Kodak Joins the Announcement Frenzy
With three compact cameras, one HDTV dock and one digital frame

Nikon is not the only one to refresh its compact lineup as Kodak also has some new models in store. The Eastman-Kodak company is playing the high definition card, all of the new models being able to show images on your HD TV set, if of course, you have one. Aside from this trick, which by the way can be performed by other models as well, the new cameras are not extraordinary. The Kodak Easyshare V1253 and V1233 have 12MP CCDs and 3x Schneider-Kreuznach optical zoom lenses. Both the V1253 and V1233 models boast Face Detection Technology, which automatically adjusts the camera's settings for portrait shots and the fabled marketing stabilization called "Digital Image Stabilization". Images can be reviewed in 16:9 aspect ratio on the large 3.1-inch LCD screen of V1253 and the 2.5-inch LCD screen on the V1233.The Kodak Easyshare Z812 IS has a lower resolution of 8 megapixels, but a 12x optical zoom lens. Moreover, the model features an Optical Image Stabilization technology that allows you to use slower than recommended shutter times. Kodak touts the camera as being able to go up to ISO 3200, but don't even think about using it at values over 200 (400 if you really really need it) or you'll come face to face with the noise "monster".If you want to view images on your TV you'll also need the Easyshare HDTV dock that processes pictures from Kodak HD-enabled digital cameras, SD memory cards or USB drives. Along with being backward compatible with many Kodak Easyshare digital cameras, the HDTV Dock automatically charges the rechargeable battery so the camera is ready whenever needed. The last item on Kodak's new product lineup is the SV1011 digital frame, which sports a 10-inch diagonal and a 800 x 480 resolution in 16:9 aspect ratio. The frame has 128 MB of built-in memory for storing pictures and videos, built-in stereo speakers and headphone jack for music.The Kodak Easyshare V1253 (US $299.95 MSRP), V1233 (US $249.95 MSRP) and Z812 IS Cameras (US $299.95 MSRP) are now available at retailers nationwide. The Kodak Easyshare HDTV Dock will be available from October 2007 at US $99.99 MSRP. The SV1011 will retail for US $199.95 MSRP beginning in August 2007.
