Regional Code

This unit has a regional code printed on the rear of the unit. This unit can play only DVD discs labelled same as the rear of the unit or ALL. Notes on Regional Codes Most DVD discs have a globe with one or more numbers in it clearly visible on the cover. This number must match your DVD players regional code or the disc cannot play. If you try to play a DVD with a different regional code from your player, the message Check Regional Code appears on the TV screen.
Indicates tips and hints for making the task easier. A section whose title has one of the following symbols is applicable only to the disc represented by the symbol.

Antenna Connections

Connect the supplied FM/AM antenna for listening to the radio. Connect the AM Loop antenna to the AM antenna connector. Connect the FM Wire antenna to the FM antenna connector. Notes:
To prevent noise pickup, keep the AM Loop antenna away from the DVD/CD Receiver and other components. Be sure to fully extend the FM wire antenna. After connecting the FM Wire antenna, keep it as horizontal as possible.

To Remove the USB Device from the unit
1. Choose a different function mode or press the STOP (x) twice in a row. 2. Remove the USB device from the unit. Notes: Dont extract the USB device while operating. Music files (MP3/WMA), image files (JPEG) and DivX files can be played. This unit can not use a USB HUB. Recommended Memory Cards. Compact Flash Card (CFC), Micro Drive (MD), Smart Media Card (SMC), Memory Stick (MS), Secure Digital Card (SD), Multi Media Card (MMC), Memory Stick Pro (MS-Pro) - Compatable with : FAT16, FAT32 - Only use the memory cards recommended. Devices which require additional program installation when you have connected the unit to a computer are not supported. In case of a USB HDD, make sure to connect an auxiliary power cord to the USB HDD for proper operation. Up to four primary partitions of a drive are supported. If there is an extention partition, it will not be supported. If the drive of USB device is two or more, a drive folder is displayed on the screen. If you want to move to the initial menu after you select a folder, press RETURN. Digital cameras and mobile phones are not supported.
Speaker System Connection
Connect the speakers to the front (right, left) or center speaker connectors at the main set. Connect the subwoofer to the woofer connector. Connect the power cord of the Wireless RX to the outlet, then connect the Wireless RX and the rear speaker (right, left) with the speaker cable. Connect the DC IN connector of the Wireless TX and the Wireless TX (DC 7V OUT) connector at the main set with the DC power cable. Connect the SOUND SIGNAL connector of the Wireless TX and rear (right, left) speaker of connectors of the main set with the sound signal cable. Set the distance between this unit and Wireless RX within 10m.

Changing a channel of Wireless TX and Wireless RX
If there is a similar wireless product nearby, interference may occur. In this case, change to another channel using ID/CHANNEL (ID./CH.) button of Wireless TX.
Setting an ID of Wireless TX and Wireless RX
When the unit is manufactured, the ID is already set. If an interference occurs or you use a new Wireless RX, an ID is set again. 1. Set the wireless TX and wireless RX within 50cm of eachother. 2. Turn the Wireless TX and Wireless RX on. 3. Press the ID/CHNNEL (ID./CH.) button of Wireless TX and ID button of Wireless RX at the same time for more than about 3 seconds. - The wireless RX and Wireless RX of blue LED indicator will flicker. 4. Release the ID/CHNNEL (ID./CH.) button of Wireless TX and ID button of Wireless RX. - ID is set up. Notes:
If there is a product with a strong electromagnetic field nearby, interference may occur. Do not operate a portable transmitter (such as a wireless network device) near this product.

Manual setting

Press ID/CHANNEL (ID./CH.) button for less than about 3 seconds. If the wireless TX and wireless RX signals do not match after operating as above, operate it again about three times.

