Installation

Keep this instruction manual in a safe place for future reference. Should the appliance be sold, transferred or moved, make sure the instruction manual accompanies the washing machine to inform the new owner as to its operation and features. Read these instructions carefully: they contain vital information on installation, use and safety.
Levelling your appliance correctly will provide it with stability and avoid any vibrations, noise and shifting during operation. If it is placed on a fitted or loose carpet, adjust the feet in such a way as to allow enough room for ventilation beneath the washing machine.

1. Unpack the washing machine. 2. Check whether the washing machine has been damaged during transport. If this is the case, do not install it and contact your retailer. 3. Remove the 4 protective screws and the rubber washer with the respective spacer, situated on the rear of the appliance (see figure).
1. Insert seal A into the end of the inlet hose and screw the latter onto a cold water tap with a 3/4 gas threaded mouth (see figure). Before making the connection, allow the water to run freely until it is perfectly clear. 2. Connect the other end of the water inlet hose to the washing machine, screwing it onto the appliance's cold water inlet, situated on the top right-hand side on the rear of the appliance (see figure).
4. Seal the gaps using the plastic plugs provided. 5. Keep all the parts: you will need them again if the washing machine needs to be moved to another location.
Packaging materials are not children's toys.

Levelling

3. Make sure there are no kinks or bends in the hose.
The water pressure at the tap must be within the
values indicated in the Technical details table (on the next page).
1. Install the washing machine on a flat sturdy floor, without resting it up against walls, furniture cabinets or other. 2. If the floor is not perfectly level, compensate for any unevenness by tightening or loosening the adjustable front feet (see figure); the angle of inclination, measured according to the worktop, must not exceed 2.
If the water inlet hose is not long enough, contact
a specialist store or an authorised serviceman.
Connecting the drain hose
Do not use extensions or multiple sockets.
Connect the drain hose, without bending it, to a draining duct or a wall drain situated between 65 and 100 cm from the floor;
The power supply cable must never be bent or dangerously compressed. The power supply cable must only be replaced by an authorised serviceman.

Description

The first wash cycle

alternatively, place it over the edge of a basin, sink or tub, fastening the duct supplied to the tap (see figure). The free end of the hose should not be underwater. Once the appliance has been installed, and before you use it for the first time, run a wash cycle with detergent and no laundry, setting the 90C programme without a pre-wash cycle.

We advise against the use of hose extensions; in case of absolute need, the extension must have the same diameter as the original hose and must not exceed 150 cm in length.

Detergent dispenser: to add detergent and fabric softener (see page 8). FUNCTION buttons: to select the functions available. TEMPERATURE knob: to set the temperature or the cold wash cycle (see page 7). DOOR LOCK led, to find out if the appliance door can be opened (see page 5). ON/OFF button, to turn the washing machine on and off. Turning the machine off does not cancel the selected programme.

The LEDS provide important information. This is what they can tell you: DOOR LOCK Led The safety led indicates that the washing machine door is locked to prevent it from being opened accidentally. To avoid any damages to lock mechanism, you must wait for the led to extinguish, before attempting to open the door which takes around three minutes. ON-OFF Led Led flashes when the appliance is switched on and awaiting a programme to be set. A steady light means the appliance has accepted the selected programme.

Starting and Programmes

Briefly: starting a programme
1. Set the desired programme. 2. Set the wash temperature (see page 7). 3. Load your laundry into the appliance and shut the door. 4. Add the detergent and any fabric softener (see page 8). The 5. Turn the appliance on by pressing button ON/OFF led begins to flash, after 5 seconds, the setting is accepted, the led stops flashing (staying on) and the wash cycle begins. 6. To cancel the cycle set, select one of the symbols (Stop/Reset) and wait 5 seconds: when the cancellation has been accepted, the ON/OFF led flashes, and you can turn the appliance off and set a new cycle. 7. When the programme is completed, the DOOR LOCK led will turn off to indicate that the appliance door can be opened. Turn the washing machine off by pressing button. Take out your laundry and leave the appliance door ajar to allow the drum to dry thoroughly.

Personalisations

Turn the TEMPERATURE knob to set the wash temperature (see Programme table on page 6). The temperature can be lowered, or even set to a cold wash ( ).

