Power plug To AC wall outlet
White Audio cord (provided accessory)
Insert the power plug all the way and securely into a power outlet.
AUDIO OUT (LINE OUT)
CD player etc. Select the input connectors according to the type of the component connected to it. The D.AUDIO input is provided with high input gain so that it can accept the input from the headphones output of a portable component such as a HDD (Hard Disc Drive) audio player. If the line output from a desktop component such as a CD player is connected to these connectors, the audio is played at a larger volume than when it is connected to the CD or AUX connectors. In this case, however, the audio may be distorted if the listening volume is set too high.
HDD audio player etc.
In case an associated system component is connected, also read the instruction manual of the component. Be sure to insert all connection cords securely. If their connections are imperfect, the sound may not be produced or noise may interfere.
Connecting the speakers
Do not connect the power cord plug into the power outlet until all other connections are complete. Before unplugging a cord or cable from the unit, be always sure to set the POWER switch to OFF and unplug the power plug from the power outlet. Be careful so that the conductors of speaker wires do not contact other terminals or the case of the unit.

Footnotes: Vehicle Tracking: Practical fleet size may vary depending on type system, system loading, vehicle poll/repot rates, mixed voice/data or dedicated data channel usage. Supports single base station operation only. KAS-10 does not support single or multi-operator positions via IP-networks. KAS-10 operates in either FleetSync analog or NEXEDGE digital mode, but not both in the same installation (use of FleetSync PC Serial Interface (protocol 2) or NEXEDGE PC Serial Interface required). KAS-10 does not support: Remote Check, Remote Group Add or NEXEDGE Over-the-Air Alias decode for PTT ID (per pre-programmed alias list only). KAS-10 encodes FleetSync Short/Long Text Messages and NEXEDGE Short / Long Data Messages, but subscriber unit storage / LCD display is limited to short messages. Long messages are output in the PC serial interface for use by compatible applications/hardware. The KDS-100 FleetSync Mobile Data Unit is not compatible with NX subscriber units for analog FleetSync or NXDN signalling and messaging. KAS-10 does not require MapPoint to run. Imported JPG, BMP, GIF, WMF and EMF files can also be used. Compatible with MapPoint North American Maps (English) or European Maps (English, French, German, Italian or Spanish) versions. MapPoint 2006 requires 1.2 GB HDD space. The GPS Locator antenna/GPS engine accessory supplied with MapPoint cannot be connected to a Kenwood mobile. NEXEDGE Digital Trunking only. Max number of character will vary depends on the radio model. Longer messages using Short message type will use multiple stacks to send all characters. Custom vehicle/status icon images can be created with icon creating software (*.ico files) and imported for use. Portables support the PC Serial Interface through the ACC connector, but do not support KMC-9B/9C desktop microphone voice calling with the KAS-10. Text Messaging is not available on these models. KMC-9B/9C requires internal modification (contact Kenwood tech support).
