A few queries have been voiced with reference the installation of LG units in low ambient conditions. Please see below details of the operating conditions for all our systems WITHOUT additional low ambient kits installed.

NON INVERTER- RAC

INVERTER- RAC

How can you tell easily if a unit operates in low ambient conditions? Easy look at the wiring diagram Inverter driven fan motor These fan motors are used on Inverter RAC units. These motors actually have an inverter (PWM) module inside the fan motor body. The wiring diagram looks like this, note 5 wires, red = +320Vdc Black = Ground, White is for speed signal in, blue and yellow are for the rpm counter signal. This motor is fully speed controlled and will allow the unit to operate in ambients down to -10C.
Multi tapping fan motors These motors have many speeds (this one has low and high) and allow less sophisticated head pressure control; they are used on universal units hence the operation limits down to -5C
Fixed single speed fan motor looks like this
or this Note the capacitor and the relay; there are no electronic controls for this motor it only has 1 speed. This will need a fan speed controller if it is to work in ambients below 21C. They are used on RAC non inverter units only.
