I was hoping that EA would make a third, and thank god they did. The Sims 3 is awesome and the most realistic yet and the expansions will prove to make the surrounding better to be in.

For most of the past decade, The Sims franchise has maintained a permanent presence on the Top 10 sales charts of PC games. Often. he Sims 3 is the continuation of the most famous phantom of life, developed by Maxis.

A friend introduced by to the very first Sims games. Having played Sims right from the start where the Sims was the pinnacle in life gameplay I have to say how far the series has really come. Like so many others about the release of The Sims 3 on the PC.

Einsatzmglichkeiten

Never pull the mains cable to disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket, always seize the plug. No guarantee claims for the unit and no liability for any resulting personal damage or material damage will be accepted if the unit is used for other purposes than originally intended, if it is not correctly connected, operated, or not repaired in an expert way. Important for U. K. Customers! The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: blue = neutral brown = live As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: 1. The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter N or coloured black. 2. The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red. If the unit is to be put out of operation definitively, take it to a local recycling plant for a disposal which is not harmful to the environment.
lems may arise while replaying depending on the CD type, CD burner used, and burning programme. The CD player is provided with an anti-shock memory which is able to compensate shocks and vibrations up to 10 seconds while replaying the CD.

Operation

The text below explains the operation of the player mechanism 1. The operation of player mechanism 2 is identical.

5.1 Replaying a CD

Setting up and Connecting the Unit

Applications

The CD player CD-290DJ with two player mechanisms has especially been designed for professional DJ applications. Many functional features have precisely been matched to this range of application, e. g. replay of a seamless loop, single title replay, or manual beat synchronization of two titles. The CD player allows replay of audio CDs and CDs which you have written yourself (audio CD-R) and CDs with titles in the MP3 format or WMA format. However, in case of rewritable CDs (CD-RW) prob-

music starts (not at time index 0:00:00). The unit automatically memorizes this spot as a starting point. The display shortly indicates A CUE (= Auto Cue). After starting the title, it is possible to return to this starting point with the button BOP (15) or the button CUE (16). 3. After playing a title, the unit is set to pause precisely at the spot where the music of the next title starts. This spot is then memorized as a new starting point. Important note on MP3/WMA titles For titles in the MP3 format and WMA format no Auto Cue/Quick Start is possible, i. e. when selecting or reaching the next title or after returning to the title beginning with the button BOP or CUE, the player mechanism is not exactly at the spot where the music starts but at the time index 0:00:00. Thus, when starting the title, a small delay occurs unless the recording directly starts at 0:00:00. 5.3.2 Continue total title replay For continuous replay of one title after the other, switch to total title replay with the button CONT./ SINGLEOUTRO (10). The display shows Continue [(e) in fig. 1]. To return to single title replay, actuate the button again. 5.3.3 Relay mode automatic start of the other player mechanism At the end of a title or at the end of a CD the other player mechanism can be started automatically. A Start of the other player mechanism at the end of a title 1) Insert a CD into both player mechanisms first before actuating the button RELAY (2). The LED above the button lights up. 2) Set both player mechanisms to single title replay with the button CONT./SINGLEOUTRO (10): Both displays must show Single [(e), fig. 2].
3) Start the replay on one player mechanism with the button (17). The other player mechanism must be set to pause. As soon as the title has been played to the end, the player mechanism is set to pause and the other player mechanism starts. This procedure is continuously repeated until the relay mode is deactivated. (To switch off actuate the button RELAY once again.) 4) If another CD is inserted into the player mechanism set to pause, activate the relay operation again with the button RELAY. Notes: a On any spot of the CD, the replay can be switched from one player mechanism to the other with the button. b If the button CUE (16) of the replaying player mechanism is actuated, the replay changes to the other player mechanism. c If the button CUE is kept pressed at the player mechanism set to pause, the replay from this player mechanism continues until the button is released. B Start of the other player mechanism at the end of a CD 1) Insert a CD into both player mechanisms first before actuating the button RELAY (2). The LED above the button lights up. 2) Set both player mechanisms to total title replay with the button CONT./SINGLEOUTRO (10): Continue [(e), fig. 1] must be indicated in both displays. 3) Set one player mechanism to stop: Keep the button TIME/STOP (11) pressed for approx. 3 seconds until STOP appears in the display. 4) Start the replay on the other player mechanism with the button (17). At the end of the CD, the other player mechanism starts. This procedure is

