I recently had a Nokia 6230, and wanted a Bluetooth headset to go with it for using in the car. The Jabra BT300 seemed the best to choose.

Introduction

The JABRA BT200 Bluetooth Headset is a lightweight wireless headset utilising Bluetooth technology. The Bluetooth Multi-Adapter supplied plugs directly into your non-Bluetooth phone to allow convenient cordless connection. (Connection varies with phone model and may require an audio adapter) The Headset contains a microphone and a speaker, and is intended for hands free communications with mobile phones. Power for the Bluetooth Multi-Adapter and Headset are provided by an integral rechargeable battery. The battery must be charged with the supplied charger / holder and mains power adapter. Battery Life is approximately 3 hours (Talk Time) and 96 hours standby time. Please read this user booklet before you start using the product and make sure that you:

Whats in the Package?

Your JABRA BT200 Bluetooth headset includes a Bluetooth headset, Bluetooth Multi-Adapter and charging solution. Enclosed in this package you will find:
One JABRA BT200 Bluetooth headset (Headset Includes One JABRA MiniGel) One JABRA Multi-Adapter Bluetooth Adapter, Audio Connector, headset holder and

battery charger.

One JABRA mains power adapter used with the Multi-Adapter for charging the
headset and Multi-Adapter batteries. (Please use only the supplied compatible charger for this device)
Fully charge your JABRA BT200 headset and Multi-Adapter before you use it the first

time. (see Page 13)

Make sure that connect the Multi-Adapter to your mobile phone before you start

JABRA BT200 Bluetooth Headset Features
1. Headset Indicator Light (BLUE LED) Indicates the status of the headset. 2. Multi-Function Button (MFB): controls various functions of the headset. 3. Volume Control Button: adjusts the speaker (receive) volume + / -. 4. Speaker: for incoming audio. 5. Microphone: voice input for outgoing audio. 6. MiniGel: One-Size-Fits-All for either ear. (JABRA BT200 should only be used with the MiniGel in place.) 7. Charging Port: contacts for charging the battery. 8. Audio Connector: Plugs into your phone to connect the headset and phone together. 9. Stylus Switch: Switch used to pair the Multi-Adapter with the headset or to adjust audio quality. 10. Multi- Adapter Indicator Light (LED): Indicator used to show operating mode of the Multi-Adapter.

Choose Right or Left Ear Wearing Style
The JABRA BT200 Bluetooth headset can be worn on either ear, the MiniGel is attached to the product for wearing on the right ear. To position for wearing on either ear please use the simple instruction as follows: 1. Hold the headset firmly and carefully remove the MiniGel by gently lifting and pulling it from the speaker housing. 2. Rotate the MiniGel 180 from its position. 3. Replace the MiniGel onto the speaker housing. 4. The Headset is now ready for wearing on the left ear. 5. To change from left to right wearing styles please repeat the steps above rotating the MiniGel position for either left or right ears. 8
Placing the Headset on your Ear
In order to wear the headset please follow these instructions: 1. Place the JABRA BT200 Headset behind your ear. 2. Loop the top of the headset over the top of your ear. 3. Place the MiniGel into your ear canal. 4. The microphone will then be positioned in the direction of your voice.
Using your JABRA BT200 Headset
The multi-adapter needs to be ON for the headset to work. To turn the multi-adapter on: 1. Remove the headset from the multi-adapter, this will automatically turn the multi-adapter ON. 2. The multi-adapter will then be in standby mode and ready for use. 3. The indicator light will flash every 3 seconds. 4. To turn the multi-adapter OFF, simply insert the headset to the multi-adpater holder. Turning your headset ON and OFF To switch your JABRA BT200 on: 1. Remove the headset from the multi-adapter. 2. Press and hold the Multi-Function button firmly for at least 3 seconds until the indicator light flashes rapidly. 3. Release the Multi-Function Button. 4. The headset will now be switched ON (standby mode) and the indicator light will continue to slow flash every 3 seconds.
To switch your headset off: 1. Press and hold the Multi-Function Button for 3 seconds until the indicator light flashes rapidly. 2. Release the button. The headset is now turned off and the indicator light will no longer flash. (Please note you will need to wait at least 5 seconds before switching the headset back on.) Attaching the charger cradle clip The charging cradle can be fastened to your belt or clothes using the supplied clip. To attach the clip to the cradle follow these simple instructions: 1. Locate the two slots on the charging cradle as shown. 2. Position the clip with one end in the top slot on the cradle. 3. Press the clip gently onto the charger cradle until the other end fits into the bottom slot securely. 4. You will hear a clicking sound when this is correctly attached.
Using the stylus switch Inside the multi-adapter there is a hidden switch which is used for a number of functions. The stylus switch is accessible via a hole in the multi-adapter, just next to the charging port socket. Inside the hole you will see a small white rectangle which is the stylus switch. Using the stylus provided in the pack, you can press the switch when instructed in this user guide. Using the audio adapter Some mobile phones do not have standard sockets for headsets to be connected. So, these phones often have adapters available to make your phone compatible with standard headsets. Depending on the version of JABRA BT200 you have, your package may include a JABRA audio adapter. To connect the multi-adapter to your phone using the audio adapter: 1. Plug the audio adapter into your phone. 2. Plug the jack plug from the multi-adapter into the socket on the audio adapter. 12

