| Average lamp life: 12 hours I bought an LP350 about two and a half years ago. Since then. Buy something else This projector lacks many features including A/V mute. It uses a propritary video cable that has broken on my unit twice. | |

2.3 Use the camera remote control to power on Camera 3. Press button 3 of the Camera Select Menu of the remote control, then press the green Power button while pointing to Camera 3. During a session you may need to zoom in and out, or move the camera views around.
3. Start the node
3.1 On the front of the table rack, press the Power button on each of the 4 AKG receivers. A red LED on a receiver indicates that the receiver is on. A green LED indicates that the microphone corresponding to the receiver is on or muted.
3.2 Still on the front of the table rack, on the Belkin KVM switch, press button 2 for Bank A and button 4 for Bank B. This will allow you to access the Control Computer (Channel 2) on the left console and the Audio\Video Capture Computer (Channel 4) on the right console.
3.3 Log on to the Control Computer (Windows 2000 Professional) on Channel 2. User name: ag Password: xxxxxxxxx This computer runs the AP-800 Gentner software to control the audio and handle the echo cancellation for the node. 3.3.1 Click on the Gentner AP-Ware icon
You will get the AP-Ware window. Go to the File pull-down menu and select Open Site.
In the Open window select AGCOMPLETE.APD and click the Open button
You have opened the site. Now connect to the units. From the Connect pull-down menu select Connect.
In the Connect window, click on the Unit(s) button.
Wait until all the Preset dots turn from red to yellow, and then green. We are using Preset 3. Click on the Matrix button if you want to see the matrix setting.
From this matrix you can adjust different settings.
For example to access the microphones, click on Inputs 1- 8 on the left. You will get a window where you may mute any microphone or adjust the gain level.
3.4 Log on to the Audio\Video Capture Computer (Fedora) on Channel 4-Bank B username = ag password = xxxxxxxxx Double click the 3.1 Service Manager icon on the right side of the Desktop. This will open a Shell Terminal showing the Audio and Video services are started. 3.5 Log on to the Display Computer (Windows XP Professional) on Channel 3Bank B username = ag password = xxxxxxxxx ATTENTION: the Service Manager should be started and running on the Audio\Video Capture Computer Capture Computer before starting the AG Venue Client. Double click the Access Grid 3 Venue Client icon on the right side of the Desktop.
This will start the Venue Client.
You will get the Venue Client window. A venue is a virtual space where an Access Grid (AG) event takes place. Therefore, before running an AG event you should already know to which venue to connect.
The URL address should be the address of the venue server or the address of a venue hosted on a venue server that you will be connecting to. Currently, as shown on the above picture, it defaults to the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) venue server at https://vv3.mcs.anl.gov:8000/Venues/default
You may change this Home Venue if you want to do so. Clicking on the Go button, will take you to the lobby of that venue server, and from there you will see Exits to allow enter other venues. Numbers of AG events are scheduled using the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) AGSchedule at http://agschedule.ncsa.uiuc.edu. The scheduler gives information about the event and the name or the address of the venue where the event will take place. You may also check under the Navigation drop-down menu to see if the venue you want to access has been bookmarked there. In this case, click on the name of the venue to connect to it.
A successful connection to a venue will open a Video Interface Control (vic) window with the name of the venue, showing thumbnail views of video streams from sites connected to that venue. The Venue Client window displays the list of Participants on the right side and Exits to other venues on the left side. To exit to another venue, double click on the venue name. To chat with other participants, enter your message in the text field at the bottom of the Venue Client window and press the Display button.
You may maximize or resize the vic window. Also you may control the number of thumbnails to be displayed across each row by pressing one of the number keys 1 to 8. For example, pressing the 8 key will display 8 thumbnails per row. You may click on any thumbnail and drag it to the wall display screens for you audience to see. A selected video stream can be displayed in 3 different sizes by pressing the key S for Small, M for Medium and L for Large. To delete a selected stream, drag it back from the wall display to the desktop, and press D. Such a selected video stream is shown below.
3.6 At this time on the Audio/Video Capture Computer (Channel 4), you should get a Robust Audio Tool (RAT) window.
The audio reception (Listen) is on by default. To activate the audio transmission, check in the Talk box. Make sure the microphone(s) is (are) on. The volume can be adjusted using the sliders. The following RAT window shows that Jackson State University is talking, and access ig5, access studio4 and TRECC are listening. However, the red half diamond shown for access ig5 shows that access ig5 experience some data loss.
You have successfully started the node. Basically, you dont need to do anything else on the Control Computer unless a major audio adjustment is needed. You dont need to do 14
anything else either on the Audio\Video Capture Computer (Channel 4- Bank B). On this computer, 3 vic windows (Main, Audience 1, and Audience 2) have also been opened, when you entered a venue. The video thumbnails are muted by default. You dont need to do anything with these windows.
3.7 Switch to the Display Computer (Channel 3-Bank B) to monitor the Chat room activities during the session. Having the Audio/Video Computer (Channel 4) on the left console and the Display Computer (Channel 3) on the right console during a session would be very convenient when running the node since you can control the audio and monitor the display and chat without switching channel. Unfortunately, the KVM is currently not functioning well. Note: If Multicast is not available or does not work well, on the Venue Client window, from the Tools drop-down menu, select Unicast. This will allow you to connect to the first available bridge. To use another bridge, from the same Tools drop-down menu, select Bridges, and pick one from the list.