repeated until the relay mode is deactivated. (To switch off actuate the button RELAY once again.) 5) If another CD is inserted into the player mechanism not playing, activate the relay mode again with the button RELAY. 5.3.4 Sleep mode If both player mechanisms are set to pause for a period exceeding 30 minutes, the unit automatically goes to the sleep mode. In this case, both laser systems are switched off for the purpose of conservation. Sleep is displayed and all illuminated buttons and all LEDs on the control unit are extinguished. By actuating any button the unit returns to the normal operating mode. Then the player mechanisms are precisely at the spot of the CD where they were before the unit was set to the sleep mode. Note: If a player mechanism is set to stop or if there is no CD inserted in one player mechanism, the unit will not go to the sleep mode.
5.4 Short replay of a title beginning
1) After inserting a CD, go to the desired title (see chapter 5.1.1). 2) If the display shows the playing time (g) of the title, keep the button CUE (16) pressed. The beginning of the title is played as long as the button is pressed. 3) After releasing the button CUE, the unit returns to the title beginning and is set to pause. Press the button (17) to start the title. It is still possible to return to the title beginning with the button CUE. For short replay of the title beginnings in the MP3 format and WMA format see the note in chapter 5.3.1.

5.5 Funktion OUTRO

5.5 Function OUTRO

The function OUTRO serves for the replay of the last 30 seconds each of all following titles. 1) To activate the function, keep the button CONT./ SINGLEOUTRO (10) pressed for approx. 3 seconds until the bar graph (f) changes to the following display: 2) Select the desired title (see chapter 5.1.1). If the CD player is in the pause mode, start the replay with the button (17). The last 30 seconds of the title are played. 3) To deactivate the function OUTRO, keep the button CONT./SINGLEOUTRO pressed again for approx. 3 seconds until the bar graph returns to its previous type of display. [The function is also switched off if the button TIME/STOP (11) is shortly pressed once.]
reached by the reverse) until the replay is started with the button (17) or the button CUE (16) or CUE 1 (9) is shortly pressed twice. b For titles in the MP3 format and WMA format, the forward and reverse cannot be monitored acoustically.
5.7 Precise selection of a spot
2) Change the speed with the PITCH CONTROL (14). The display shows the percentage deviation (h) from the standard speed. If the manual beat counter has been activated with the button BPM/TAB (20) [see chapter 5.2.2], the display indicates the number of beats per minute (j) which will change correspondingly when readjusting the sliding control. 3) To deactivate the PITCH CONTROL, press the button SELECT/ONOFF longer until the respective LED 8% or 16% flashes. Then the title is played at standard speed, regardless of the position of the control and of the speed indication in the display. To activate the control adjustment again, shortly press the button SELECT/ON OFF once. 5.8.1 Matching the beat between 2 music pieces (Pitch Bend) With the buttons PITCH BEND (19) it is possible to synchronize the beat of a title on player mechanism 1 to the beat of a title on player mechanism 2 or vice versa. 1) First match the speed of the current music piece to the speed of the second music piece with the PITCH CONTROL (14). 2) Synchronize the beats of both music pieces with the buttons PITCH BEND: as long as the button or + is kept pressed, the title is played by 16 % faster or slower than at standard speed and the speed indication (h) in the display flashes. 3) By turning the rotary wheel (5), the speed can also be changed for matching the beat. For this purpose the rotary wheel must not be switched to fast forward/reverse or fast title selection [LED next to the button SEARCH/SKIP (6) lights up or flashes]. If so, shortly press the button SEARCH/SKIP so many times until the LED next to it is extinguished.

