this is the first digital back able to operate completely untethered - just the same as a normal filmcassette. media storage. The Kodak Pro Back Plus is a very fine product. I shoot both off computer and via FireWire with a Mac G4 or Windows 2000 Computer.

Kodak DCS Pro Back Plus is a versatile and dependable imaging tool. Improved Firmware with "long exposure processing" excludes dark current noise.

KODAK PROFESSIONAL DCS Pro Back Plus Shutter Release Cables
The KODAK PROFESSIONAL DCS Pro Back Plus (DCS Pro Back Plus) has a Remote Shutter Release connector on its right side.

Remote Shutter Release

In addition to the HASSELBLAD 555ELD, the DCS Pro Back Plus can be used with HASSELBLAD camera models 503CXi, 503CW and 553ELX. A custom cable assembly, available from Kodak, must be used if attaching the DCS Pro Back Plus to the 503CXi, 503CW or the 553ELX. The 503CXi and 503CW cameras must be outfitted with the HASSELBLAD accessory Winder CW.

Kodak created two new custom cables. The cables are not included with the DCS Pro Back Plus. KODAK PROFESSIONAL DCS Pro Back Plus 553ELX Cable Assembly (EK Cat Number 837 1205)enables the DCS Pro Back Plus to be used with the HASSELBLAD 553ELX camera.

HASSELBLAD Remote Shutter Release Connector
KODAK PROFESSIONAL DCS Pro Back Plus 503CW/CXi Cable Assembly (EK Cat Number 195 3736)enables the DCS Pro Back Plus to be used with the HASSELBLAD 503CW and 503CXi cameras.
Important: When using the DCS Pro Back Plus with a 503CXi, 503CW or 553ELX, the Shutter Release Button on the custom cable must be used when capturing images. Do not use the Shutter Release button on the camera body or the Winder CW. Do not use the Winder CW IR Remote Control unit.
Connecting the 553ELX Cable Assembly to the HASSELBLAD 553ELX
1. Mount the DCS Pro Back Plus to the 553ELX. Follow the instructions in the DCS Pro Back Plus Users Manual. 2. Take the 553ELX Cable Assembly and align the red dot on the DCS Pro Back Plus Remote Shutter Release Connector with the red dot on the DCS Pro Back Plus Remote Shutter Release jack. Insert the connector into the jack.
3. Connect the HASSELBLAD Remote Shutter Release Connector on the 553ELX Cable Assembly to the Remote Release socket on the HASSELBLAD 553ELX.
Connecting the 503CW/CXi Cable Assembly to the HASSELBLAD 503CW or 503CXi
1. Mount the DCS Pro Back Plus to the 503CW or 503CXi. Follow the instructions in the DCS Pro Back Plus Users Manual. Important: The Winder CW MUST be attached to the 503CW or 503CXi. Refer to the documentation included with your Winder CW. 2. Set the Winder CW Mode selector to L (Lock/Off). This prevents unintentional shutter release when you connect the cable. 3. Take the 503CW/CXi Cable Assembly and align the red dot on the DCS Pro Back Plus Remote Shutter Release Connector with the red dot on the DCS Pro Back Plus Remote Shutter Release jack. Insert the connector into the jack.
4. Connect the HASSELBLAD Remote Shutter Release Connector on the 553ELX Cable Assembly to the Remote Release socket on the HASSELBLAD 553ELX. 5. Set the Winder CW Mode selector to S (single exposure). In C (continuous exposure) the longest shutter speed available is 1/8 second. This is a limitation of the Winder CW.

Capturing Images

Depress the Shutter Release button on the 503CW/CXi or 553ELX Cable Assembly to capture images. Important: The Shutter Release on the camera will not capture digital images.
