Meter OneTouch UltraSoft Adjustable Blood Sampler Battery
Display Messages and Problem-Solving Guide Specifications Guarantee Index

Page vi

The OneTouch Ultra System uses the latest blood glucose monitoring technology. It measures the glucose content of a blood sample by means of an electrical current produced in the test strip and measured by the meter. Test results are plasma-calibrated. This makes it easier for you and your diabetes-care team to compare your meter results with laboratory tests. If you have been using another type of meterone that provides whole-blood resultsyou may notice that your test results with the OneTouch Ultra System are about 12 % higher.

Page 1

The OneTouch Ultra Blood Glucose Monitoring System consists of the OneTouch Ultra Blood Glucose Meter, OneTouch Ultra Test Strips (may be sold separately), and OneTouch Ultra Control Solution. These products have been designed, tested, and proven to work together to produce accurate blood glucose results. Use no other test strips or control solution other than OneTouch Ultra brand with your meter.
CAUTION: If you cannot test due to a problem with your testing supplies, contact your healthcare professional or LifeScan Customer Service at 227-8862. Failure to test could delay treatment decisions and lead to a serious medical condition.
The OneTouch Ultra System is intended for use outside the body (in vitro diagnostic use). It should be used only for testing fresh capillary whole blood samples for glucose (sugar). It should not be used for the diagnosis of diabetes or for testing newborns.
Before using any product to test your blood glucose, read all instructions and practice the test. Do all quality control checks as directed and consult with a diabetes healthcare professional. These recommendations apply to all blood glucose monitoring systems and are supported by the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the American Diabetes Association, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the Advanced Medical Technology Association.

CAUTION:

Important Information
Dehydration: Severe dehydration resulting from excessive water loss may cause false low results. If you believe you are suffering from severe dehydration, consult a healthcare professional immediately. Low glucose results: If your test result is lower than 70 mg/dL or is shown as LO, it may mean hypoglycemia (low blood glucose). This may require immediate treatment according to your healthcare professional's recommendations. Although this result could be due to a test error, it is safer to treat first, and then repeat the test. High glucose results: If your test result is greater than 180 mg/dL or is shown as HI, it may mean hyperglycemia (high blood glucose). If you do not have symptoms, first repeat the test. Your healthcare professional can work with you to decide what actions, if any, you should take if you continue to get results higher than 180 mg/dL or if you have symptoms. Repeated unexpected results: If you continue to get unexpected results, check your system with control solution. See Checking the System with Control Solution on pages 1319. If you are experiencing symptoms that are not consistent with your blood glucose results and you have followed all instructions in this booklet, call your healthcare professional. Never ignore symptoms or make significant changes to your diabetes control program without speaking to your healthcare professional. Hematocrit: A hematocrit (percentage of your blood that is red blood cells) that is either very high (above 55%) or very low (below 30%) can cause false results. WARNING: Keep the meter and testing supplies away from small children. The battery door, test strips, lancets, protective disks, and control solution cap are choking hazards.

Important Test Strip Information
Store test strip vials in a cool, dry place below 86F (30C). Keep away from direct sunlight and heat. Do Not refrigerate. Store test strips in their original vial only. To avoid damage or contamination, Do Not transfer test strips to any other place. After removing a test strip from the vial, replace the vial cap immediately and close it tightly. Use each test strip immediately after removing it from the vial. Do Not use test strips from any vial that is damaged or left open to air. Write the discard date (3 months after first opening the vial) on the vial label when you first open it. Discard remaining OneTouch Ultra Test Strips after the discard date. Do Not use test strips beyond the expiration (printed on package) or discard date, whichever comes first, because they may cause inaccurate results. Avoid getting dirt, food or liquids on the test strip. With clean, dry hands, you may touch the test strip anywhere on its surface. Do Not bend, cut, or alter a OneTouch Ultra Test Strip in any way. OneTouch Ultra Test Strips are for single use only. Never reuse a test strip that has had either blood or control solution applied to it. Apply only OneTouch Ultra Control Solution or a blood sample to the test strip. Refer to additional information in the OneTouch Ultra Test Strip package.
WARNING: Do Not swallow test strips. The test strip vial may contain drying agents that are harmful if inhaled or swallowed and may cause skin or eye irritation.

Page 10

Checking the Meter Display
Each time you turn on the OneTouch Ultra Meter either by inserting a test strip or pressing the button, all segments of the display will appear briefly. This tells you that the system is performing several self-checks to confirm that the meter is working properly. To check that all display segments are working, with the meter off, press the button and immediately hold the button down.