Charging & Battery Time
Before you can use your JABRA BT200 headset, you need to place it in its Multi-Adapter and charge it fully. SEE FIGS 1 & 2 (Please note that the headset can be ON or OFF while charging.) A fully charged battery provides up to 3 hours of talktime, and up to 96 hours of standby time. The JABRA BT200 battery does not need to be completely used before charging you can re-charge the product at any time. If the charger is left connected and charging it will not over charger the battery.
To charge the headset and multi-adapter , please follow this guide: 1. Insert the travel chargers electrical plug into an electrical outlet. 2. Plug the mains travel charger connector into the charger port on your multi-adapter.
3. While charging, the indicator light (BLUE LED) on the headset and multi-adapter are lit, and will remain lit, until both the headset and multi-adapter are fully charged. (The LED will only turn on if the headset is correctly inserted into the multi-adapter.) 4. Charge the headset and multi-adapter for approximately 2 hours, or until both the indicator lights go out. 5. You can now remove the headset from the multi-adapter and it will be ready to use. If you remove the headset from the multi-adapter (with the power supply plugged in) the headset will automatically turn on (standby mode). If there is an incoming call when the headset is in the multi-adapter then you can answer the call as described in section making and receiving calls. Low Battery Warning: The headset needs re-charging when you hear three rapid high tones through the headsets speaker at 30-second intervals, and see the LED flash quickly 3 times every 3 seconds. Once the low battery warning indicators start you have 3-5 minutes of talktime left and you will then need to follow the above steps 1-4.
Linking (Pairing) the Headset to the Multi-adapter
Pairing creates a unique wireless link between two Bluetooth devices such as the JABRA BT200 headset and multi-adapter. You should NOT have to pair your headset and multiadapter they have already been paired in the factory for you. If you want to use a different JABRA multi-adapter or headset, then please follow the steps below: 1. Ensure that the main power adapter is not plugged in. 2. Ensure that the JABRA BT200 is switched OFF. 3. Using the stylus supplied, press down on the stylus switch (see Using the Stylus Switch section) for 6 seconds until the multi-adapter indicator light stays lit. Then Release. (Note that the indicator light will flash during the 6 seconds but keep pressing until on constant.) 4. Without delay, press the multi-function on/off button on the headset for 6 seconds until its indicator light stays on constant. Then release the button. 5. After a short period, both the indicator lights will flash in standby mode (every 3 seconds). 6. The headset and multi-adapter are now paired. You will not need to repeat this process in the future because the headset and the multi-adapter are now paired. 15

Connecting the multi-adapter to your phone The multi-adapter needs to be connected to your phone. To enjoy cordless communication with the JABRA BT200 simply: 1. Locate the headset socket on your phone. 2. Plug in the jack from the multi-adapter.
b) Making a Call Using Voice Dialing 1. Place the headset in the desired wearing style. 2. On the Headset - Press the Multi Function Button. 3. A short tone will prompt you to say the name of the person you wish to call (as entered in the phones voicedial phonebook directory). Speak the voice tag name. 4. The phone automatically dials your selection, and you see the details of the call on the phone screen. 5. When connected you are free to communicate normally via the headset. (Note : Please refer to the phone user guide for instructions on storing voice tags.) c) Making a Call Using Voice Dialing If your mobile phone supports voice dialing, you can use this feature with the headset. (Voice dialing on your phone must be turned on and voice tags stored) Please refer to your phones user guide for more information on voice control. (Note : Please refer to the phone user guide for instructions on storing voice tags.) 1. Ensure that your headset is in standby mode by removing it from the multi-adapter. 2. Press the multi-function button on the headset this puts the headset into active mode and will establish a link between the multi-adapter and the headset. (The indicator lights will flash every 3 seconds you may also hear background noise as well.) 17
Making a Call with the JABRA BT200
a) Making a Call from the Mobile Phone 1. Ensure that your headset is in standby mode by removing it from the multi-adapter. 2. Place the headset on your ear in the desired wearing style. 3. Press the multi-function button on the headset this puts the headset into active mode and will establish a link between the multi-adapter and the headset. (The indicator lights will flash every 3 seconds you may also hear background noise as well.) 4. Using the phones keypad, dial the phone number. 5. To start the call, press the phones SEND / CALL key the phone initiates the call. 6. The call will then transfer automatically to the headset when connection is made.
3. Place the headset in the desired wearing style. 4. Use the phones keypad to initiate the voice dialling. 5. A short tone will prompt you to say the name of the person you wish to call (as entered in the phones voicedial phonebook directory). Speak the voice tag name. 6. The phone automatically dials your selection, and you see the details of the call on the phone screen. 7. When connected you are free to communicate normally via the headset. d) Ending a call from the Headset To end a call when wearing the headset - press the headsets Multi Function Button. Or you can simply end the call from the phone keypad. e) Receiving/Answering a Call Any of three methods can be used to answer a call. In each way you must first press the multi-function button on the headset to put it into active mode. During active mode the LED will flash every second. 1. Headset First Briefly press the multi-function button to make the headset active then answer the call from the phones keypad in the usual way. 18