Setting the temperature

Functions
To enable the functions, press the button corresponding to the desired function, according to the table below.
Function Effect Cuts the duration of the wash cycle by 30%. Increases the efficiency of the rinse. Reduces the spin speed. Comments It cannot be used together with the programmes for wool and silk. Recommended when the appliance has a full load or with large quantities of detergent.

Extra Rinse 1400-600

Anti-crease This function (represented by the symbol ) interrupts the wash programme, keeping the washing soaking in water before draining. It is only enabled in programmes for synthetic fabrics, silk and curtains. It is very useful, because it prevents delicate and synthetic fabrics from creasing (for example, when you cannot take the washing out at the end of the wash cycle but only a few hours later). The programme can be completed by turning knob PROGRAMME one notch. In the case of synthetic fabrics, should you prefer draining rather than a spin cycle,. turn knob PROGRAMME until you have selected the symbol

Detergents and laundry

Good washing results also depend on the correct dose of detergent: adding too much detergent won't necessarily make for a more efficient wash, and may in fact cause build up on the interior of your appliance and even pollute the environment. Open up the detergent dispenser and pour in the detergent and fabric softener, as follows.

Special items

Curtains: fold curtains and place them in a pillow case or mesh bag. Wash them separately without exceeding half the appliance load. Use programme 8 which excludes the spin cycle automatically. Quilted coats and windbreakers: if they are padded with goose or duck down, they can be machine-washed. Turn the garments inside out and load a maximum of 2-3 kg, repeating the rinse cycle once or twice and using the delicate spin cycle. Trainers: remove any mud. They can be washed together with jeans and other tough garments, but not with whites. Wool: for best results, use a specific detergent, taking care not to exceed a load of 1 kg.

Preparing your laundry

Divide your laundry according to: - the type of fabric/the symbol on the label. - the colours: separate coloured garments from whites. Empty all pockets and check for loose buttons. Do not exceed the weight limits stated below, which refer to the weight when dry: Sturdy fabrics: max 5 kg Synthetic fabrics: max 2.5 kg Delicate fabrics: max 2 kg Wool: max 1 kg

Precautions and advice

The washing machine was designed and built in compliance with the applicable international safety regulations. The following information is provided for your safety and should consequently be read carefully.

the impact on human health and the environment. The crossed out "wheeled bin" symbol on the product reminds you of your obligation, that when you dispose of the appliance it must be separately collected. Consumers should contact their local authority or retailer for information concerning the correct disposal of their old appliance.

General safety

This appliance has been designed for nonprofessional, household use and its functions must not be changed. This washing machine should only be used by adults and in accordance with the instructions provided in this manual. Never touch the washing machine when barefoot or with wet or damp hands or feet. Do not pull on the power supply cable to unplug the appliance from the electricity socket. Pull the plug out yourself. Do not open the detergent dispenser while the appliance is in operation. Do not touch the drain water as it could reach very high temperatures. Never force the washing machine door: this could damage the safety lock mechanism designed to prevent any accidental openings. In the event of a malfunction, do not under any circumstances touch internal parts in order to attempt repairs. Always keep children well away from the appliance while in operation. The appliance door tends to get quite hot during the wash cycle. Should it have to be moved, proceed with the help of two or three people and handle it with the utmost care. Never try to do this alone, because the appliance is very heavy. Before loading your laundry into the washing machine, make sure the drum is empty.
Saving energy and respecting the environment
Environmentally-friendly technology If you only see a little water through your appliance door, this is because thanks to the latest Indesit technology, your washing machine only needs less than half the amount of water to get the best results: an objective reached to respect the environment. Saving on detergent, water, energy and time To avoid wasting resources, the washing machine should be used with a full load. A full load instead of two half loads allows you to save up to 50% on energy. The pre-wash cycle is only necessary on extremely soiled garments. Avoiding it will save on detergent, time, water and between 5 and 15% energy. Treating stains with a stain remover or leaving them to soak before washing will cut down the need to wash them at high temperatures. A programme at 60C instead of 90C or one at 40C instead of 60C will save up to 50% on energy. Use the correct quantity of detergent depending on the water hardness, how soiled the garments are and the amount of laundry you have, to avoid wastage and to protect the environment: despite being biodegradable, detergents do contain ingredients that alter the natural balance of the environment. In addition, avoid using fabric softener as much as possible. If you use your washing machine from late in the afternoon until the early hours of the morning, you will help reduce the electricity board's peak load. If your laundry has to be dried in a tumble dryer, select a high spin speed. Having the least water possible in your laundry will save you time and energy in the drying process.

