Safety instructions

Do not dismantle a twilight switch since there is a danger of an electric shock. If liquid should penetrate the device, disconnect it from the power supply immediately to avoid the danger of a fire or an electric shock. Do not try to repair the twilight switch yourself if it should be faulty. If it does not function correctly or is in need of repair, please contact our service partner near you. Before cleaning the twilight switch, disconnect it from the power supply. Use a soft, clean, damp cloth for cleaning purposes. Make sure that any appliances to be connected to the twilight switch have the CE mark. Do not connect any electrical appliances that should only be used under supervision (e.g. iron etc.) to the twilight switch! Note: The current consumption of the appliances you wish to connect to the twilight switch should not be greater than 660 Watts. Never connect an appliance with a current consumption of more than 2300 Watts to the twilight switch! Warranty or liability will not be accepted for damage to the device resulting from improper handling.

Operating instructions

Congratulations on your purchase of a Tronic twilight switch with integrated timer! Your Tronic twilight switch with integrated timer and random time switch is easy to use and fits any socket. The device can switch electrical appliances of all kinds (e.g. lamps, stereo systems etc.) on and off, depending on a preset time interval or the given light conditions. If the random function is activated, the twilight switch switches the appliance connected on or off at random intervals.

Photo cell Light sensitivity regulator Random switch Rotary button for function selection Function control lamp
Function control lamp The red function control lamp on the front of the twilight switch lights up as soon as it is switched on using the function selection switch (ON). Your new Tronic twilight switch has the following five functions available: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Timer switch Random function ON OFF Twilight switching
Note: If you would like to use the timer switch or the random function, remove the twilight switch from the socket before carrying out the settings.

Operation and setting

1. Timer switch The timer switch function switches on the appliance connected at dusk for a period pre-set by the user. The appliance switches off automatically when the set time has passed or dawn breaks (whichever happens first). 1. Set the random switch to OFF. 2. Use the rotary function selection button to set the required period (2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 hours). 3. Connect the required appliance to the twilight switch. 2. Random function The random function is particularly useful when no-one is at home. Your twilight switch can protect you from burglars by making your house seem occupied, e.g. when you are on holiday. The appliance connected switches on and off automatically during the period set at random intervals (or with increasing daylight level). 1. Set the random switch to ON. 2. Use the rotary function selection button to set the required period (2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 hours) 3. Connect the required appliance to the twilight switch. 3. ON (manual switching on) Set the function selection button to ON. Your twilight switch will now remain on permanently. 4. OFF (manual switching off) Set the function selection button to OFF. Your twilight switch will now remain off permanently.
5. Twilight switching When this function is set, the appliance connected switches on automatically as daylight fades at dusk and off again as the daylight level increases during the dawn hours. 1. Set the function selection button to Dusk to Dawn. 2. Connect the required appliance to the twilight switch. Setting the light sensitivity level You can set the sensitivity of the timer using the light sensitivity regulator on the device. A slot screwdriver is required for this. 1. Set the function selection button to Dusk to Dawn. 2. First, turn the sensitivity regulator anticlockwise using the slot screwdriver. 3. Now turn the regulator a few millimetres clockwise at full daylight level. The further you turn the regulator clockwise, the earlier the timer will switch on. Wait five seconds for the timer to switch on. 4. If the timer does not switch on, turn the regulator a few millimetres further clockwise and wait for another five seconds. Repeat the procedure until the appliance connected to the twilight switch switches on. 5. If the function control lamp does not switch off, repeat step 3 until it does. Note: The settings of the timer switch or the random mode remain stored when the device switches off at dawn. To delete all the settings you have made, remove the device from the power supply for at least 15 seconds. Important: The twilight switch should only be inserted in sockets where it is subject to direct sunlight. The photo cell orientates itself towards environmental brightness. For this reason, make sure that the twilight switch is not influenced by interior or

exterior lighting. While your twilight switch is in operation, the light sensitivity of the photo cell is automatically reduced to prevent a lamp switched on by the twilight switch influencing the function of the photo cell. If you would like to switch an appliance connected to the twilight switch on or off, you must do this only on the appliance itself and not by switching the twilight switch off.