Auto setting

1 Disconnect the DC power cable from the Wireless TX. 2 Connect the DC power cable Wireless TX while you pressing the ID/CHANNEL (ID.CH.) button of Wiress TX. - The blue LED indicator will flicker. 3 Disconnect the DC power cable from the Wireless TX and release the ID/CHANNEL (ID.CH.) button of Wiress TX. 4 Connect the DC power cable Wireless TX. - The ID setting becomes optimization automaticly. Note:
The wireless speakers may not receive the changed channel of transmitter (The LED of Wireless TX will turn blue. The The LED of Wireless RX will turn red). In this case set the ID as next paragraph.
CAUTION Rear speaker (wireless speakers) is no sound.
The DC power cable is not connected the Wireless TX and main unit. Connect the Wireless TX and main unit with the DC power cable. Power cord of wireless RX (or wireless speakers) is not connected. Connect the Power cord of wireless RX (or wireless speakers).

Sound is cut off.

Change a channel of Wireless TX. (Follow steps Changing a channel of Wireless TX and Wireless RX)
If rear speaker (wireless speakers) is no sound after operating as above, disconnect and connect the power cord of Wireless RX (or wireless speakers) or set up an ID of wireless TX and wireless RX (or wireless speakers).

Displaying Disc Information on-screen
You can display various information about the disc loaded on-screen. 1. Press DISPLAY to show various playback information. The items displayed differ depending on the disc type or playing status. 2. You can select an item by pressing v / V and change or select the setting by pressing b / B. Title (Track) Current title (or track). number/total number of titles (or tracks). Chapter Current chapter number/total number of chapters. Time Elapsed playing time. Audio Selected audio language or channel. Subtitle Selected subtitle. Angle Selected angle/total number of angles. Sound Selected sound mode. Note: If no button is pressed for a few seconds, the onscreen display disappears.

Initial Settings

By using the Setup menu, you can make various adjustments to items such as picture and sound. You can also set a language for the subtitles and the Setup menu, among other things. For details on each Setup menu item, see pages 13 to 16. To display and exit the Menu: Press SETUP to display the menu. A second press of SETUP will take you back to initial screen. To go to the next level: Press B on the remote control. To go back to the previous level: Press b on the remote control.

GENERAL OPERATION

1. Press SETUP. The Setup menu appears. 2. Use v / V to select the desired option then press B to move to the second level. The screen shows the current setting for the selected item, as well as alternate setting(s). 3. Use v / V to select the second desired option then press B to move to the third level. 4. Use v / V to select the desired setting then press ENTER to confirm your selection. Some items require additional steps. 5. Press SETUP or PLAY to exit the Setup menu.

Select

OSD Select a language for the Setup menu and on-screen display. Disc Audio / Subtitle / Menu Select the language you prefer for the audio track (disc audio), subtitles, and the disc menu. Original Refers to the original language in which the disc was recorded. Other To select another language, press number buttons then ENTER to enter the corresponding 4digit number according to the language code list on page 26. If you enter the wrong language code, press CLEAR.

HD AV Sync

When using Digital TV. Sometimes AV signal could not be transmitted simultaneously because of later transmission of video signal compared to audio signal. Because it takes some time to convert analog video signal to digital one in the Digital TV. And It means that you may not enjoy picture on the screen and sound from speaker at the same time even though it is one scene. In the HD AV Sync menu, you could adjust delay time to audio signal for simultaneous AV signal transmission Delay time could be set up with 10msec unit. (0 ~ 300msec) Delay time is different with each TV Brand. So you need to adjust optimal delay time complying with your TV.
3. Adjust options using v / V / b / B buttons.

LOCK (Parental Control)

Area Code Enter the code of the area whose standards were used to rate the DVD video disc, based on the list on page 26. 1. Select Area Code on the LOCK menu then press B. 2. Follow step 2 as shown previous paragraph (Rating).
Rating Blocks playback of rated DVDs based on their content. Not all discs are rated. 1. Select Rating on the LOCK menu then press B. 2. To access the LOCK options, you must input the password you have created. If you have not yet entered password, you are prompted to do so. Input a password and press ENTER. Enter it again and press ENTER to verify. If you make a mistake before pressing ENTER, press CLEAR. 3. Select a rating from 1 to 8 using the v / V buttons. Rating 1-8: Rating one (1) has the most restrictions and rating eight (8) is the least restrictive. Unlock: If you select unlock, parental control is not active and the disc plays in full. 4. Press ENTER to confirm your rating selection, then press SETUP to exit the menu. Password You can enter or change password. 1. Select Password on the LOCK menu then press B. 2. Follow step 2 as shown above (Rating). To change the password, press ENTER when the Change option is highlighted. Input a password and press ENTER. Enter it again and press ENTER to verify. 3. Press SETUP to exit the menu. If you forget your password If you forget your password, you can clear it using the following steps: 1. Press SETUP to display the Setup menu. 2. Input the 6-digit number 210499 and press ENTER. The password is cleared.