Disposal

Disposing of the packaging material: observe local regulations, so the packaging can be re-used. The European Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, requires that old household electrical appliances must not be disposed of in the normal unsorted municipal waste stream. Cutting off the water or electricity supply
Turn off the water tap after every wash. This will limit the wear of your appliance's water system and also prevent leaks. Unplug your appliance when cleaning it and during all maintenance operations.

Cleaning the pump

The washing machine is fitted with a self-cleaning pump that does not require any maintenance. Sometimes, small items (such as coins or buttons) may fall into the pre-chamber that protects the pump, situated in the lower part of the same.
Make sure the wash cycle has ended and unplug the appliance.
To access the pre-chamber: 1. using a screwdriver, remove the cover panel on the lower front of the washing machine (see figure);

Cleaning your appliance

The exterior and rubber parts of your appliance can be cleaned with a soft cloth soaked in lukewarm soapy water. Do not use solvents or abrasives.
Cleaning the detergent dispenser
Remove the dispenser by pulling it out (see figure). Wash it under running water; this operation should be repeated frequently.
2. unscrew the lid rotating it anticlockwise (see figure): a little water may trickle out. This is perfectly normal;
Caring for your appliance door and drum
Always leave the appliance door ajar to prevent unpleasant odours from forming. 3. clean the interior thoroughly; 4. screw the lid back on; 5. reposition the panel, making sure the hooks are securely in place before you push it onto the appliance.
Checking the water inlet hose
Check the water inlet hose at least once a year. If you see any cracks, replace it immediately: during the wash cycles, water pressure is very strong and a cracked hose could easily split open.

Never use hoses that have already been used.

Troubleshooting

Your washing machine could fail to work. Before calling for Assistance (see page 12), make sure the problem can't easily be solved by consulting the following list.

Problem

The washing machine won't start. The wash cycle won't start.
Possible causes/Solution:
The appliance is not plugged into the socket, or not enough to make contact. There has been a power failure. The appliance door is not shut properly. button has not been pressed. The The water tap is not turned on. The water inlet hose is not connected to the tap. The hose is bent. The water tap is not turned on. There is a water shortage. The water pressure is insufficient.
The washing machine fails to load water.

Programmes

The washing machine continuously loads and unloads water.
The drain hose is not fitted between 65 and 100 cm from the floor (see page 3). The free end of the hose is underwater (see page 3). The wall drainage system doesn't have a breather pipe. If the problem persists even after these checks, turn off the water tap, switch the appliance off and call for Assistance. If the dwelling is on one of the upper floors of a building, there may be drain trap problems causing the washing machine to load and unload water continuously. In order to avoid such an inconvenience, special anti-drain trap valves are available in shops. The programme does not foresee the draining: some programmes require enabling the draining manually (see page 6). The Anti-crease function is enabled (where available): This function requires enabling the draining manually. The drain hose is bent (see page 3). The drain duct is clogged. The drum was not unblocked correctly during installation (see page 2). The washing machine is not level (see page 2). The washing machine is closed in between furniture cabinets and the wall (see page 2). The water inlet hose is not screwed on correctly (see page 2). The detergent dispenser is obstructed (to clean it, see page 10). The drain hose is not secured properly (see page 3). Wait a few minutes for the drain pump to empty the tub, switch the washer off, select one of the symbols stop/reset , then switch it back on. If the knob continues to turn, call for assistance because i t is showing an anomaly. The detergent is not suitable for machine washing (it should bear the definition "for washing machines" or "hand and machine wash", or the like). You used too much detergent.

If the washing machine is sold, transferred or moved, make sure that the instruction manual remains with the machine so that the new owner is able to familiarise himself/herself with its operation and features. ! Read these instructions carefully: they contain vital information relating to the safe installation and operation of the appliance.
Levelling the machine correctly will provide it with stability, help to avoid vibrations and excessive noise and prevent it from shifting while it is operating. If it is placed on carpet or a rug, adjust the feet in such a way as to allow a sufficient ventilation space underneath the washing machine.

