| The Instinct is a decent phone, especially for the money. Very happy with the GPS, and visual voicemail. But there are some disappointments. My husband and I each got an instinct and they are awful! They constantly freeze and say out of range and the video is awful. | |

| Touchscreen is one of trends in the mobile technology nowadays. They make the consumers feel that everything is just a touch away. I replaced my fairly recent Motorola/Nextel i880 push to talk phone with the Instinct. Is imitation the best form of flattery or do we have and original here? The Instinct hit the market to give the Iphone a run for its money. | |

| I hate this phone! hate it..its horrible and the texting is so stupid. All of the settings are too complicated, the internet is poor. Bottom line, this phone was mediocre at best as touch screen phones go. If you want a cheap touch screen to use for text, talk, and email exclusively,... its really cool its really cool its really cool It is impossible to text without shear frustration. | |

| Husband just bought me this Samsung Instinct through Sprint wireless around 3 and a half weeks ago. I have had so much fun with this thing. Measured across its front face. Samsung aficionados will also notice a resemblance to the Samsung SGH-F490, which is the GSM version of the Instinct. Of communications companies customized Sprint Samsung SPH-M800 mobile phone also said that another generation - Instinct (instinct). | |

We would like to express our thanks to the staff at the Courier ofce for the help they have provided through the year. We would like to give extra big thanks for the help you gave us with the Parenting with Condence course. You all do an absolutely wonderful job. Where would we be without you? POKURU school children celebrate as Wrightson Te Awamutu manager Te Oti Kaihe presents Emily Shaw with a $1500 voucher to be used for school musical instruments. 356043AD By Cathy Asplin Emily Shaw (10) corralled a great deal for her school in a nationwide competition run by agriservices company Wrightson. She was just one of the children at Pokuru School who took part in a word puzzle competition which was held throughout the country for three months. It was run in conjunction with Wrightson and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra as part of the Musical Muster tour of the North Island. Over 1000 children entered the competition, but it was the Pokuru School pupil who was drawn as the winner of the 9-13 year old age bracket. For her efforts Emily won $1500 worth of musical instruments for her school and was given the good news at her assembly last week. Te Awamutu store manager Te Oti Kaihe visited the assembly to present Emily with the musical instrument voucher, a Wrightson certicate and a cap. The school currently has a school music enrichment programme, with children playing recorders and guitars. The funds were gratefully received and, at this stage, a keyboard looks to be high on the list of priorities for the music voucher. Wrightson acting chief executive, Barry Brook says he is delighted the musical instruments are going to a rural school. This is Wrightsons rst year as a sponsor of the NZSO and during that time there have been tours of the North and South Island, venturing off the beaten track and into rural New Zealand. Brooke Graham of Papanui Junction School, Taihape, won $1500 for her school in the 4-8 year age bracket.

Schrieber produces swim of her life
Teenager undaunted competing against Olympians
By Colin Thorsen Pirongia swimming star Claire Schrieber is not one to let an opportunity slip by. The just turned 17-year-old swam the race of her life to place fourth in the 400m individual medley at the open short course nationals in Auckland. Having qualied ninth, she only got to swim the nal when one of the other competitors pulled out through sickness. Up against a classy eld, including two Olympians, Schrieber reached a signicant milestone going under ve minutes for the rst time. Her time of 4:59:59 was a personal best by ve seconds and less than a second outside the Waikato open record. Her fourth was the highest placing of any Waikato swimmer at the meet. The race was won by national record holder and 2000 and 2004 Olympian Helen Norfolk (22), with 2000 Olympian and long course record holder Liz van Welie (25) second. Coach Richard Sutton was ecstatic, saying Schrieber put together a really strong race. She went into the breaststroke leg sixth or seventh, rocketed up to fourth, and stayed in the top four throughout the freestyle leg, increasing her lead slightly over the fth placed swimmer in the last 50m. Last year, Schrieber picked up the 16 year girls bronze medal in her speciality 400m individual medley event at the national age group championships in Auckland. Her time at the Waitakere

Aquatic Centre was 5.14.88 She went one better claiming the 17 year girls silver medal in 5.13.30 at this years national age group championships in Wellington. Sutton has no doubts that she has the capabilities to complete the bronze, silver, gold sequence at the 2005 age group nationals in Wellington in March. Claires up against two pretty smart swimmers but if she continues to work hard anything is possible. She probably needs to go another ve seconds faster to win in Wellington.
It is certainly not beyond the realms of possibility considering she has improved her time by a whopping 13 seconds over the past eight months since winning the silver medal. Swimming takes up a huge part of young Schriebers life - it is a six days a week commitment. She trains up to 18 hours a week, swimming in excess of 6000m a day doing extended warm-ups and recovery swims. She also does land training three times a week to improve core body strength.