3. Select the first character using v / V buttons. 4. Press B and select the second character using v / V buttons. 5. Press ENTER to confirm your Area code selection.

PBC DivX(R) Registration On Select
PBC Set Playback Control (PBC) to On or Off. On: Video CDs with PBC are played according to the PBC. Off: Video CDs with PBC are played the same way as Audio CDs. DivX(R) Registration We provide you the DivX VOD (Video On Demand) registration code that allows you to rent and purchase videos using the DivX VOD service. For more information, visit www.divx.com/vod. 1. Select DivX(R) Registration option then press B. 2. Press ENTER while Select is selected and the registration code will appear. Use the registration code to purchase or rent the videos from DivX VOD service at www.divx.com/vod. Follow the instructions and download the video onto a disc for playback on this unit. 3. Press ENTER to exit. Note: All the downloaded videos from DivX VOD can only be played back on this unit.

Operations

Opens or closes the disc tray. During playback, press X to pause playback. Press X repeatedly to play Frame-by-Frame. During playback, press SKIP (. or >) to go to the next chapter/track or to return to the beginning of the current chapter/track. Press SKIP. twice briefly to step back to the previous chapter/track.

During playback, press SCAN (m or M) repeatedly to select the required scan speed. DVD : 5 steps (X2, X4, X8, X16, X100) DivX disc, Video CD : 4 steps (X2, X4, X8, X16) WMA/MP3, Audio CD : 3 steps (X2, X4, X8) During playback, press REPEAT repeatedly to select a desired repeat mode. DVD Video discs: Chapter/Title/Off Video CD, Audio CD, DivX/MP3/WMA discs: Track/All/Off During playback, each press of A-B button to select point A and point B and repeats a sequence from point A (Starting point) to point B (End point). Press REPEAT A-B to exit. During playback or pause mode, press ZOOM to enlarge the video image (3 steps). You can move through the zoomed picture using b B v V buttons. If the current DVD title has a menu, the title menu appears on the screen. Otherwise, the disc menu may appears. The disc menu appears on the screen. During playback, press SUBTITLE repeatedly to select a desired subtitle language.

Controlling the TV

Your Remote Control is capable of operating your DVD/CD Receiver as well as limited functions of LG TV. Follow the instructions below to operate for your LG TV.
1. Before using the Remote Control, press the TV to select
the device to be operated. To switch the Remote Control mode (to operate a different device), be sure to press the TV first.
2. The POWER (TV), CHANNEL(E/D), VOLUME (+/-), and
INPUT buttons on Remote Control are used to operate the LG TV. Setting Remote Control Codes for LG TV Hold POWER (TV) and press CHANNEL(E/D) button repeatedly until the TV on or off.
If the Remote Control does not operate your particular TV, try the other code or use the Remote Control originally supplied with the LG TV. (LG and Gold Star) Due to the variety of codes used by manufacturers, OUR COMPANY cannot guarantee that the remote control will operate every model of LG TV.
Playing an Audio CD or MP3/WMA file
This unit can play Audio CDs or MP3/WMA files recorded media. MP3/ WMA/ Audio CD Once you insert an MP3/WMA files recorded media or Audio CD, a menu appears on the TV screen. Press v / V to select a track/file then press PLAY or ENTER and playback starts. You can use variable playback functions. Refer to page 17.