1. Remove the washing machine from its packaging. 2. Make sure that the washing machine has not been damaged during the transportation process. If it has been damaged, contact the retailer and do not proceed any further with the installation process. 3. Remove the 4 protective screws (used during transportation) and the rubber washer with the corresponding spacer, located on the rear part of the appliance (see figure).
1. Connect the supply pipe by screwing it to a cold water tab using a gas threaded connection (see figure). Before performing the connection, allow the water to run freely until it is perfectly clear.
2. Connect the inlet hose to the washing machine by screwing it onto the corresponding water inlet of the appliance, which is situated on the top right-hand side of the rear part of the appliance (see figure).
4. Close off the holes using the plastic plugs provided. 5. Keep all the parts in a safe place: you will need them again if the washing machine needs to be moved to another location.
3. Make sure that the hose is not folded over or bent.
! Packaging materials should not be used as toys for children.

Levelling

! The water pressure at the tap must fall within the values indicated in the Technical details table (see next page). ! If the inlet hose is not long enough, contact a specialised shop or an authorised technician. ! Never use second-hand hoses. ! Use the ones supplied with the machine.

Connect the drain hose, without bending it, to a draining duct or a wall drain situated between 65 and 100 cm from the floor;
the socket is compatible with the washing machines plug. If this is not the case, replace the socket or the plug. Your appliance is now supplied with a 13 amp fused plug it can be plugged into a 13 amp socket for immediate use. Before using the appliance please read the instructions below. WARNING - THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED. THE FOLLOWING OPERATIONS SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN. Replacing the fuse: When replacing a faulty fuse, a 13 amp ASTA approved fuse to BS 1362 should always be used, and the fuse cover refitted. If the fuse cover is lost, the plug must not be used until a replacement is obtained. Replacement fuse covers: If a replacement fuse cover is fitted, it must be of the correct colour as indicated by the coloured marking or the colour that is embossed in words on the base of the plug. Replacements can be obtained directly from your nearest Service Depot. Removing the plug: If your appliance has a non-rewireable moulded plug and you should wish to re-route the mains cable through partitions, units etc., please ensure that either: the plug is replaced by a fused 13 ampere re-wearable plug bearing the BSI mark of approval. or: the mains cable is wired directly into a 13 amp cable outlet, controlled by a switch, (in compliance with BS 5733) which is accessible without moving the appliance. Disposing of the plug: Ensure that before disposing of the plug itself, you make the pins unusable so that it cannot be accidentally inserted into a socket. The drain hose may be connected to an under-sink trap. Before connecting the drain hose from the machine ensure that any blanks or removable ends have been taken off the spigot.
If it is place over the edge of a basin or sink be sure the free end of the hose should not be underwater.
! We advise against the use of hose extensions; in case of absolute need, the extension must have the same diameter as the original hose and must not exceed 150 cm in length. Ensure that if the drain hose is pushed into a standpipe, that the end does not go down more than 15cms (6 inches). If the hose is pushed down too far, this may cause the machine to self -syphon ie. continuously empty as it is filling.

Electric connection

Before plugging the appliance into the mains socket, make sure that: the socket is earthed and in compliance with the applicable law; the socket is able to sustain the appliances maximum power load indicated in the Technical details table (see page 5); the supply voltage is included within the values indicated on the Technical details table (see page 5);
As the colours of the wires in the lead may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: Connect Green & Yellow wire to terminal marked E or or coloured Green or Green & Yellow. Connect Brown wire to terminal marked L or coloured Red. Connect Blue wire to terminal marked N or coloured Black. If a 13 amp plug (BS 1363) is used it must be fitted with a 13 amp fuse, either in the plug or adaptor or at the distribution board. If you are in any doubt about the electrical supply to your machine, consult a qualified electrician before use. How to connect an alternative plug: The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: BLUE NEUTRAL (N) BROWN LIVE (L) GREEN & YELLOW EARTH (E)