2. Keypad First Answer the call as usual by using the phones keypad. In this case your can then follow instruction in the section Transferring a Call. 3. From the Multi-Adapter If there is an incoming call and your headset is in the multi-adapter then you must:
Disconnect the power adapter (if plugged-in) Remove the headset from the multi-adapter, and make sure it is switched on. Press the headset multi-function button to put the headset in active mode. Answer using the phones key pad.
f) Transferring a Call To transfer a call from the phone to the headset, briefly press the headset Multifunction button which will start the active mode. Plug the jack of the multi-adapter into your phones headset socket. To transfer a call from the headset to the phone, press the multi-function button which will place the headset in standby mode. Then remove the jack from the headset socket on your phone.
Speaker Volume & Volume Control Buttons
The JABRA BT200 offers louder speaker volume than most headsets due to its active battery powered amplifier. You can adjust the volume to 8 pre-set levels. Volume up (+) and volume down () button will regulate the volume to the speaker in these 8 steps. One step per key press increases / decreases the desired volume until a satisfactory level is reached. An audible tone is played for each step +/- and when either the minimum or maximum volume has been achieved.

Optimising Audio Quality

On some phone models you may hear the echo of your own voice when you are talking. You will then need to lower the echo level by adjusting the volume of your multi-adapter. To adjust the echo level you need to use the stylus switch and follow these instructions:
Ensure the AC mains power is not plugged in. Ensure the multi-adapter is in active mode. (see Answering a Call) Use the stylus supplied to press and hold down the switch for more than 6 seconds
until the multi-adapter indicator light stays on constant.
This is similar to the pairing process, but CONTINUE to hold the stylus switch down

while the light is ON.

After a few more seconds you will see 1, 2 or 3 longer blinks (flashes). After the
blinking stops, the standard standby mode will flash every 3 seconds. There will also be beeps/tones in then headset you may find it easier to listen.

Using JABRA BT200 with Bluetooth Phones
If you purchase a new Bluetooth enabled mobile phone you only need to pair the headset and phone together. You do not need to but a new headset product the JABRA BT200 headset only will then work with the Bluetooth phone without the need for the multi-adapter or phone connector.

Storage Of Headset

1. Always store the JABRA BT200 with power off and safely protected. 2. Avoid storage at high temperatures (above 60 C / 134F) such as in a hot vehicle or in direct sunlight. (Storage at high temperatures can degrade performance and reduce battery life.) 3. Do not expose the headset or any of its supplied parts to rain or other liquids. 24
Warranty & Parts Replacement
Battery: The JABRA BT200 is equipped with a lithium polymer rechargeable battery. Replacement or service must be done at a qualified service centre or returned to the manufacturer. Use only the battery supplied. Use only the supplied and approved AC charger. JABRA (GN Netcom) warrants this product against all defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of original purchase. The conditions of this warranty and our responsibilities under this warranty are as follows:
Any implied warranty on JABRA (GN Netcom) products is limited to two years from
the date of purchase on all parts, including any cords and connectors.
Specifically exempt from any warranty are limited-life consumable components
subject to normal wear and tear, such as microphone windscreens, ear cushions, decorative finishes, batteries, and other accessories.
JABRA (GN Netcom) is not liable for any incidental or consequential damages arising
from the use or misuse of any JABRA (GN Netcom) product.
This warranty gives you specific rights and you may have other rights which vary from

area to area.

The warranty is limited to the original purchaser. A copy of your receipt or other proof of purchase is required. Without proof of
purchase, your warranty is defined as beginning on the date of manufacture as labelled on the product.
Unless otherwise instructed in the User Guide, the user may not, under any
circumstances, attempt to perform service, adjustments or repairs on this unit, whether in or out of warranty. It must be returned to the purchase point, factory or authorised service agency for all such work.