5.9 Return to a previously defined spot (Cue point) on audio CDs*
To be able to quickly go to a defined spot, it is possible to set two independent starting points (Cue points) with the buttons CUE (16) and CUE 1 (9). Notes for the point set with the button CUE: a With single title replay, the return is only possible within a title. When the next title is reached, the marked spot is replaced by the starting point of the next title (see chapter 5.3.1). b With single title replay as well as total title replay, when selecting another title, the marked spot is always replaced by the beginning of the selected title. To set a Cue point and to return to it while replaying: 1) While replaying a title, set the unit to pause with the button (17) if the spot is reached to return to later. The buttons and CUE flash. 2) If required, the spot can be selected more precisely with the rotary wheel (5). The current spot is replayed continuously. 3) Shortly actuate the button CUE or CUE 1. Thus, the spot is marked internally. The respective button flashes quickly and then lights permanently. The button continues to flash as a request to start the replay. 4) Start the replay with the button. 5) To go to the marked spot, press the respective Cue button. The player mechanism is set to pause at the marked spot. Start the replay with the button or keep the respective button Cue pressed. After releasing the Cue button, the player mechanism is set to pause again on the marked spot.
The Cue points set are deleted when switching into the stop mode when opening the CD tray when switching off the CD player Note: A Cue point set with the CUE button can also be permanently memorized for a title so that it will not be deleted in case of a CD change and can be recalled for every replay of the CD see chapter 7.1. 5.9.1 Button BOP While replaying, it is also possible to go back with the button BOP (15) to the starting point set with the button CUE (16). Contrary to the return with the button CUE the unit is not set to pause in this case but immediately continues to play from the marked spot. By pressing the button BOP several times, a stutter effect can thus be produced. This is the more effective, the more suitable the starting point (e. g. the beginning of a word or start of a musical instrument).

button B/LOOPEXIT. The section between the points a and b is continuously repeated. All three buttons flash and the display indicates LOOP [(i) in fig. 2].
Fig. 7 Replaying a continuous loop
5.10 Setting a continuous loop on audio CDs* and replaying it
With the buttons A, B/LOOPEXIT and RELOOP (18) a certain section on an audio CD can be memorized as a seamless loop and repeated as many times as desired. 1) Switch to replay with the button (17). If the starting point of the desired loop is reached (point a in fig. 7), shortly actuate the button A. The display shows A [(i) in fig. 1]. The button shortly flashes and then lights permanently. The button RELOOP lights permanently. 2) If the desired end of the loop is reached (point b in fig. 7) while the replay is continued, press the
3) To exit the loop and to continue the title, press the button B/LOOPEXIT again. In the display LOOP is extinguished and instead A and B [(i) in fig. 1] are shown. It is also possible to exit the loop by selecting another title or by going to a Cue point set (chapter 5.9). However, the loop is kept memorized. This is indicated by all three buttons lighting up. 4) The loop can be restarted with the button RELOOP.
Fig. 8 Exit and restart of a continuous loop
* Note on CDs with titles in the MP3 format or WMA format Also for MP3 titles and WMA titles it is generally possible to set two independent Cue points and a continuous loop. However, the benefit of these functions is pointless in this case, as both the Cue points and the starting point and end point of a loop cannot be defined precisely to one frame and the replay from a point set will always be started with a small delay.
5) To memorize another continuous loop, the starting point and the end point can easily be redefined with the buttons A and B/LOOPEXIT. The continuous loop is deleted: when switching to the stop mode when opening the CD tray when switching off the CD player
Dann die Taste A drcken.

