Description Intermittent skew when feeding from Tray 3 or Tray 4. Solution PROBABLE CAUSES: 1. Improper environmental conditions, specifically lack of humidity is creating a build up of static electricity in the Tray 3 and Tray 4 paper conveyance units, resulting in paper skew. Environmental locations must meet the machine installation temperature and humidity requirements as outlined in the 7065 User's Manual on page 2-5. The User's Manual states "avoid any environment that is outside 50 degrees C-86 degrees F (10 degrees-30 degrees C), with 10-80% humidity". When static build up has been confirmed as the cause of the skewing problem, implementation of the following combination of steps, has been successful in reducing paper skew: a. Installation of static elimination sheets under the paper lift plate in Tray 3 (p/n 12EJ47062) and Tray 4 (p/n 25SA-5850). b. Application of a static elimination solvent on the conveyance guide plates of Tray 3 and Tray 4. c. Installation of a room humidifier, which will reduce the build up of static electricity associated with dry air. 2. The paper feed conveyance roller (left) is warped. Replace the paper feed conveyance roller (left) (p/n 55TA40480). Solution ID Description E46-06. Solution Note: This failure code indicates a problem with either the Image Processing board, E-RDH board, or main CB. PROBABLE CAUSES: 1. The SIMMs on the E-RDH board are damaged or not properly seated. Check for damaged pins or correct memory modules. Replace as necessary. 2. Failed E-RDH board. Remove the E-RDH board and inspect each wiring harness for backed out pins or mis-seated connectors. Pay close attention to the rear connector of the E-RDH board to the E-RDH I/F board. Reassemble and verify operation. If error still occurs, replace the E-RDH board (p/n 55FA-9620). Solution ID TAUS0614374EN* Solution Usage 3 TAUS0614216EN* Solution Usage 3

Description F51-5 at power up. Solution PROBABLE CAUSES: 1. The drum cleaning blade has flipped. Check the following. Non-Konica brand drums and setting powder were used. Use Konica setting powder (p/n 000V-19-0) and drums (PCUA 950786). 2. Cleaning blade was not sufficiently coated with setting powder and/or toner. Liberally apply toner to the drum and cleaning blade, making sure to coat the areas of the blade that contact the metal ends of the drum. Note: See page 1-80 in the 7060 Service Manual (12/98) for information on installing the cleaning blade. 3. If Konica supplies are being used and the cleaning blade is being properly installed, but the cleaning blade flipping still occurs, a temporary countermeasure is recommended. Use a light application of silicon oil from a fixing pad (p/n 25SA-5350 or p/n 55FA-5350) to decrease the drag/friction on the front drum flange. To apply the silicon oil, perform the following: a. Remove the drum from the drum carriage. b. Apply setting powder on the entire drum surface. c. Fit drum, cleaning blade and cleaner cover on drum carriage. d. Fit drum fixing material/Front and Rear on drum carriage. e. Rotate drum fixing material/Front and Rear to make the drum rotate clockwise once. f. Remove drum and apply silicon oil to the position shown in the drum hyperlink. Wipe the silicon oil softly with the cleaning pad in the direction indicated by the arrow. Note: A very small amount of silicon oil is effective. To prevent oil from covering the OPC surface of the drum, only apply a small amount of oil. If silicon oil is applied on the OPC surface, image deterioration may occur. Accordingly, make sure to wipe off any excess oil thoroughly and apply setting powder again as needed. g. Fit drum on the drum carriage. h. Apply toner on both edges of the cleaning blade (front side approximately 35mm and rear side approximately 20mm). i. Fit cleaning blade and other parts with the reverse order of removing them. Notes: 1. Although it is not confirmed that drum blade flipping is heat related, Konica recommends against storing PM kits in temperatures outside of the specified range of 57 to 219 degrees F. Since this range may be exceeded in a car trunk, special care may be required. Also guard against a buildup of heat in the machine due to clogged fuser exhaust filters, machine too close to the wall, or by being near a window that shines enough light on the back of the machine to increase the internal temperature. 2. If Konica supplies were used, and the blade was properly lubricated with setting powder or toner, please send all flipped cleaning blades with serial number of machine, total count, and copy count since the blade was installed, to: Konica Business Technologies Dept. D709 Technical Support 500 Day Hill Road Windsor CT 06095 3. The Konica 7065 is a digital printer/copier that can be used as a stand-alone copier, or it can be used as a high-speed network printer when connected to the optional IP-303 Image Processor. The Konica 7065 can also be used as a print server on a network operating system when installed with the optional KN-301 Network Interface Card. Separate users manuals and installation instructions are included with the optional IP303 and KN-301 devices. Digital technology and memory capability of the Konica 7065 provide many advantages over the conventional photocopying process. In conventional photocopying, a scanned image virtually remains intact as it is represented on the drum and then copied onto the output media. While many conventional settings can be made before outputting the copies to effect image reduction, lens adjustment, image erasure and job store, etc., the conventional photocopying process cannot transform the image into bits or store image data into memory. In the Konica 7065, a scanned image is electronically digitized into data bits that are represented in code form and stored into memory. Stored data can be retrieved from memory and output in various ways, as controlled by software. Digitized image is represented as pixels on a screen or as dots per inch (dpi) on hard copy. The Konica 7065 resolves image in the copier mode at 400 dpi and resolves image in the printer mode at 600 dpi. Konica 7065 digital technology enables you to: feed originals only once to make multiple copies, thereby preserving the condition of originals store image in memory and perform Sheet/Cover insertion, Chapter, Combination, Booklet, Image insert, Book copy, Overlay, Mixed original, Repeat, Image shift enhance photo, complex text image quality, and enhance lighter image reduce toner consumption and produce clean copies with Non-image area erase organize images into booklet format scan up to 1500 original pages from the platen or document feeder, store the data into memory, then copy the entire set in one job insert images scanned from the platen into a set scanned from the document feeder check copying conditions and produce a proof copy before making multiple copied sets confirm the current machine status complete large copying jobs in less time with two copiers performing in Tandem mode (option).

Key Operator Mode
The key operator is trained to handle all special key operator functions that are not accessible to the general user, such as monitoring overall copier activity, machine performance, and service information; modifying machine settings; and controlling user activity, for billing purposes. A unique 4-digit key operator password is normally set by service at installation. If the unique code is not set by service, the copier will not display Key Operator Password Entry Screen when the Key Operator mode is being accessed, and a key operator password will not be required. A service-set 8-digit ECM master key code must be entered by the key operator to access the Electronic Copy Monitor functions, and a service-set 4-digit Weekly timer master key code must be entered by the key operator to access the Weekly timer functions. To ensure the security of Key Operator mode, it is recommended that you establish a unique key operator password, along with the key operator ECM master key code and Weekly timer master key code, and keep them in a confidential file.

SHEET INSERTION RESULT IS NOT AS EXPECTED
Blank insertion: Be sure manuscript originals do not already include blank sheets in the locations designated for sheet insertion. Copy insertion: To ensure that chapter sheets in 1-2 mode always appear on the right hand side in the finished set, insertion sheets must be designated on the page setting screen with odd numbers, not even. If required, make an even numbered original page odd by inserting a blank sheet in front of that page, so that the blank sheet is even and the insertion sheet is odd.
FINISHER STAPLE RESULT IS NOT AS EXPECTED
The 2 staple position functions only on copy paper that is loaded vertically (portrait style).
USING TRIMMER, COPIES CANNOT BE TRIMMED
Check to see if the message Trash basket of Trimmer is full is displayed. Empty trash basket.