Programmed Playback
The program function enables you to store your favorite tracks from any disc in the receiver memory. A program can contain 300 tracks. 1. Insert a disc. Audio CD and MP3/WMA Discs: 2. MP3 / WMA disc compatibility with this player is limited as follows: Sampling frequency: within 32 - 48 kHz (MP3), within 24 - 48kHz (WMA) Bit rate: within 32 - 320kbps (MP3), 40 - 192kbps (WMA) The DVD/CD Receiver cannot read an MP3/WMA file that has a file extension other than.mp3 /.wma. CD-R physical format should be ISO 9660 If you record MP3 / WMA files using software that cannot create a file system (eg. Direct-CD) it is impossible to playback MP3 / WMA files.We recommend that you use Easy-CD Creator, which creates an ISO 9660 file system. File names should have a maximum of 8 letters and must incorporate an.mp3 or.wma extension. They should not contain special letters such as / ? * : < > l etc. The total number of files on the disc should be less than 999. This DVD/CD Receiver requires discs and recordings to meet certain technical standards in order to achieve optimal playback quality. Pre-recorded DVDs are automatically set to these standards. There are many different types of recordable disc formats (including CD-R containing MP3 or WMA files) and these require certain pre-existing conditions (see above) to ensure compatible playback. Customers should note that permission is required in order to download MP3 / WMA files and music from the Internet. Our company has no right to grant such permission. Permission should always be sought from the copyright owner.

3. Select the track you want to start playing on the Program list. Press MENU to move to the next page. 4. Press PLAY or ENTER to start. Playback begins in the order in which you programmed the tracks. Playback stops after all of the tracks on the Program list have played once. 5. To resume normal playback from programmed playback, select a track of AUDIO CD (or MP3/WMA) list and then press PLAY. Repeat Programmed Tracks 1. Press REPEAT when playing a disc. The repeat icon appears. 2. Press REPEAT to select a desired repeat mode. TRACK: repeats the current track ALL: repeats all the tracks on programmed list. Off(No display): does not play repeatedly. Erasing a Track from Program List 1. Use v V to select the track that you wish to erase from the Program list. 2. Press CLEAR. Alternatively, select (Delete) icon then press ENTER to place the selected track on the Program list. Repeat to erase additional tracks on the list. Viewing a JPEG file
This unit can play discs with JPEG files. Before playing JPEG recordings, read the notes on JPEG Recordings on right. 1. Insert a disc and close the tray. The PHOTO menu appears on the TV screen.

JPEG disc compatibility with this player is limited as follows: Depending upon the size and number of JPEG files, it could take a long time for the DVD/CD Receiver to read the discs contents. If you dont see an on-screen display after several minutes, some of the files may be too large reduce the resolution of the JPEG files to less than 2M pixels as 2760 x 2048 pixels and burn another disc. The total number of files and folders on the disc should be less than 999. Some discs may be incompatible due to a different recording format or the condition of disc. Ensure that all the selected files have the.jpg extensions when copying into the CD layout. If the files have.jpe or.jpeg extensions, please rename them as.jpg file. File names without.jpg extension will not be able to be read by this DVD/CD Receiver. Even though the files are shown as JPEG image files in Windows Explorer.

2. Press v / V to select a folder, and press ENTER. A list of files in the folder appears. If you are in a file list and want to return to the previous Folder list, use the v / V buttons on the remote to highlight and press ENTER. 3. If you want to view a particular file, press v / V to highlight a file and press ENTER or PLAY. While viewing a file, you can press STOP to move to the previous menu (JPEG menu). Note:
When viewing a JPEG file, the resolution is changed 480p if the resolution set to 1080i. You can change the resolution for 720p or 480p.
There are four Slide Speed options : > (Slow), >> (Normal), >>> (Fast) and II (off). Use v /V /b /B to highlight the Speed. Then, use b / B to select the option you want to use then press ENTER. If you set Speed option to Off, Slide is not active.
Slide Show Use v V b B to highlight the (Slide Show) then press ENTER.(You can not change resolution) Still Picture 1. Press PAUSE/STEP during slide show. The DVD/CD Receiver will now go into PAUSE mode. 2. To return to the slide show, press PLAY or press PAUSE/STEP again. Moving to another File Press SKIP (. or >) once while viewing a picture to advance to the next or previous file. To rotate picture Press b / B during showing a picture to rotate the picture clockwise or counter-clockwise.
Playing a DivX Movie file
Using this DVD/CD Receiver you can play DivX disc. 1. Insert a disc and close the tray. The MOVIE menu appears on the TV screen.

