ARC (Aspect Ratio Correction)
You can watch the screen in various picture formats; Original, Spectacle, Full, 4:3, 16:9 (Wide), 14:9 and Zoom.
Original When your TV receives the wide screen signal, it will automatically adjust to the picture format received. Spectacles When your TV receives the wide screen signal, this selection will lead you to adjust the picture horizontally, in non-linear proportion, to fill the entire screen. Full When your TV receives the wide screen signal, this selection will lead you to adjust the picture horizontally or vertically, in a linear proportion, to fill the entire screen fully.
4:3 Following 4:3 selection will lead you to view a picture with an original 4:3 aspect ratio, with gray bars appearing on both left and right sides. 16:9 (Wide) This selection will lead you to adjust the picture horizontally, in a linear manner to fill the entire screen (useful for viewing 4:3 formatted DVDs). Zoom This selection will lead you to view the picture without any alterations whilst filling the entire screen. However, the top and bottom portions of the picture will be cropped.
Flexible PIP Users can freely adjust PIP size and PIP position with the remote control.
Double Window Two large windows are displayed at the same time with different input sources. The Swapping function makes it possible to swap two pictures.

3D Noise Reduction

While XD Engine 2005 was limited to noise reduction within only the current frame, XD Engine 2006 is now able to apply a 3-step algorithm that allows for more detailed control. This function goes hand in hand with the noise reduction step that is taken during Sharpness Enhancement. This 3-step algorithm enables image noise reduction to be applied to the previous and next frame as it works on the current frame.
HD Scaling Function Low Resolution to High Resolution
HD Scaling Function is a technology that successfully converts low resolution analog images into high resolution HD images. Whenever a picture is transmitted via SD signal or analog broadcast of low resolution, LGs unique 3-tier algorithm scales the image accordingly to generate a clear and realistic image. This type of technology eliminates any awkward transitions between different images and colors and cleans up fuzzy images.

Natural & Emotional Color Embodiment
Whats the difference? Like the equalizer of an audio system, this function helps control images to produce images that possess the appropriate color and feel. Skin color is represented more naturally, greens are greener and blues are bluer.
Hue & Saturation Control
100% Natural Color Embodiment As represented on the UV (color element that excludes brightness from the signal) plot, hue & saturation control assigns domains for skin tones, greens, and blues. Thereafter, this function coordinates each color with a suitable hue & saturation level to yield the most natural skin tone, the greenest green and the bluest blue.
Color Temperature Control
An emotional representation of colors. As represented on the UV (color element that excludes brightness from the signal) plot, colors are separated according to which domain they are closest to. After the division, each domains appropriate color temperature, in other words, feel, is adjusted to match the image.

Dynamic Contrast
XD Engine expands the controllable range of contrast so it can produce an optimized image for both the bright and dark areas of each picture frame.
XD Engine 2005 - Focus on certain critical areas of the picture frame. XD Engine - Normalizes overall picture frame data
XD Engine 2005 controls bright and dark areas of images individually because the number of control points is limited.

Whats the difference?

Conventional

Clear Filter

If you direct a laser pointer on a CLEAR FILTER screen, only a single spot appears without double image. However, on a conventional screen two spots appear due to the internal mirror reflection.
Placing a paper on the screen is also a good way to discern the difference between a CLEAR FILTER screen and a conventional screen. With CLEAR FILTER, images can be seen through the paper whereas with conventional screens, images are blurred and unclear because of the air gap between glass and module.
CLEAR FILTER enhances viewing angle up to more than 160 degrees by eliminating double images.
Try knocking on the CLEAR FILTER screen. You will hear a solid sound that proves there is no air gap. However, with a conventional glass screen, vibrated sound comes out due to the air gap resulting in internal reflection.