2) For a continuous replay of the titles activate the total title replay with the button CONT./SINGLEOUTRO (10): Continue [(e) in fig. 1] is displayed. In case of single title replay the unit is set to pause after each title. 3) The memory space number [(l) in fig. 2] of the title currently playing is shown in the display. While replaying the title sequence, the LED next to the button PROG. lights up. 4) The replay can be interrupted at any time and restarted with the button. To select a title of the title sequence, either use the Track Skip function of the rotary wheel (5) or use the Track Skip buttons and (7) [see chapter 5.1.1]. 5) At the end of the programmed title sequence, the unit is set to stop in case of total title replay. The insertion PGM [(l) in fig. 1] in the display and the lighting LED next to the button PROG. signalize that a title sequence has been memorized. In case of single title replay the first programmed title is selected again in the pause mode. The title sequence can be replayed with the button so many times until it is deleted.
6.3 Deleting a programmed title sequence
With the button (4 or 23) open the CD tray (not possible during replay). The LED next to the button PROG. (8) will be extinguished and the programming will be deleted. The programming will also be deleted if the CD player is switched off with the POWER button (25). Note: For audio CDs it is also possible to permanently memorize a title sequence so that it will not be deleted when changing the CD and can be recalled for every CD replay see chapter 7.2.
6.2 Replaying a programmed title sequence
1) To replay the programmed title sequence, press the button (17). If the programming was checked before with the button PROG. (8), the title will start which was indicated in the display when the button PROG. was pressed the last time.
Disk-Identifikation fr Audio-CDs

Disk Identification for Audio CDs
For each audio CD it is possible to permanently memorize for 10 titles a Cue point each, set with the button CUE (16), and a programmed title sequence. The Cue points and the title sequence remain memorized even after ejecting the CD and can be reloaded when the CD is replayed again.
SAVE. It is possible to select between both options with the buttons and (7). Select the option LOAD and confirm by shortly pressing the button PROG. The display shortly shows LOAD CUE. 3) If after starting the replay the button CUE (16) is pressed now, the CD player returns to the memorized Cue point.
7.1 Memorizing/loading Cue points for a CD
It is possible to memorize 10 Cue points as a maximum (1 Cue point per title) per CD (for a maximum of 99 CDs). If more than 10 Cue points are memorized, the Cue points memorized first are deleted. A Memorizing a Cue point for a title 1) Select the title and set a Cue point in the title with the button CUE (16) [see chapter 5.9]. 2) To memorize the Cue point, the player mechanism in the respective title must be set to pause. 3) Keep the button PROG. (8) pressed for approx. 3 seconds: a If no Cue point has yet been memorized for the title, SAVE CUE is shortly displayed and the arrow symbol (m) is inserted. The Cue point is memorized. b If a Cue point has already been memorized for the title [indicated by the arrow symbol (m)], the display shows LOAD and SAVE. With the buttons and (7) it is possible to change between both options. Select the option SAVE and confirm by shortly pressing the button PROG. The display shortly indicates SAVE CUE and the previous Cue point is replaced by the new one. B Loading a memorized Cue point 1) The respective title must be selected [the inserted arrow symbol (m) shows that a Cue point has been memorized for this title] and the player mechanism must be set to pause. 2) Keep the button PROG. It is possible to memorize 16 titles as a maximum per CD (for 99 CDs as a maximum). A Memorizing a title sequence 1) Programme the title sequence according to chapter 6.1. 2) After programming all titles, keep the button PROG. (8) pressed for approx. 3 seconds: a If no title sequence has yet been memorized for the CD, SAVE PGM is shortly displayed and the arrow symbol (m) is inserted. The title sequence is memorized. b If a title sequence has already been memorized for the CD [indicated by the arrow symbol (m)], the display shows LOAD and SAVE. With the buttons and (7) it is possible to change between both options. Select the option SAVE and confirm by shortly pressing the button PROG. The display shortly shows SAVE PGM and the previous title sequence is replaced by the new one. 3) It is now possible to play the title sequence or eject the CD. B Loading of a memorized title sequence 1) Set the unit to stop. 2) Shortly press the button PROG. (8). The unit changes to the programming mode and the arrow symbol (m) is inserted to indicate that a title sequence has been memorized for the CD.
3) Keep the button PROG. pressed for approx. 3 seconds. The display shortly shows LOAD PGM, the title sequence is loaded. If the loaded title sequence includes less than 16 titles, it can be completed by further titles, if required: 1) Reserve the free memory spaces with the desired titles (see chapter 6.1). 2) Then keep the button PROG. pressed for approx. 3 seconds for memorizing. 3) Select the option SAVE in the display with the button or (7) and confirm by shortly pressing the button PROG.

