KBIC & KBMM Series of DC Drives Convert to SMT KBIC & KBMM Series of DC drives are now available with (SMT) Surface Mount Technology manufacturing. SMT manufacturing allows a drive to have more circuitry in the same amount of space, or to make the drive smaller. Rather than change the industrys standard footprint, we decided to add more features. SMT manufacturing uses a pick and place machine that visually verifies every part before it is placed on the PC board, virtually eliminating the possibility of inserting an incorrect part. The KBMM Series of DC drive utilizes jumpers for selecting line voltage, armature voltage and tach feedback settings. It is no longer necessary to cut resistors. Standard features now found on the KBMM Series of DC drives are: a green Power-on LED, a red Motor Over-load CL LED, an Enable circuit that allows (Make to Run, Break to Coast). The Enable circuit now allows the motor to coast to a stop, rather than Decel to the MIN speed setting. These additional features were added without a price increase. The KBIC Series of DC drives were also converted to SMT. We decided to leave the industry standard KBIC circuit unchanged, except for the addition of a green Power-on LED. Dual voltage and step-down models of the KBIC do not require voltage selection jumpers. Each drive still has the same features as previous models. A chart follows for your review. DESCRIPTION
The SI-5 and SI-6 Barrier Terminal Board Signal Isolators convert standard KBIC and KBMM controls to an isolated input. The Isolators contain a selectable jumper (J1) that allows for either a or VDC input signal. By using external resistors, the input signal can be changed to VDC, VDC and mA. The output voltage is VDC which can be rescaled via the built-in MIN and MAX trimpots. Selectable AC Line jumpers (J2A, J2B) allow the SI-5 and SI-6 to be used either with 115 or 230 VAC controls. In addition, a +12 VDC power supply voltage is furnished which can be used to power remote transducers or provide an isolated speed potentiometer. Installation is made by simply mating the SI-5 with the KBIC and the SI-6 with the KBMM speed controls via the built-in quick-connect terminals.
