings.
Built-in inversion-type voice scrambler
The built-in inversion type voice scrambler provides secure conversation. When a more secure system is required, the 32 code non-rolling-type voice scrambler UT109R and 1020 code rolling type UT-110R are available as an option.
* Inversion type voice scrambler is not compatible with UT-109/UT-110 voice scrambler.
Dot matrix, multi-function LCD
With a high contrast dot matrix display, upper and lower case characters can be easily distinguished. You can change the display setting to show one line and 12 characters, or two lines and 24 characters via programming. LCD backlighting is standard.
Basic LTR /Conventional mode operation
Group, selective, and phone calls are all available in LTR mode. Get efficient trunking operation without the need for any optional module.
D-sub accessory connector
The IC-F5061 series has a D-SUB 25 pin ACC connector for connecting various external devices.
Multiple 2-Tone, 5-Tone signalings
The built-in 2-Tone and 5-Tone capabilities allows you to send a tone code with your call and decode multiple tone codes on a channel. 40 pairs of CTCSS/ DTCS memory channels are available.

Voting operation

The voting operation detects the signal strength level of repeater sites and automatically selects the strongest station or the first station to exceed the preset signal level. This is useful for roaming between 2 or more repeater sites.

Front mounted speaker

4 watts (typ.) front mounted speaker delivers clear and loud audio. The built-in audio compander improves the signal to noise ratio.
IP54 dust-protection and splash resistance (Controller only)
The rugged die-cast chassis and polycarbonate front panel are resistant to shock and vibration. When used with the optional separation kit, the remote control head has dust-protection and splash resistant construction, equivalent to IP54.

Enhanced scanning

While scanning, you can program which Tx channel you want when you press PTT button. Start channel, last detected channel, priority or a preprogrammed channel are selectable. In addition, the nuisance delete function temporary removes a busy channel from the scanning list.
