"I use this camcorder for job related purposes, and it has worked well for me so far. My only complaint relates to the volume. "I bought the camcorder last week for $359 and I was rewarded with the easy use of the camcorder. I can just flip open the camcorder screen.

My siblings and I bought this camera for my mom for Christmas. We wanted to get her something to capture her first grandchild. Good & smart thing. JVC Everio GZ is good for home user but not for avid video editors. The files are not too user friendly yet.

This video camera is a great camcorder, it is easy to use and pretty inexpensive. This camera does have its draw backs but not the camera itself. After years of borrowing camcorders from friends or family I finally found one I liked enough to buy.

This camera has it all 35x optical zoom never miss that shot again from being to far away. We wanted a new compact camcorder primarily for the family, but also for my husband to use for the military and outdoors. This fit the bill great!

Disc-related terms

JPEG Joint Pictures Expert Group. JPEG is a compressed file format that allows you to save images with no limit on the number of colors. Title (DVD only) A title is generally a distinct section of a DVD disc. For example the main feature could be title 1, a documentary describing how the film was made could be title 2, and cast interviews could be title 3. Each title is assigned a reference number enabling you to locate it easily. Chapter (DVD only) A chapter is a segment of a title such as a scene in a film or one interview in a series. Each chapter is assigned a chapter number, enabling you to locate the chapter you want. Depending on the disc, chapters may not be recorded. Track A distinct element of audio/visual information, such as the picture or sound track for a specific language (DVD), or a musical piece on a video or audio CD. Each track is assigned a track number, enabling you to locate the track you want. DVD discs allow one track of video (with multiple angles) and several tracks of audio. Types of Video CDs There are two types of Video CDs: Video CDs equipped with PBC (Version 2.0) PBC (playback control) functions allow you to interact with the system via menus, search functions, or other typical computer-like operations. Moreover, still pictures of high resolution can be played if they are included in the disc. Video CDs not equipped with PBC (Version 1.1) Operated in the same way as Audio CDs, these discs allow playback of video pictures as well as sound, but they are not equipped with PBC.

The picture and sound of a nearby TV, VCR, or radio may be distorted during playback. Position the units away from each other or turn off the unit after removing the disc. Connecting an Antenna or Cab le TV
a Antenna: Disconnect the antenna from the rear of the TV and identify the antenna cable. If it is a round 75 ohm coaxial cable connect it directly to the jack marked ANT.IN on your DVD+VCR. If your antenna cable is flat connect it to a 300-ohm to 75-ohm antenna adaptor (not supplied) and slip the adaptor over the ANT.IN jack. Dont attempt to screw it into to the DVD+VCR. b Cable TV:
If your cable connection has no converter or descrambler, unscrew the cable from your TV and attach it to the ANT.IN jack on the DVD+VCR. If a converter is required connect a coaxial cable from the wall jack to the IN connector on the converter, and a coaxial cable from the OUT connector on the converter to the ANT IN on your DVD+VCR. This cable hookup permits both TV and DVD+VCR operation.

Insert a pre-recorded video cassette. The indicator lights and the DVD+VCR powers on automatically. 4. If the (TIMER) indicator in the display window is lit press POWER 1/: once. 5. Search

This function lets you visually search for a tape section in either direction: forward and reverse. During the high-speed picture search modes, the audio is muted and horizontal lines (noise bars) appear. Also, a short time is needed to stabilize the tape speed when re-entering the PLAY mode so slight interference may be observed during this time. To search: 1. Press REW (m) or FF (M) during playback. 2. To return to playback, press PLAY (N). Notes:
After 3 minutes in SEARCH mode the DVD+VCR returns to PLAY mode to protect the tape and video heads. During the tape fast rewinding (backward or forward), dont press the same button (REW or FF) again. Otherwise it takes more time to rewind the tape.

Still Picture and Frame-by-Frame Playback
1. Press PAUSE (X) during playback. A still picture appears on the TV screen and the audio is muted. 2 If the still picture vibrates vertically, stabilize it by using CH -/+ on the Remote Control.
When playing back tapes that have been overrecorded with new content, the original audio may be audible during auto tracking.

Auto Tracking

3. Press PAUSE (X) repeatedly to advance the video picture one frame at a time. 4. To return to playback, press PLAY (N). Note: After 5 minutes in STILL mode the DVD+VCR stops to protect the tape and video heads.

Slow Motion

1. While in still mode, press FF (M). The tape is played at a speed 1/19 times slower than the normal speed. 2. Use CH -/+ on the Remote Control if necessary to adjust the tracking. 3. To return to the normal speed, press PLAY (N). Notes: During slow motion, audio is muted and horizontal lines
(noise bars) may appear on the TV screen. This is normal. After 3 minutes in SLOW MOTION mode the DVD+VCR goes back to PLAY mode to protect the tape and video heads.
2. Set the AUDIO OUTPUT option to STEREO so that the left channel sound (L) is heard from the left speaker and the right channel sound (R) is heard from the right speaker.
CM SKIP (Commercial Skip)
This feature is useful for skipping commercials or short program segments. 1. Press in playback mode. The DVD+VCR performs a fast forward picture search through 30 seconds of recording. 2. Press again to extend the search time by an addition 30 seconds. The maximum search time is 3 minutes. 3. When the search is complete, the DVD+VCR goes into playback mode automatically. The other options are (LEFT) POSITION, which results in the left channel sound (L) being heard from both speakers or (RIGHT) POSITION, which results in the right channel sound (R) being heard from both speakers. 3. Insert a cassette and press PLAY (N). Note:

When you stop the DVD playback during copying, the recording on VCR is stopped automatically. The mark of DVD playback will be recorded at the beginning of the copied tape. If you press DISPLAY during copying the on-screen display will be recorded on the copied tape. Do not press any button on the remote control except when you want to stop copying.
