DIGITAL LASER MEASURING TAPE KH 3259

Intended use

This product is intended for use by DIY enthusiasts in domestic environments, not for commercial or industrial applications.

Safety information

To avoid eye damage:
This appliance contains a Class 2 Laser. NEVER direct the laser beam at people or animals. NEVER look directly into the laser beam. Do NOT direct the laser beam at strongly reflective materials, such as mirror-like objects. The laser light could be reflected back and into the eyes. Be especially careful if you wear contact lenses or spectacles, and also with light bundling devices such as magnifying glasses. These can intensify the risk for your eyes.

Do not wear sunglasses or other protective glasses when using the laser. They offer NO protection against the laser light and can interfere with the safe and secure recognition of the laser beam. Never open the housing of the appliance. If you do, there is a risk the laser light could exit without control and cause eye damage. Take steps to ensure that, when the appliance is in use, the beam direction cannot be inadvertantly changed, for example by an accidental collision. This could cause the laser beam to be directed straight into someones eyes.
To avoid damaging the device:
Do not permit dust or dirt to penetrate into the appliance. Do not use it in moist or damp environments. Remove the batteries if you do not intend to use the appliance for an extended period batteries discharge themselves and can then leak. Always and only use replacement batteries of the type detailed in the technical data.
To avoid the risks of accidents and personal injuries:
Do not let a wholly or partly drawn-out measuring tape retract abruptly through the momentum it could thrash about and cause injuries. It is best to retract it in short segments only. To avoid cuts and lacerations, keep your hands away from the measuring tape when retracting it. Always check to ensure that the appliance is in a serviceable condition before taking it into use. If the appliance is visibly damaged in any way, it may not be used. Arrange for it to be safety-checked by Customer Services first.

This appliance is not intended for use by individuals (including children) with restricted physical, physiological or intellectual abilities or deficiences in experience and/or knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or receive from this person instruction in how the appliance is to be used. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

Warning:

The laser beam radiates in the direction of the withdrawn measuring tape. The laser exit opening 8 is located above the measuring tape!

Inserting the batteries

Open the battery compartment 7 and insert two batteries as shown in the diagramme. Close the battery compartment. The appliance is now ready for use. When the battery symbol appears in the digital display 4, replace the batteries as described in the technical data.

Utilisation

Digital Laser Tape Measure Switching On/Off
Press on the button 5 once, to switch on the digital display 4 and the laser. twice, to switch the laser back off. three times, to also switch the digital display 4 back off.

Selecting the unit of measurement (cm/m)
Press and hold, with a switched on digital display 4, the button 5, until the measurement unit m (Meter) is shown in the digital display 4. To return to the measurement unit cm (centimeter), press and hold the button 5 once again.
When switching the appliance on, the last used measurement unit appears in the digital display 4.
Using the Digital Laser Tape Measure
Press the release button 6 to be able to withdraw the measuring tape 2 with greater ease. When you let go of it, the measuring tape is locked. When it is pressed again, the measuring tape is once more free to move, e.g. for automatic retraction or to be pulled further out. If you switched the digital display 4 on before pulling out the tape, this will show the distance between the leading edge of the appliance and the indentation 1 on the measuring tape. If you first switch the digital display 4 on during or after pulling out the tape, it will then show the error message Err. Use the water glasses 3 to utilise the spirit level function in the appliance. When the air bubbles are between the markings, the appliance is lined up horizontally on all sides.

Using the Laser Marking Function
Press once on the button 5 to switch the laser on. Place the laser against the desired wall and align it for vertical line marking with the help of the water glasses 3.

Mark the required points. Press once on the button 5 to switch the laser off.
Should you wish to project a horizontal line on the wall, tip the appliance through 90 degrees. Align the Digital Laser Tape Measure with the help of the water glasses 3 for horizontal lines.

Cleaning and Maintenance

First remove the batteries 7 before cleaning the appliance. This will prevent the inadvertent switching on of the appliance during cleaning. Clean the appliance with a dry or lightly moistened cloth only. To avoid potential damage to the upper surfaces, do not use any abrasive cleaning agents or detergents. If contamination is visible at the laser exit opening 8, carefully remove it with a cotton stick.

Maintenance

NEVER open any parts of the appliance. Arrange for the appliance to be repaired by specialists only. The appliance is maintenance-free. No form of maintenance, either on or in the appliance, is intended for execution by the user. In the event of malfunction or apparent damage, make contact with Customer Services.

Disposal
Do not dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste. This product is subject to the European guideline 2002/96/EC. Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal centre or at your community waste facility. Observe the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre.

Battery disposal!

Batteries may not be disposed of with normal domestic waste. All consumers are statutorily obliged to dispose of batteries at the collection point in their community/district or with the original supplier. The purpose of this obligation is to ensure that batteries can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. Only dispose of batteries when they are fully discharged.

Dispose of all packaging materials in an environmentally friendly manner.
