Many people complain about the .MOD file format, but its just standard MPEG-2!!! Many people complain about the .MOD file format, but its just standard MPEG-2!!!

Last week I played with an HV10 at an Electronics retailer here in Tokyo, along side the MG505 and Sony HC3. The JVC cam did not impress me. Deleting unwanted video clips or photos is easy. My second camcorder & the first one with HDD. The HDD makes it simpler, no tapes to change or keep & you can get an index of what you shot.

Using this camera for cutting video on in house marketing. Love the Camera !! Easily worth the investment. Poor image quality for the 3 ccd, oversaturated reds and low light is kiling the camera HDD - usb ok to transfer the 10 gb in few minutes

Decent camcorder Shoots good videos, but the 5 MP still photos leave much to be desired. Confirms the addage that cannot have one product do it all. Not as perfect as expected.

JVC GZ-MG505 - The Perfect Camcorder
Everio G, JVC's new series of camcorders
JVC has launched today a new series of camcorders - Everio G - featuring greater performance and functionality compared to the predecessors, the ultimate protection and the latest JVC floating suspension system that reduces the effects of vibrations through advanced polymer shock absorbers. Therefore, the GZ-MG505 3CCD imaging device has a storage capacity of 30 GB (it can record up to seven hours of DVD movie-quality video, more than 10 hours at DVD camcorder-quality, and up to 10,000 still images), it uses a pixel-shift technology to deliver 5-megapixel quality, and it is also able to deliver a native resolution 16:9 (1173 x 660 x3 effective pixels) and 4:3 DVD movie quality video with higher color performance. The new MG505 features include software applications as CyberLink's PowerProducer 3 NE for authoring DVDs, PowerDirector Express NE for editing, and PowerDVD 5 NE for playback, and for Macintosh users -PIXELA's Capty MPEG Edit EX for simple editing and Mono DVD for easy DVD authoring. It also includes a high resolution 10x optical zoom (8x for stills) JVC lens, with 16:9 angles available for video and a DVD burner control which can be connected to a JVC DVD burner - the CU-VD10 SHARE STATION. In addition, the GZ-MG505 features a 2.7" widescreen 16:9 LCD, several USB ports, a built in microphone, and a Megabrid Imaging Engine, which separately processes video and still signal for optimal performance.JVC Everio GZ-MG505 will be available in July for $1,300.

Main Features

1. A 3CCD camera system for a video camera with a built in hard disk drive, an industry 1 first* The 3CCD camera system uses three CCDs for a total of 1.33 million pixels. Light from the lens is divided into the three primary colors of red, green, and blue, each of which is processed in its own dedicated CCD, to achieve a huge boost in color representation. This system uses the Fujinon Corporations highly praised high-precision CCD fixed focus technology, which is utilized in television broadcasting station cameras, to achieve superior images with high-precision color reproduction. 2. Offers 5MB still image recording, for enjoyment of vivid, photo-quality prints The high-precision image processing technology of the 3CCD camera system enables 5MB still image recording.