DivX disc compatibility with this player is limited as follows: Available resolution size of the DivX file is under 800x600 (W x H) pixel. The file name of the DivX subtitle is available by 45 characters. If there is impossible code to express in the DivX file, it may be displayed as " _ " mark on the display. If the number of the screen frame is over 30 per 1 second, this unit may not operate normally. If the video and audio structure of recorded file is not interleaved, either video or audio is outputted.
2. Press v / V to select a folder, and press ENTER. A list of files in the folder appears. If you are in a file list and want to return to the Folder list, use the v / V buttons on the remote to highlight and press ENTER. 3. If you want to view a particular file, press v / V to highlight a file and press ENTER or PLAY. 4. Press STOP to exit.

Moving to another GROUP Some DVD Audio discs divide content into different groups. Your player enables you to quickly access different groups during playback via the on-screen display. 1. Press DISPLAY during playback on in stop mode. 4 2. Press 3/4 to select Group icon. 3. Press 1/2 or the numbered buttons (0-9) to select a group number. Note: Sometimes the author of the disc creates hidden content that can only be accessed by entering a password. If the lock icon appears on the TV screen, enter the password (sometimes youll find it on the discs jacket cover or on a web site). This password control isnt dictated by your DVD/CD Receiver it is a function of the disc. Since the authoring of DVD Audio Discs varies, some of the on-screen display choices might not be available for the disc youre playing.
Viewing another PAGE Since DVD Audio discs can hold a lot of content, there are various ways to see whats available on the disc. 1. Press DISPLAY during playback. 4 2. Press 3/4 to select Page icon. 3. Press 1/2 to select a page number. What appears on the screen will vary from disc to disc because the information available depends upon the way the disc was created. Note: Since the authoring of DVD Audio Discs varies, some of the on-screen display choices might not be available for the disc youre playing.
Presetting the Radio Stations
You can preset 50 stations for FM and AM (MW). Before tuning, make sure that you have turned down the volume. 1. Press BAND on the Remote Control until FM or AM (MW) appears in the display window. 2. And then every time you press BAND, FM and AM (MW) changes alternately. 3. Press and hold TUN.(-/+) for about two seconds until the frequency indication starts to change, then release.
Scanning stops when the DVD/CD Receiver tunes in a station.

Listening to the Radio

Preset radio stations in the DVD/CD Receivers memory first (see Presetting radio stations on the left). 1. Press BAND until FM or AM (MW) appears in the display window.
The last received station is tuned in.
2. Press PRESET +/- repeatedly on the Remote Control to select the preset station you want.
Each time you press the button, the DVD/CD Receiver tunes in one preset station at a time.
3. Adjust the volume by rotating VOLUME on the front panel or by pressing VOLUME + or - on the Remote Control repeatedly.
4. Press PROG/MEMO on the Remote Control.
A preset number will flash in the display window.

To turn off the radio

Press POWER to turn the DVD/CD Receiver off or select another function mode (DVD/CD, AUX, USB).

The TV is not set to receive DVD signal output.
The video cable is not connected securely. The connected TV power is turned off. There is no sound or only a very low-level sound is heard. The equipment connected with the audio cable is not set to receive DVD signal output. The audio cables are not connected securely. The power of the equipment connected with the audio cable is turned off. The audio connecting cable is damaged. The playback picture is poor. The disc is dirty.
The DVD/CD Receiver No disc is inserted. does not start playback. An unplayable disc is inserted.

Preset the stations (page 23).
Point the remote control at the remote sensor of the DVD/CD Receiver. Use the remote control within about 23 ft (7 m). Remove the obstacle.
Replace the batteries with new ones. Press DIMMER on the remote control.