Fader Start via a Mixer

The CD player can be remote-controlled via a mixer with fader start function. Adjust the CD player to the type of fader start switch of the mixer with the switch REMOTE SELECT (31) on the rear side of the player mechanism unit: Position LOCK SW for on/off switch This switch position must be selected for most mixers from the product range of img Stage Line. By advancing the corresponding fader on the mixer, a switch starting the player mechanism is closed in the mixer. When closing the fader, the switch opens and thus sets the player mechanism to pause. mixer

GB Continue Total title replay Cue point: spot on the CD which can be selected as desired with a Cue button. The unit is able to go directly to this spot. If the unit returns to the Cue point with the Cue button, the CD player is set to the pause mode. Digital: information displayed in digits. An analog-digital converter converts the sound waves picked up by a microphone into a sequence of ones and zeroes rapidly succeeding one another (binary numbers: e. g. 1001 = 9) which are then stored on a CD. Each binary number corresponds to a current value of a sound vibration. A sophisticated error correction system removes sound interruptions and disturbances which results in a high reproduction quality. A digital-analog converter reconverts the binary numbers into electric oscillations which are amplified and sent to a speaker. Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC): the EMC directive 89/336/EEC stipulates the maximum interference of a unit and the level of interference to which the unit may be subjected without any problems (interference resistance). Fader start: with a sliding control (fader) on a mixer coupled to a switch or momentary pushbutton, the CD player mechanism can be started by advancing the fader and set to pause by closing the fader. Frame: the music on a CD is memorized in data blocks (frames). The music information for a 1/75 second is memorized in one block. A spot on the CD can thus precisely be located in steps of 1/75 second. LED (light emitting diode): electronic component which directly converts electric current into light (without generating heat like an incandescent lamp); according to its material, it shows different colours or also white. Line (line output, line input, line level): for transmitting signals from one unit to another, these signals must have a fixed voltage value otherwise an optimum transmission is impossible. This value is between 0.1 V and 2 V and is designated as line level. Inputs and outputs provided for these levels are mostly marked LINE. Loop: continuous repeat of a certain music passage on the CD defined by setting a starting point and an end point. The memorized continuous loop can be left at any time and be called later (reloop). Low voltage directive (73/23/EEC): directive for units operating at voltages from 50 V to 1500 V which must therefore have a corresponding safe design for the user. MP3: short for MPEG 1 audio layer 3: a compression procedure for audio data based on the MPEG standard (MPEG = Motion Picture Experts Group: a body elaborating compression procedures for video and audio data) and developed by the Fraunhofer ISS. When converting an audio file into an MP3 file, the data volume of the file is reduced considerably by omitting music parts not perceived by the human ear. The compression ratio for a quality close to CD is 1:10. 1:12 (corresponds to a data rate of 128 kbps.112 kbps). Momentary pushbutton: switch, the contact of which is only closed as long as the switch knob is kept pressed, e. g. bell button. OUTRO: function for replaying only the last 30 seconds of a title. Pitch: the PITCH CONTROL allows modification of the replay speed and thus the pitch. Pitch Bend: function for temporary increase or decrease of the replay speed. The beat of a title on one player mechanism can thus be synchronized to the beat of a title on the other player mechanism. Crossfading from one title to the other will not affect the dance rhythm. Rack: a rack serves for accommodating units of a standardized width of 482 mm (19") to compile complete audio systems, e. g. CD player, mixer, equalizer, amplifier. Relay operation: function for automatic replay of the titles or CDs alternately on both player mechanisms. Seamless loop: the replay of the continuous loop is seamless, i. e. no interruption of the music signal can be heard when the CD player goes from the end point back to the starting point of the loop. Single single title replay Single title replay: special operating mode for DJ applications: After replay of a title the unit is set to pause, contrary to the total title replay. Total title replay: operating mode for replaying one title after the other continuously, contrary to the single title replay. Track: music piece, e. g. on a CD. WMA: short for Windows Media Audio: a compression procedure developed by Microsoft for audio data. Compared to MP3 it is also possible to obtain a likewise good sound experience even at a higher compression. The compression ratio for a quality close to CD is 1:13. 1:16 (corresponds to a data rate of 96 kbps. 84 kbps).