Detergent dispenser drawer: used to dispense detergents and washing additives (see Detergents and laundry). ON/OFF button : press this briefly to switch the machine on or off. The START/PAUSE indicator light, which flashes slowly in a green colour shows that the machine is switched on. To switch off the washing machine during the wash cycle, press and hold the button for approximately 2 seconds; if the button is pressed briefly or accidentally the machine will not switch off. If the machine is switched off during a wash cycle, this wash cycle will be cancelled. WASH CYCLE knob: used to set the desired wash cycle (see Table of wash cycles). OPTION buttons with indicator light: used to select the available options. The indicator light corresponding to the selected option will remain lit. SPIN button : press to reduce or completely exclude the spin cycle - the value is indicated on the display. TEMPERATURE button : press to decrease or completely exclude the temperature: the value will be shown on the display. DELAYED START button : press to set a delayed start time for the selected wash cycle. The delay time will be shown on the display.
START/PAUSE button with indicator light: when the green indicator light flashes slowly, press the button to start a wash cycle. Once the cycle has begun the indicator light will remain lit in a fixed manner. To pause the wash cycle, press the button again; the indicator light will flash in an orange colour. If the symbol is not illuminated, the door may be opened. To start the wash cycle from the point at which it was interrupted, press the button again. Standby mode This washing machine, in compliance with new energy saving regulations, is fitted with an automatic standby system which is enabled after about 30 minutes if no activity is detected. Press the ON-OFF button briefly and wait for the machine to start up again.

Display

The display is useful when programming the machine and provides a great deal of information. The duration of the available programmes and the remaining time of a running cycle appear in section A; if the DELAY START option has been set, the countdown to the start of the selected programme will appear. Pressing the relative button, the machine automatically displays the maximum temperature and spin speed values set for the selected cycle, or the most recently-used settings if they are compatible with the selected cycle. The programme phases relative to the selected programme and the programme phase of the running programme appear in section B: Wash Rinse Spin Drain The icons corresponding to temperature , Programmed start and spin If the symbol lights up, the display will visualise the set temperature value. When a delayed start has been set, the symbol lights up. If the symbol lights up, the display will visualise the set spin value. appear in section C from top to bottom:
Door locked symbol The lit symbol indicates that the door is locked. To prevent any damage, wait until the symbol turns off before opening the door. To open the door while a cycle is in progress, press the START/PAUSE button; if the DOOR LOCKED symbol is switched off the door may be opened.

Running a wash cycle

1.SWITCH THE MACHINE ON. Press the button; the START/PAUSE indicator light will flash slowly in a green colour. 2. LOAD THE LAUNDRY. Open the porthole door. Load the laundry, making sure you do not exceed the maximum load value indicated in the table of programmes on the following page. 3.MEASURE OUT THE DETERGENT. Pull out the detergent dispenser drawer and pour the detergent into the relevant compartments as described in Detergents and laundry. 4. CLOSE THE DOOR. 5.SELECT THE WASH CYCLE. Set the WASH CYCLE knob to the desired programme; a temperature and spin speed is set for each wash cycle; these may be adjusted. The duration of the cycle will appear on the display. 6.CUSTOMISE THE WASH CYCLE. Use the relevant buttons: Modifying the temperature and/or spin speed. The machine automatically displays the maximum temperature and spin speed values set for the selected cycle, or the most recently-used settings if they are compatible with the selected cycle. The temperature can button, until the cold be decreased by pressing the wash OFF setting is reached. The spin speed may be button, until it is progressively reduced by pressing the completely excluded (the OFF setting). If these buttons are pressed again, the maximum values are restored. Setting a delayed start. To set a delayed start for the selected programme, press the corresponding button repeatedly until the required delay period has been reached. Press the button to enable the option; the indicator light corresponding to the button will switch on. Press the button again to disable the option; the indicator light will switch off. 7.START THE PROGRAMME. Press the START/PAUSE button. The corresponding indicator light will become green, remaining lit in a fixed manner, and the door will be locked (the DOOR LOCKED symbol will be on). To change a wash cycle while it is in progress, pause the washing machine using the START/PAUSE button (the START/PAUSE indicator light will flash slowly in an orange colour); then select the desired cycle and press the START/ PAUSE button again. To open the door while a cycle is in progress, press the START/PAUSE button; if the DOOR LOCKED symbol is switched off the door may be opened. Press the START/ PAUSE button again to restart the wash cycle from the point at which it was interrupted. 8.THE END OF THE WASH CYCLE. This will be indicated by the text END on the display; when the DOOR LOCKED symbol switches off the door may be opened. Open the door, unload the laundry and switch off the machine.

