When [2 Subtitle] is selected
1 Automatic (Factory setup) The subtitle language is set automatically according to the voice language. No subtitle is displayed if the voice is played in the language set with 1 AUDIO. If the voice is not played in the language set with 1 AUDIO, the subtitle is displayed in that language. 2~6 English/French/German/Italian/Spanish Select the desired subtitle language. 7 Other Select this option when you want other language than the above. Enter the 4-digit language code with numeric keys. E See DVD menu language code list.
When [1 LPCM (DVD)] is selected:
1 Off (Factory setup) Only the linear PCM audio digital signal with 48 kHz/16-bit recording is output. No digital signal is output during playback of a DVD with 48 kHz/ 20-bit or 24-bit or 96 kHz linear PCM recording. 2 PCM When a DVD with 48 kHz/20-bit or 24-bit or 96 kHz linear PCM recording is played, the signal is converted into a 48 kHz/16-bit signal and output at the digital outputs. The digital output of the PCM audio becomes a 48 kHz/16-bit or lower signal because of the consideration for the copyright.
When [2 Dolby Digital] is selected:
1 Bitstream (Factory setup) When a DVD with Dolby Digital (AC-3) recording is played, the Dolby Digital (AC-3) bitstream (2- to 6-channel) audio is output. Select this option when a Dolby Digital (AC-3) decoder is connected to the player. 2 PCM When a DVD with Dolby Digital (AC-3) recording is played, the signal is converted into a 48 kHz/16-bit signal and output at the digital outputs.
When [3 MPEG] is selected:
1 PCM The PCM (2-channel) signal is output. 2 Bitstream (Factory setup) The bitstream is output.
Recommended setup for [7 Digital Audio Output]
The recommended setup for [7 Digital Audio Output] is variable depending on the equipment connected to the digital audio output. Set up this item by referring to the following table. [7 Digital Audio Output] Setup Digital Audio Output Connection 1 LPCM (DVD)
When no equipment is connected Off (Factory setup)

PCM (*1)
PCM (*2)(*3)
When a Dolby Digital (AC-3) decoder is connected
Bitstream
When a MPEG multi-channel decoder is connected
Bitstream (*4)
(*1) The signal from the audio output of the player is converted into a 48 kHz/16-bit signal just like the signal output from the digital audio output. Therefore, if you want to play high audio quality software with 48 kHz/20-bit or 24-bit or 96 kHz recording, do not connect the equipment such as an amplifier or decoder to the digital audio output (i.e. set [1 LPCM (DVD)] to 1 Off) and connect the equipment directly to the audio output jacks. (*2) Set to PCM when connecting the equipment other than a Dolby Digital (AC-3) decoder. If this item is set to Bitstream, loud noise may be produced and speakers may be damaged. (*3) When this item is set to PCM, any other speaker than the front speakers is set to other option than Off in [8 Speaker Setting] and a DVD with Dolby Digital 6-channel surround recording is played, the digital audio output outputs only the front 2-channel components. If this occurs, set other speakers than the front speakers to Off in [8 Speaker Setting]. (*4) Noise may interfere with the speaker output if the player is connected to a piece of equipment which does not incorporate an MPEG multi-channel decoder. Never connect the player to equipment without a built-in MPEG multi-channel decoder.
