Remote control introduction
The CONNECT radio universal remote control (called remote control in the following) is a radio and infrared remote control. You can control the following devices remotely: Schneider Electric devices from the CONNECT radio system such as radio sensor surface, radio plug adapters, etc. Schneider Electric devices with an IR receiver, such as TELE sensor surface, blind push-buttons with IR receiver, etc. Up to five different IR AV devices such as TV, DVD, VCR, SAT, tuners, etc.
Display symbols and operating elements for the CONNECT radio system
The figure on page 1 provides you with an overview of the buttons and display symbols. ! Display. Shows the current remote control status and the current menu level.

The essentials
The essentials Inserting batteries
1 Insert the batteries in the remote control (see section Changing batteries).
When you insert the batteries for the first time, the remote control goes directly into the Easy Connect configuration mode. You can go straight to step 3 of the following section.
Devices in the CONNECT radio system
This section briefly explains how you can program radio receivers onto a key on the remote control ("learning" function). You can then use the remote control to operate the learned radio receivers. This quick reference guide is for radio devices which are not yet linked to a radio system (which is the factory setting for the devices). The other configuration options are explained in the other sections of this instruction manual. 1 Install and connect the radio receivers that you want to set up for the remote control. 2 Press the SETUP key [ ] for three seconds. Wait until the status display goes out again. The display now shows EASY CONNECT? and the upper left corner shows. 3 Activate ADD ROOM?. The display shows the default name for the new memory area (e.g. ROOM 1?). 4 Activate the function CONNECT KEY?. The display shows PRESS 1TO9/SCENE. Select one of the numeric keys (1 to 9). The display shows WAIT RCV for 15 seconds. Activate the learning mode on the radio receiver (by pressing 3x): the remote control establishes the connection to the receiver automatically. When the connection is established, OK appears briefly and the display then changes back to CONNECT KEY?. Repeat step 4 for all radio receivers that you want to program onto the same numeric key (max. 12). 5 Press the SETUP key [ ] for three seconds.

Schneider Electric IR devices
Schneider Electric supplies devices with an infrared (IR) interface. You can operate their functions using this remote control. 1 Press the SETUP key [ ] for three seconds. Wait until the status display goes out again. The display now shows EASY CONNECT? and the upper left corner shows. 2 Activate ADVANCED?. 3 Activate USE AS IR?. The display shows SURE?. 4 Confirm/activate with [OK]. The display shows USE AS IR?.
IR AV devices
This section briefly explains how you can program IR AV devices onto the remote control ("learning" function). You can then use the remote control to operate the functions of these devices. The other configuration options are explained in the other sections of this instruction manual. 1 Switch on the device which you want to set up for the remote control. If the device is a DVD player/recorder or video recorder, insert a disc or tape and start playback. 2 The remote control switches over to setup mode immediately: The display shows , and TV ?. The background lighting is switched on. The keys that you can use are flashing.
3 Select device with []. 4 Confirm with [OK]. The display shows and a brand name. The keys that you can use are flashing. 5 Select the brand of the device with [] and []. If the brand of your device is not in the list, you can select any other brand. 6 Confirm with [OK]. 7 Hold down [ ] until the device responds.
The display shows. 8 Aim the remote control at the device. The remote control starts sending all known Off codes one after the other. Each time the remote control sends a code, the display shows the following: TEST 01, 02, 03 etc. 9 When the device responds, release [ ] immediately. The remote control has now found a code which works with your device. SETUP OK appears on the display. If the device does not respond and LIST END appears, no code was found for the device.

1 Switch to configuration mode. 2 Activate EASY CONNECT?. 3 Activate ADD ROOM?. The display shows the default name for the new memory area (e.g. ROOM 1?). 4 Exit the configuration mode.