! If you wish to cancel a cycle which has already begun, press button. The cycle will be stopped and the and hold the machine will switch off.
! If the selected option is not compatible with the programmed wash cycle, the indicator light will flash and the option will not be activated. ! If the selected option is not compatible with another
option which has been selected previously, the indicator light corresponding to the first option selected will flash and only the second option will be activated; the indicator light corresponding to the enabled option will remain lit.
! The options may affect the recommended load value and/or the duration of the cycle.

Wash options

Selecting this option enables you to suitably adjust drum rotation, temperature and water to a reduced load of lightly soiled cotton and synthetic fabrics (refer to the Programme table). enables you to wash in less time thereby saving water and electricity. We suggest using a liquid detergent suitably measured out to the load quantity. ! It cannot be used with the 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, , , programmes. Intensive Wash Because a greater quantity of water is used in the initial phase of the cycle, and because of the increased cycle duration, this function offers a high-performance wash. ! This function may not be used in conjunction with wash cycles 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, , ,. Extra rinse By selecting this option, the efficiency of the rinse is increased and optimal detergent removal is guaranteed. It is particularly useful for sensitive skin. ! It cannot be used in conjunction with the 8, , programmes. Easy iron By selecting this function, the wash and spin cycles will be modified in order to reduce the formation of creases. At the end of the cycle the washing machine will perform slow rotations of the drum; the indicator lights for the EASY IRON and START/PAUSE options will flash (the first one green, the second orange). To end the cycle, press the START/ PAUSE button or the EASY IRON button. For the 6 and 10 wash cycles, the machine will end the cycle while the laundry is soaking and the EASY IRON and START/PAUSE indicator lights will flash. To drain the water so that the laundry may be removed, press the START/PAUSE button or the EASY IRON button. ! This function may not be used in conjunction with wash cycles 5, 8, 11, 12, 13, ,.

Detergents and laundry

Good washing results also depend on the correct dose of detergent: adding too much detergent will not necessarily result in a more efficient wash, and may in fact cause build up on the inside of your appliance and contribute to environmental pollution.
! Do not use hand washing detergents because these create too much foam. Open the detergent dispenser drawer and pour in the detergent or washing additive, as follows.
! Do not pour detergent into the compartment 1. Detergent
should only be poured into the compartment 2. compartment 2: Detergent for the wash cycle (powder or liquid) Liquid detergent should only be poured in immediately prior to the start of the wash cycle. compartment 3: Additives (fabric softeners, etc.) The fabric softener should not overflow the grid.

Preparing the laundry

Divide the laundry according to: - the type of fabric/the symbol on the label - the colours: separate coloured garments from whites. Empty all garment pockets and check the buttons. Do not exceed the listed values, which refer to the weight of the laundry when dry: Durable fabrics: max. 7 kg Synthetic fabrics: max. 3 kg Delicate fabrics: max. 2 kg Wool: max. 1,5 kg Silk: max. 1 kg
How much does your laundry weigh?
Silk: use special wash cycle 6 to wash all silk garments. We recommend the use of special detergent which has been designed to wash delicate clothes. Curtains: fold curtains and place them in a pillow case or mesh bag. Use wash cycle 6. Jeans: Turn garments inside-out before washing and use a liquid detergent. Use programme 7. Express 15: this wash cycle was designed to wash lightly soiled garments quickly: it lasts just 15 minutes and therefore saves both energy and time. By selecting this wash cycle (8 at 30C), it is possible to wash different fabrics together (except for wool and silk items), with a maximum load of 1,5 kg. Outwear (wash cycle 10): is studied for washing waterrepellent fabrics and winter jackets (e.g. Gore-Tex, polyester, nylon); for best results, use a liquid detergent and dosage suitable for a half-load; pre-treat necks, cuffs and stains if necessary; do not use softeners or detergents containing softeners. Stuffed duvets cannot be washed with this programme. Sport Intensive (programma 11): is for washing heavily soiled sports clothing fabrics (tracksuits, shorts, etc.); for best results, we recommend not exceeding the maximum load indicated in the Programme table. Sport Light (programma 12): is for washing lightly soiled sports clothing fabrics (tracksuits, shorts, etc.); for best results, we recommend not exceeding the maximum load indicated in the Programme table. We recommend using a liquid detergent and dosage suitable for a half-load. Sport Shoes (programma 13): is for washing sports shoes; for best results, do not wash more than 2 pairs simultaneously.