Coding the Meter

Code numbers are used to calibrate the OneTouch Ultra Meter with OneTouch Ultra Test Strips for accurate results. You must code the meter before using it for the first time and then every time you change to another vial of test strips. Each time you test, check to be sure that the code number on the meter display matches the code number on the test strip vial.
CAUTION: Matching the code on the meter and the code on the test strip vial is essential to obtain accurate results. Each time you test, check to make sure the code numbers match.

Note: Refer to additional information in the OneTouch Ultra Control Solution Package.

Page 14

Before you begin:
Use only OneTouch Ultra Control Solution. Check the expiration date on the control solution vial. Record the discard date (date opened plus three months) on the vial label. Do Not use after expiration or discard date, whichever comes first. Control solution, meter, and test strips should be at room temperature (6877F/2025C) before testing with control solution (see Specifications section on page 60 for blood testing temperature ranges). Shake the vial, discard the first drop of control solution, and wipe off the tip to ensure a good sample and an accurate result. Store control solution tightly closed at temperatures below 86F (30C). Do Not refrigerate. WARNING:
Do Not swallow control solution; it is not for human

consumption.

Do Not apply control solution to the skin or eyes as it may

cause irritation.

CAUTION: To reduce the chance of infection: Never share a lancet or the Sampler with anyone. Always use a new, sterile lancet. Lancets are for single use only. Keep the OneTouch Ultra Meter and Sampler clean. Make sure to wash the puncture site with soap and water before testing.

Page 22

Insert a Lancet. Turn the OneTouch UltraSoft Cap counterclockwise to remove it.
Insert the lancet into the lancet holder and push down firmly until it is fully seated. Do Not twist the lancet. Twist the protective disk until it separates from the lancet. Replace the OneTouch UltraSoft Cap. Turn it clockwise until it is snug.

Adjust the puncture depth setting if necessary. Twist the depth adjustment knob toward the smaller bumps for a shallower puncture or toward the larger bumps for a deeper puncture.

Page 23

Cock the Sampler. Slide the ejection/cocking control back until it clicks. If it does not click, the Sampler may have been cocked when the lancet was inserted. The Sampler is now ready for use.
Wash Your Hands and the Puncture Site. To reduce the chance of infection, use warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

Page 24

Fingertip Blood Sampling
The OneTouch Ultra System requires a very small blood drop to perform a test. You may obtain it from a fingertip or forearm. (See page 25 for information on obtaining a blood sample from the forearm.) Choose a different puncture site each time you test. Repeated punctures in the same spot may cause soreness and calluses.
Position the Sampler. Hold the Sampler firmly against the side of your finger. Press the release button.
Note: Do Not use OneTouch UltraClear Cap on your finger.
Massage the Fingertip. Massaging the fingertip gently will help you obtain a round drop of blood. Do Not squeeze excessively on the puncture site. The blood sample must be at least one microliter (1 L) in volume ( actual size) or you may get an message (see page 57) or an inaccurate test result. Do Not smear the blood sample. Proceed with your blood glucose test. 24

Page 25

Forearm Blood Sampling
The forearm has fewer nerve endings than the fingertip so you may find that obtaining a blood sample from the forearm may be much less painful than using the fingertip. The technique for forearm sampling is different from fingertip sampling. Also there are differences between forearm samples and fingertip samples that you should understand. Please read the important information on page 27 carefully.
Install the OneTouch UltraClear Cap. To aid in obtaining a blood sample from the forearm, replace the OneTouch UltraSoft Cap on the Sampler with the OneTouch UltraClear Cap. If necessary, set the Sampler for a deeper puncture.
Choose the Puncture Site. Select a soft, fleshy area on your forearm that is clean and dry, away from bone, and free of visible veins and hair. 25

Page 26

Massage the Area. To increase blood flow to the puncture site, massage the area gently. For individuals who experience difficulty in getting sufficient blood for a test, rubbing the area more vigorously or applying heat briefly may be helpful.
Position the Sampler. Press and hold the Sampler against the forearm for a few seconds. Press the release button.

STEP 5

Allow Blood Drop to Form. Continue holding the Sampler against the skin for a few seconds until the blood drop forms. Allow enough blood to form under the OneTouch UltraClear Cap until you have a blood sample ( actual size) that is sufficient to fill the confirmation window of the test strip. If you must massage the area to obtain more blood, Do Not squeeze the site excessively.