Naming memory areas
1 Switch to configuration mode. 2 Activate EASY CONNECT?. 3 Activate the desired memory area. 4 Activate the function NAME ROOM?. Use [ ] to delete the letters of the current name. Use [] and [] to select the letters for the new name (e.g. Living) and press [ ] each time to go to the next free position. When you have finished changing the name, confirm the new name with [OK]. The display shows the new name (e.g. LIVING?). 5 Confirm with [OK]. 6 Exit the setup mode.
You can use this function to remove memory areas which are no longer used.
Deleting memory areas
1 Switch to configuration mode. 2 Activate EASY CONNECT?. 3 Activate the memory area which you want to delete. 4 Activate DELETE ROOM?. The display shows SURE?. 5 Confirm with [OK] or cancel the procedure with [ ].
After confirmation, the display shows the name of the next memory area. The selected memory area is removed from the list. 6 Exit the setup mode. This section shows you how to program in a radio receiver onto one of the numeric keys on the remote control, using the learning function. The receivers must all have the same functions. For example, you cannot switch one receiver on and off and dim another receiver with the one key. Tip: First radio receiver on the first numeric key, second radio receiver on the second key, and so on. Make a note of the assignment of the numeric keys so that you do not delete a key or assign it to more than one receiver accidentally.
Linking radio receivers to a numeric key
1 Switch to configuration mode. 2 Activate EASY CONNECT?. 3 Activate the desired memory area. 4 Activate the function CONNECT KEY?. The display shows PRESS 1TO9/SCENE. Then select one of the numeric keys (1 to 9). The display shows WAIT RCV. Activate the learning mode on the radio receiver within 15 seconds (by pressing 3x): the remote control establishes the connection to the receiver automatically. When the connection is established, OK appears briefly and the display then changes back to CONNECT KEY?. Repeat step 4 for all radio receivers you want to program onto the same numeric key (max. 12). If the connection is not established successfully, ERROR appears on the display. Repeat step 4. 5 Exit the setup mode.
To make it easier to use the remote control, you can rename the key. The name is shown on the display when you press the key. This means you would not need to note down the key assignment separately on a piece of paper.

Setting up a rocker with one scene and a definite function Code: [0056] You can assign a scene and a definite function (OFF) to the right rocker of the radio push-button, for example. The left rocker keeps its original functions (on/off; brighter/darker; up/down). In the example shown at left, the upper right rocker is programmed with a scene and the lower right rocker always switches off the receivers in that scene.
To define the scene: set the desired settings for the scene on

Resetting a radio receiver to its factory settings on the receiver itself (by pressing 3x + holding down) deletes only the connections on the device itself. It is still registered on the internal list in the remote control, taking up space in the remote control's memory.
Deleting a radio receiver from the internal configuration list
1 Switch to configuration mode. 2 Activate ADVANCED?. 3 Activate COPY REMOTE?. 4 Activate RESET DEVICE?. The display shows WAIT DEVICE. Activate the learning mode on the radio receiver to be deleted (by pressing 3x). The remote control establishes a connection automatically. If the connection is established successfully, OK appears on the display. Once the connection has been successfully established, the radio receiver is deleted from the radio system. If the connection is not established successfully, ERROR appears on the display. 5 Exit the setup mode.
This section explains how you can reset the settings for the CONNECT radio system to the factory settings; in other words, how to delete all saved CONNECT settings.
Resetting the CONNECT settings to the factory settings
This function deletes all CONNECT settings on the remote control; in other words, it resets them to the factory settings. This applies only to the settings for CONNECT devices. 1 Switch to configuration mode. 2 Activate ADVANCED?. 3 Activate SET DEFAULT?. The display shows SURE?. 4 Confirm/activate with [OK]. The display shows STARTED. Following successful deletion, the display briefly shows OK before going back to SET DEFAULT?. 5 Exit the setup mode.
Schneider Electric supplies devices with an infrared (IR) interface, which allows these components to be operated by remote control (e.g. blinds). You can also use this remote control to do this, so you no longer need an additional IR remote control for these Schneider Electric devices.
After you exit the configuration area, the display shows RF EMPTY until Easy Connect is used to configure a memory area and then link a numeric key with a radio receiver.
Switching over to operation of Schneider Electric devices with IR receiver
1 Switch to configuration mode. 2 Activate ADVANCED?. 3 Activate USE AS IR?. The display shows SURE?. 4 Confirm/activate with [OK]. The display shows USE AS IR?. 5 Exit the setup mode.
It is no longer possible to operate devices from the CONNECT radio system. The key assignments and corresponding functions are defined differently for each device and can be found in the operating instructions for each device.
Switching over to operation of CONNECT devices and other connected devices with radio receivers
1 Switch to configuration mode. 2 Activate ADVANCED?. 3 Activate USE AS RF?. The display shows SURE?. 4 Confirm/activate with [OK]. The display shows USE AS RF?. 5 Exit the setup mode.
Operation of Schneider Electric devices with an IR receiver is no longer possible.

