1. Intended Use

This device is intended for receiving generally approved radio transmissions in all countries (World tuner) and only for household use. It is not intended for the reception of stations that are not generally approved, for use as part of safety radio systems, such as on board sport boats, or for use in commercial or industrial environments. It is also not intended for climate zones outside of the ranges specified under Technical Data.

2. Technical Data

a) Environmental limits Temperatures: -5 +40 C Relative humidity: 20 80% RMH b) Reception ranges FM: 87.5 108.5 MHz AM Europe: KHz AM USA: KHz SW: 5.85 17,9 MHz LW: KHz This information only describes the technical possibilities of the device! Different countries can have deviating legal regulations regarding the freely receivable frequency range. Take note that you may not utilise, pass on to third parties or improperly misuse information that you might have received from outside of these assigned frequency ranges.

3. Safety Instructions

Transportable world receivers are used in a wide range of climate zones. Particularly when outdoors, take note that.
c) Other Memory positions: 250 stations Timer: 2 Alarm Times 1-59 min. snooze timer Date-specific Timer 90 min. Sleeptimer Output: Connection for stereo headphone 3.5 mm Mains adapter Input voltage: AC 230 V / 50 Hz Output voltage: DC 6 V / 400 mA Batteries: 4 x 1,5 V Typ AA
the environmental limits are not exceeded (see Section 2a). Electronic devices can be damaged by moisture. Extremely dry air can cause static charges that can lead to faulty functions. Excessive temperatures (e.g. direct sunlight) or very low temperatures (e.g. outdoors in winter) can permanently darken the liquid crystal display.

Seite 7

Transportable devices are particularly at risk of accidental damage. You can reduce this risk by paying attention to the following:

4. Power Supply

Important: Make certain that the polarity is correct both for the batteries as well as for the external power supply. If the polarity is reversed, the device will be damaged. a) About the Batteries Open the battery compartment on the rear side of the device and insert four batteries of type "1.5V AA" according to the labels in the battery compartment. Note: Used batteries may not be disposed of in household waste. Return these to your retailer or to an appropriate collection site for disposal. Remove all batteries from the battery compartment if you are not planning to use the device for a longer period. The device can be irreparably damaged by leaking battery acids.

Protect the device against heavy stresses, such as impacts and falls. Select a location in your travel luggage where it cannot be damaged or switched on by other hard objects. When in areas with elevated security requirements (e.g. airplanes), it is best to transport the device without the batteries inserted because it cannot be completely switched off (clock, timer functions,.).
b) External Power Supply Connect the power supply adapter DC 6.V / 400 mA to the power supply jack. Note: The radio station memory described in section 7 will be deleted if the device is without power supply for more than approx. 30 seconds. You should therefore keep the external power supply connected when changing the batteries or complete the task within 30 seconds!

5. Switching On / Off

With this device, you can only switch the reception operation on and off. The clock for time and date as well as the timer continue to function for as long as the device is supplied with power. a) Switching On To switch on the device, briefly press the button RADIO ON / SLEEP once. In the display, ON appears initially, followed by the selected frequency. b) Switching Off Immediately To switch off, press the key SNOOZE / Radio off , or. the button RADIO ON / SLEEP repeatedly until OFF appears in the display.

Seite 9

c) Switching Off with Time Delay If you would like to listen to the radio for a while longer, for instance before falling asleep, but would like the device to switch off automatically after a certain amount of time (10.90 minutes),. press the button RADIO ON / SLEEP repeatedly until the desired number of minutes is shown in the display (10. 90). The countdown begins immediately with the first press of this button. If you do not change the remaining time, the display will switch back to the set frequency. You can check the remaining time or reduce it by pressing the. button RADIO ON / SLEEP again.

6. Receive Mode

As soon as the device is switched on as described under 5., it is already in receive mode. a) Setting the Volume Press the buttons Volume Control, to adjust the volume. b) Selecting the Reception Range (Band) Select the desired reception range with the sliding switch: - FM = Ultra short wave - AM = Medium Wave - SW = Short Wave - LW = Long Wave

Seite 10

c) Changing the Medium Wave Range The frequency range and tuning intervals of AM vary by region: Region Europe: (9KHz) Region USA: (10KHz) When the device is switched off, and the date and time appear alternatively in the display: Press the key MODE repeatedly until EU 9k appears in the display. The device stops as soon as a sufficiently strong station is found. Pressing the button again will continue the scan. e) Radio Station Fine Tuning When scanning, the middle point of the individual radio station signal is used for tuning. As a rule, this is sufficient. Should this automatic tuning not lead to satisfactory reception, then for every reception range (Band) except the LW (Band), a fine tuning can be carried out.

- 10 -

Seite 11
Press the button Fine Set. In the display FINE appears. Now press one of the two TUNING buttons, to raise or lower the frequency in small steps. Press the button Fine Set again to deactivate the fine tuning. In the display, FINE disappears. f) Sensitivity on Short Wave SW If the the scan process frequently lasts too long, for instance because too many signals are received in the evening, the sensitivity can be reduced to short wave (local reception). Set the sensitivity switch to - LO for local reception - DX for long-range reception.
g) Sensitivity and Antenna Use the telescope antenna for FM and short wave SW. You can alter the reception strength by adjusting the length, inclination and direction of the antenna. A ferrite antenna is built into the device for medium wave (AM) and long wave (LW) reception. Turn the entire device to alter the reception strength.

7. Memory

A total of 250 memory positions are available - specifically -. - 6 blocks of 10 positions for FM - 6 blocks of 10 positions for AM - 10 blocks of 10 positions for SW - 3 blocks of 10 positions for LW. The blocks are also designated as Pages