Page 27

If bruising occurs, you may choose to lance a fingertip instead. If you are having difficulty obtaining blood from the forearm, call LifeScan Customer Service at 227-8862.
Important information about forearm testing
Under certain conditions, blood glucose test results obtained using samples taken from your forearm may differ significantly from fingertip samples. The conditions in which these differences are more likely to occur are when your blood glucose is changing rapidly such as following a meal, an insulin dose, or physical exercise. When blood glucose is changing rapidly, fingertip samples show these changes more quickly than forearm samples. When your blood glucose is falling, testing with a fingertip sample may identify a hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) level sooner than a test with a forearm sample. Use forearm samples only for testing prior to, or more than two hours after meals, insulin doses, or physical exercise. Testing performed within two hours after meals, insulin doses, or physical exercise, or whenever you feel that your glucose levels may be changing rapidly, should be done with a fingertip sample. You should also use fingertip testing whenever you have a concern about hypoglycemia (insulin reactions) such as when driving a car, particularly if you suffer from hypoglycemic unawareness (lack of symptoms to indicate an insulin reaction), as forearm testing may fail to detect hypoglycemia. What you should do: Use forearm or fingertip samples for testing prior to, or more than two hours after meals, insulin doses, or physical exercise. Routine testing before meals can be done either at the fingertip or the forearm. Consult your healthcare professional before you begin using the forearm for testing.

Step-by-Step Test Procedure
Insert Test Strip. Insert a test strip, contact bars end first and facing up, into the test port. Push it in until it will go no further. The meter will turn on and the display check will appear briefly. Then the code number will appear, followed by the symbol with mg/dL. Check to make sure the code number on the meter display matches the code number on the test strip vial. Always confirm that the unit of measure is mg/dL when you test your blood glucose level. WARNING: If mg/dL does not appear with the symbol, call LifeScan Customer Service at 227Insert This End 8862. Use of the wrong unit of measure may cause you to misinterpret your blood glucose level, and may lead to incorrect treatment. Be sure the meter and test strip codes match. If they do not, code the meter correctly. (See pages 1012.) CAUTION: Matching the code on the meter and the code on the test strip vial is essential to obtain accurate results. Each time you test, check to make sure the code numbers match. 28

Page 29

Apply Sample. Obtain a round drop of blood using the Sampler. The blood sample must be at least 1 L in volume ( actual size) to fill the confirmation window.
When the symbol appears on the display, touch and hold the drop of blood to the narrow channel in the top edge of the test strip.
Do Not apply sample to the front or back of the test strip. Do Not push your finger against the test strip. Do Not apply a smeared sample.

Page 30

Hold the blood drop to the top edge of the test strip until the confirmation window is full before the meter begins to count down. If the confirmation window does not fill completely before the meter begins to count down, Do Not add more blood to the test strip; discard the test strip and retest. If you have trouble filling the test strip, call LifeScan Customer Service at 227-8862 for assistance. If the confirmation window is not full, you may get an message (see page 57) or an inaccurate test result.

Note: If you do not apply a blood sample within two minutes after the symbol appears, the meter will turn itself off. You must remove the test strip and insert it back into the meter to restart the test procedure.

Page 31

Accurate Results in Just 5 Seconds. Your blood glucose test result will appear after the meter counts down from 5 to 1. Blood glucose test results are automatically stored in the meter memory. You may also record them in the logbook provided with your system. Turn the meter off by removing the test strip. Dispose of used test strip in a sealed container.

Plasma-Calibrated Result

WARNING: If mg/dL does not appear with the test result, call LifeScan Customer Service at 227-8862. CAUTION: If you tested at the low end of the operating range (43F/ 6C) and your glucose is high (over 180 mg/dL), the reading on your meter may be lower than your actual glucose. In this situation, repeat the test in a warmer environment with a new test strip as soon as possible.
Discarding used test strips and lancets

It is important to discard the used lancet carefully after each use to avoid unintended lancet stick injuries. Used test strips and lancets may be considered biohazardous waste in your area. Be sure to follow your local regulations for proper disposal.

Page 32

Remove the OneTouch UltraSoft Cap from the Sampler. Twist the OneTouch UltraSoft Cap counterclockwise. (Optional: Replace the protective disk on the used lancet by placing it on a hard surface and pushing the lancet tip into the disk.)
Eject the Lancet. Point the Sampler down and away. Push the release button to ensure that the Sampler is not cocked. Push forward on the ejection/cocking control and eject the lancet directly into a container for sharp objects. Return the ejection/cocking control to the middle position. Replace the OneTouch UltraSoft Cap.