Options Programming in an IR AV device on the remote control

1 Switch on the device which you want to set up for the remote control. If the device is a DVD player/recorder or video recorder, insert a disc or tape and start playback. 2 Switch the remote control to setup mode: Press [SELECT] for three seconds. The display shows , and CONFIG DEVICE ?. The background lighting is switched on. The keys that you can use are flashing. 3 Confirm with [OK]. The remote control is now ready to be set up for operation of your device. 4 Select device with []. 5 Confirm with [OK]. The display shows and a brand name. The keys that you can use are flashing. 6 Select the brand of the device with [] and []. If the brand of your device is not in the list, you can select any other brand. 7 Confirm with [OK]. 8 Hold down [ ] until the device responds.

Then check whether all device functions can be carried out using the remote control: If they can, the remote control is ready for operation of the device. If they cannot, repeat the programming procedure: select the device, activate MODIFY? and repeat from step 3. The previous code, which did not work completely, is not used again in the second programming attempt. As soon as your device responds to the (new) code, release [ ] immediately. If you want to set up the remote control to operate other devices, you must switch the remote control back into setup mode: press [SELECT] for three seconds. Repeat the setup procedure from step 3.
If, after several attempts, a device still does not respond or does not respond to all button commands, a matching code for the device was not found.
Activating/using CODE direct
1 Press [SET UP] for three seconds. The display shows , and CONFIG DEVICE ?. The background lighting is switched on. The keys that you can use are flashing. 2 Using [] and [], select the option ENTER CODE. 3 Use the numeric keys to enter the code. 4 Press [OK].
Adding extended functions
You can add extended functions to the remote control for every device for which the remote control has been set up. For an overview of these functions, see the List of extended functions.
You can only add functions which are available on the remote control of the original device.
Activating/using extended functions
1 Use [SELECT] to find the device, e.g. DVD. 2 Confirm with [OK].
Dispose of your used batteries according to statutory regulations. Batteries should not be placed in normal household garbage.
Faults
Faults when operating devices from the CONNECT radio system. Fault Possible cause/solution The radio push-button/receiver cannot be programmed in (using the learning procedure). Check that there is a battery in the device. Make sure that the device has not been programmed in already. The display always shows ERROR when the button is pressed. Check that the radio receiver is plugged in. Check whether manual operation of the radio receivers works. Check that the radio receiver was not accidentally deleted on the remote control. You have problems when operating scenes. The settings of the receivers may need to be re-entered. Faults when operating IR devices Fault Possible cause/solution The device you want to operate does not respond at all when a button is pressed. Aim the remote control at the device and make sure that there are no obstacles between the remote control and the device. Make sure that the function you want to execute is available on the device. Check whether the battery status indicator is flashing on the display (low battery). If so, insert new batteries. The device you want to operate does not respond correctly when a button is pressed. The wrong code may have been programmed for the device during setup. Try to set up the remote control again. Check whether the battery status indicator is flashing on the display (low battery). If so, insert new batteries. The teletext buttons do not work. Make sure that your television is equipped with teletext. The display shows MEM FULL when you add an additional function. You cannot add any more functions for the selected device, or the remote control memory is full. Restore all original functions on your remote control in order to clear space in the memory. For more information, see the section Options Restoring original remote control functions All user settings are then. deleted.
List of extended functions
The remote control does not switch to setup mode when [SELECT] is pressed. Check whether the battery status indicator is flashing on the display (low battery). If so, insert new batteries. Only five devices can be selected during setup. The maximum number of devices (5) for the remote control is already defined. Further device types cannot be selected.