It took around two weeks to set up the store, but thanks to help from family and friends the new shop is looking great. By Waipa Districts Sport Co-ordinator Janis Jeffers. On behalf of Sport Waikato, I would like to wish you all a safe, happy and active Christmas and thank you all for your continued support of our work in the community. For most of us, the approach of the festive season brings with it temptations to eat, drink and be merry to excess, and more rest and relaxation than we really need. For many of us, especially if we are trying to maintain a routine of regular exercise, as much physical activity as possible and healthy, low fat eating, the season serves us a plateful of potential pitfalls. Tip 1 Forget the all or nothing approach. So what if you do overeat big time on Christmas day that doesnt mean you have to continue to overeat for the rest of the week get back on track and dont dwell on the few extra bits and pieces. So what if you dont have the time or inclination to go for the promised long, brisk walk go for a 10 minute stroll instead. In terms of exercise, a little bit is better than nothing, better still many little bits of activity spread throughout the day. Tip 2 - Plan ahead. If you are in charge of meals - ensure there are always yummy healthy choices. If doing the Kiwi thing and taking a plate make sure that your food is a healthy choice. Encourage other family members or friends to be active with you take a frisbee or bat and ball with you on picnics, walk to as many places as you can especially if there is no great hurry. Always have a pair of sneakers or walking shoes with you so you can take advantage of a few spare minutes out of your day to go for a walk. Tip 3 - Look for both vigorous and leisurely activities to participate in. Mix rest and relaxation with as much physical activity as you can. Find little excuses often to get up and move around. Try and be on your feet and moving around for

There is no prouder president of any sporting organisation in the Waikato right now than Trisha Waugh. Waugh has been in the limelight accepting awards on behalf of Waikato Kihikihi Eventing Inc at both the Waipa District Sports Awards, held in Te Awamutu, and the Waikato Regional Sports Awards at the Hamilton Gardens pavilion. Waikato Kihikihi Eventing took out club of the year and John Nicholson administrator of the year on both occasions. It has been a magic past month for crosscountry course designer Nicholson and the local equestrian fraternity in general. They are so proud of their international class facility at Kihikihi. It is nice for Nicholson and his team of helpers, who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes, to get some recognition.

Pirongia XI win thriller
Pirongia scored a one wicket victory over Otorohanga in a thrilling cricket local-derby that went down to the wire. Otorohanga looked dead and buried with only one wicket in hand, needing 38 runs off the last three overs in reply to Pirongias 213/5. James Bailey (44) was able to reduce it to six runs off the last two balls, only to be caught on the boundary - much to the delight of the Pirongia team who recorded only their second win of the season. Otorohanga struggled to get the run rate above three runs per over for much of their innings against the steady Pirongia attack. More importantly, the Mountain Men nally held onto their catches. Opening batsman Shane Carr top scored for Otorohanga with 60 runs. Pirongia bowlers to feature were Jason McGrath with 333 off nine overs and Richard Douch, 3-56 off eight overs. Pirongias innings got off to another good start, with openers Jason McGrath (89no) and Richard Parsons (37) putting on 72 in 16 overs. The second wicket partnership was well contained, being restricted to 45 runs in 14 overs, leaving only 15 overs for the middle order to try and reach a satisfactory total. The previous week saw Pirongia travel to Matamata to play the top team, Hinuera. Pirongia batted rst, setting the highest chase for Hinuera this year of 175 in 40 overs. Richard Parsons top scored with 71. Pirongia were unable to captilise fully after being well placed at 99/1 at the halfway stage of its innings, reduced by 10 overs due to the threat of rain. Hinuera comfortably reached the target in the 36th over for the loss of only three wickets. Opener R. Bell scored an unbeaten 83.

Competition co-leaders CDB Te Rahu beat Korakonui by a somewhat attering scoreline of 13-3. The match featured no fewer than six tie break sets - four of which went to Te Rahu. Kio Kio kept pace with CDB Te Rahu at the top beating Kihikihi Red 10-6. Kihikihi Blue downed Ngahinapouri 11-5. Wharepapa South had good reason to celebrate after opening their account in the Melville Cup competition with a hard-earned 8-all draw against fourth placed Otorohanga.