Load balancing system

Before every spin cycle, to avoid excessive vibrations and to distribute the load in a uniform manner, the drum rotates continuously at a speed which is slightly greater than the washing rotation speed. If, after several attempts, the load is not balanced correctly, the machine spins at a reduced spin speed. If the load is excessively unbalanced, the washing machine performs the distribution process instead of spinning. To encourage improved load distribution and balance, we recommend small and large garments are mixed in the load.

Special wash cycles

Wool: all wool garments can be washed using programme 5, even those carrying the hand-wash only label. For best results, use special detergents and do not exceed 1,5 kg of laundry.

Precautions and tips

! This washing machine was designed and constructed in accordance with international safety regulations. The following information is provided for safety reasons and must therefore be read carefully.
Opening the porthole door manually
In the event that it is not possible to open the porthole door due to a powercut, and if you wish to remove the laundry, proceed as follows: 1. remove the plug from the electrical socket. 2. make sure the water level inside the machine is lower than the door opening; if it is not, remove excess water using the drain hose, collecting it in a bucket as indicated in the figure. 3. using a screwdriver, remove the cover panel on the lower front part of the washing machine (see figure).

General safety

This appliance was designed for domestic use only. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. Do not touch the machine when barefoot or with wet or damp hands or feet. Do not pull on the power supply cable when unplugging the appliance from the electricity socket. Hold the plug and pull. Do not open the detergent dispenser drawer while the machine is in operation. Do not touch the drained water as it may reach extremely high temperatures. Never force the porthole door. This could damage the safety lock mechanism designed to prevent accidental opening. If the appliance breaks down, do not under any circumstances access the internal mechanisms in an attempt to repair it yourself. Always keep children well away from the appliance while it is operating. The door can become quite hot during the wash cycle. If the appliance has to be moved, work in a group of two or three people and handle it with the utmost care. Never try to do this alone, because the appliance is very heavy. Before loading laundry into the washing machine, make sure the drum is empty.

Disposal

Disposing of the packaging materials: observe local regulations so that the packaging may be re-used. The European Directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, requires that old household electrical appliances must not be disposed of in the normal unsorted municipal waste stream. Old appliances must be collected separately in order to optimise the recovery and recycling of the materials they contain and reduce the impact on human health and the environment. The crossed out wheeled bin symbol on the product reminds you of your obligation, that when you dispose of the appliance it must be separately collected. Consumers should contact their local authority or retailer for information concerning the correct disposal of their old appliance.

Care and maintenance

Cutting off the water and electricity supplies
Turn off the water tap after every wash cycle. This will limit wear on the hydraulic system inside the washing machine and help to prevent leaks. Unplug the washing machine when cleaning it and during all maintenance work.
2. unscrew the lid by rotating it anti-clockwise (see figure): a little water may trickle out. This is perfectly normal;
Cleaning the washing machine
The outer parts and rubber components of the appliance can be cleaned using a soft cloth soaked in lukewarm soapy water. Do not use solvents or abrasives. 3. clean the inside thoroughly; 4. screw the lid back on; 5. reposition the panel, making sure the hooks are securely in place before you push it onto the appliance.
Cleaning the detergent dispenser drawer
Remove the dispenser by raising it and pulling it out (see figure). Wash it under running water; this operation should be repeated frequently.
Checking the water inlet hose
Check the inlet hose at least once a year. If there are any cracks, it should be replaced immediately: during the wash cycles, water pressure is very strong and a cracked hose could easily split open.
! Never use second-hand hoses.
Caring for the door and drum of your appliance
Always leave the porthole door ajar in order to prevent unpleasant odours from forming.

Cleaning the pump

The washing machine is fitted with a self-cleaning pump which does not require any maintenance. Sometimes, small items (such as coins or buttons) may fall into the prechamber which protects the pump, situated in its bottom part.

! Make sure the wash cycle has finished and unplug the appliance.
To access the pre-chamber: 1. using a screwdriver, remove the cover panel on the lower front part of the washing machine (see figure);

Troubleshooting

Your washing machine could fail to work. Before contacting the Technical Assistance Centre (see Assistance), make sure that the problem cannot be not solved easily using the following list.

