The ESPII 60 console is primarily designed for the control of devices featuring DMX input circuitry such as dimmers racks and colour scrollers. Units requiring an analogue input (0 to +10 volts) can also be controlled if the console is fitted with optional analogue outputs.

Electronics

The control surfaces shall be scratch-resistant 0.25mm Lexan with legends reverse silk-screened from behind. All operator controls and displays shall be provided on the top operating surface of the console. The chassis shall have sufficient ventilation holes to allow adequate convection cooling of the power supply, provided the ambient temperature does not exceed 40C (104F). Five (5) rear panel option slots shall allow the fitting of optional modules including M card/ video output/ analogue outputs and floppy disc drive. The console shall be the JANDS ESP II 60.
ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERS SPECIFICATION
The console shall provide control of up to 60 control channels (120 in Wide mode) via the industry standard USITT DMX-512/1990 protocol. The DMX output socket on the back panel shall be a 5-pin AXR and the output voltages shall conform to standard RS-485 balanced serial data transmission. The console shall have a standard MIDI In 5-pin DIN connection. The console shall have two (2) banks of preset faders and a flash button with an integral LED per channel to allow direct manual control of stage lighting intensity. In addition five (5) liquid crystal displays (LCDs) shall be provided to enable the operator to view operating parameters and to edit information. A memory capacity of no less than 256 Kbytes is required. The memory shall be battery-backed to prevent memory loss when switched off. The battery shall have a life of at least four (4) years. The console shall incorporate design techniques and electronic filters to comply with Australian and European Union directives on electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

The operating software of the console shall incorporate diagnostic test routines that exercise the different systems on the CPU card. These test routines shall indicate to the operator (using LEDs and/or displays) the result (pass/fail) of the tests. An error message shall be displayed to the operator should the software malfunction or be corrupted.

Operation

Three (3) proportional DMX softpatches shall be available.
The console shall be factory tested and cyclically burned-in for a minimum of 24 hours.

The console shall operate from a single-phase supply of 100 to 240 volts AC 10% with a supply frequency of 47 to 63 Hz and shall not draw more than 50 watts of power of power from a normal power outlet. The power inlet shall be a switched and filtered IEC mains socket with integral fuse, located on the back panel of the console. The power supply shall be a universal-type switched mode supply requiring no changing of internal links to accommodate different supply voltages. A 12V current limited supply terminated on a 3-pin AXR socket shall be provided on the back panel to power a pair of optional desk lamps.

The console shall feature a desk linking function. Mechanical The console shall be a free standing device and be 1495mm wide, 530mm deep and 115mm high.