Problem:

The machine does not switch on. The wash cycle does not start.
Possible causes / Solutions:
The appliance is not plugged into the socket fully, or not enough to make contact. There is no power to the socket, or the fuse has blown in the mains plug. The door is not closed properly. The ON/OFF button has not been pressed. The START/PAUSE button has not been pressed. The water tap has not been turned on to allow water to flow into the machine. A delayed start has been set. The water inlet hose is kinked. The water inlet hose is not connected to the water supply. The water pressure is too low. The water tap has not been turned on to allow water to flow into the machine. There is no water supply to the house. The inlet valve filter is blocked. The START/PAUSE button has not been pressed. The top of the drain hose is too low - It must be fitted at a height between 65 and 100 cm from the floor (see Installation). The drain hose is connected incorrectly to the sink trap allowing water to run into the machine, the drain hose must be positioned higher than the bottom of the sink to prevent water flowing down the drain hose. The end of the drain hose has been pushed too far down the standpipe, the U bracket should be fitted 100 mm from the end of the drain hose. The Pump filter is blocked. The drain hose is kinked (see Installation). New Installation - The blanking cap or spigot has not been removed if connected under a sink. The drain hose or sink trap is blocked. The wash cycle does not include draining, some wash cycles require the drain phase to be started manually. The EASY IRON option is enabled, to complete the wash cycle press the START/PAUSE button. The Spin Speed is set to OFF. The Temperature button is in the OFF position. Programme times will vary due to water pressure, the incoming water temperature and if the wash load goes out of balance. This will increase the programme times accordingly (see The machine wont spin properly below).
The machine does not fill with water or H20 flashes in the display.
The machine continuously fills with water and continually drains away or Water left in the drum or Stuck on wash.
The machine does not drain or spin or F05 error code in the display.
The machine does not heat or poor wash results. The programme takes too long or The Display changes the estimated Time to End during the programme. The machine vibrates a lot during the spin cycle.
The feet have not been adjusted, enabling the machine to rock. New Installation - Either the Transit Bolts including the plastic spacers, or the Polystyrene Packaging have not been removed when installing the machine. The machine is trapped between cabinets and/or walls. The load is in a slight out of balance condition and machine is spinning, but at a lower speed. There will always be some motor, pump and drum noise during spin.

The machine is noisy.

The machine wont spin properly.
Out of Balance detected when attempting to go into a spin cycle - If this happens the machine will continue to try to repeat the distribution of the load required before the machine will go into higher spin speeds - This will increase the programme time accordingly. This is a safety feature to prevent damage. Out of Balance can be caused by washing a single heavy item (eg duvet, quilt, etc). - Try the programme again using a different load. The dispenser drawer is blocked with detergent and requires cleaning. The water pressure is too high and requires turning down - turn down the tap on the water supply pipe slightly and try again. The machine is tilting forwards - It must be level when in its final position. The fill hose is loose, check both the cabinet and tap ends. The fill hose is tight but still leaks, if so replace the rubber washers, or the fill hose is missing the rubber washer. The drain hose is not fixed in properly. Switch off the machine and unplug it, wait for approximately 1 minute and then switch it back on again If the problem persists contact the Technical Assistance Service. The machine requires a service wash. Run a 90 degree wash cycle with detergent and no laundry. The door will not open until the door lock indicator light goes out shortly after the program has finished. The door seal has drainage holes at the bottom - This is normal. The water level is correct if it can be seen at the bottom of the door.
The machine leaks from the dispenser.
The machine leaks (other than dispenser).
The indicator lights on the console are flashing rapidly.
The machine smells. The machine door cannot be opened. Door Seal damaged at the bottom. The water level is too low when the machine is washing. There is too much foam.
The detergent is not suitable for machine washing (it should display the text for washing machines or hand and machine wash or the like). Too much detergent was used - less detergent is required in soft water. To comply with new energy saving regulations the machine is fitted with an automatic standby system. Press ON/OFF button for 3 seconds to activate the machine, it can then either be switched off or a new programme selected.
After completing the programme, or before starting a programme, the machine has turned itself off (no lights). General.
Your washing machine contains sensors that monitor progress during the wash cycle (eg: Water Levels, Temperatures, Out of Balance loads, Wash time/progress). Normally, if your machine successfully completes the cycle, there is unlikely to be anything wrong!

Remember, you will be charged for a service call for problems caused by incorrect installation, as listed above. Not emptying contents from pockets may cause pump or drain blockages, or may damage the machine. Do not wash items which do not have a wash label, or wash items that are not intended as machine washable.