Starting the test process
Have these things ready when you test your blood glucose level: OneTouch UltraMini Meter OneTouch Ultra Test Strips Lancing device Sterile lancets with protective disks OneTouch Ultra Control Solution
CAUTION: If you cannot test due to a problem with your testing supplies, contact your healthcare professional or LifeScan Customer Service at 227-8862. Failure to test could delay treatment decisions and lead to a serious medical condition.
NOTE: Use only OneTouch Ultra Test Strips with your OneTouch UltraMini Meter. Make sure your meter and test strips are about the same temperature before you test. Testing must be done within the operating temperature range (43111F). For the most accurate results, try to test as close to room temperature (6877F) as you can. You can perform a blood glucose test while your OneTouch UltraMini Meter is inside its case.

NOTE: If you do not have a OneTouch Lancing Device, please refer to the instructions that came with your lancing device.
CAUTION: To reduce the chance of infection:
Make sure to wash the puncture site with soap and water before sampling. Never share a lancet or a lancing device with anyone. Always use a new, sterile lancetlancets are for single use only. Keep your meter and lancing device clean. See page 34.

Page 11

Choosing the right sampling site at the right time The OneTouch UltraMini Meter allows you to sample blood from your fingertip, forearm or palm. Forearm and palm sampling is also referred to as alternate site testing (AST). At times, results obtained at the forearm or palm may be different from a fingertip measurement. Talk to your healthcare professional before you begin using your forearm or palm for sampling.
If you are testing: Use blood sample from your:

Getting a blood sample

Routinely before meals Prior to or more than two hours after: a meal a rapid-acting insulin injection or insulin pump bolus exercise When your blood glucose is changing rapidly, such as: within two hours after a meal within two hours after a rapid-acting insulin injection or insulin pump bolus, or during or within two hours after exercise When you are concerned about the possibility of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
Fingertip, forearm, or palm

Fingertip

Page 12
CAUTION: Do not test on your forearm or palm when:
You think your blood glucose is rapidly falling, such as within two hours of exercise or a rapid-acting insulin injection or insulin pump bolus. Testing with a fingertip sample may identify hypoglycemia or an insulin reaction sooner than testing with a forearm or palm sample. It has been less than two hours after a meal, a rapid-acting insulin injection or insulin pump bolus, physical exercise, or you think your glucose level is changing rapidly. You are concerned about the possibility of hypoglycemia or an insulin reaction, such as when driving a car. This is especially important if you suffer from hypoglycemia unawareness (lack of symptoms to indicate an insulin reaction).

Lancing and sampling from an alternate site Sampling from your palm or forearm allows you to use your fingertips less often. You may find that obtaining a blood sample from an alternate site is less painful than using a fingertip. Getting a blood sample from your forearm or palm is different than getting a sample from your fingertips.

Page 17

Forearm sampling Choose a fleshy area of the forearm away from bone, visible veins and hair. Sometimes there is less blood flow to the forearm than to the fingertips. To help you get a large enough drop of blood, you may gently massage or apply warmth to the site to increase blood flow.

Forearm

Palm sampling Choose a fleshy area on the palm below your thumb or little pinky finger. Select a spot with no visible veins and away from deep lines, which may cause your blood sample to smear.

Page 18

Blue cap for fingertip sampling only
The OneTouch AST Clear Cap is used for forearm and palm sampling only. Replace the blue cap with the OneTouch AST Clear Cap.

Page 19

Install the OneTouch AST Clear Cap on the OneTouch Lancing Device by snapping it on
Adjust the depth setting You may have to adjust the OneTouch Lancing Device to a deeper setting to get a large enough drop of blood from your forearm or palm. Twist the OneTouch AST Clear Cap toward the larger numbers to increase the depth.

Page 20

Puncture your forearm or palm Firmly press and hold the lancing device against your forearm or palm for a few seconds. Wait until the skin surface under the OneTouch AST Clear Cap changes color (as blood collects beneath the skin). This tells you there is enough blood flow for a good sample. Then press the release button while continuing to apply pressure. Keep holding the lancing device against your skin until a round drop of blood forms under the cap. When sampling blood from your forearm or palm, make sure the drop of blood is of at least one microliter ( actual size) before you release pressure and remove the lancing device.
Remove the OneTouch Lancing Device Carefully lift the lancing device away from your skin. Do not smear the blood sample.

Page 21

NOTE: You may need to wait a little longer to get a large enough drop of blood from the forearm or palm. Do not squeeze the site excessively. If the sample drop of blood runs or spreads due to contact with hair or with a line in your palm, do not use that sample. Try puncturing again in a smoother area. Remember: You may have to adjust the lancing device to a deeper setting to get a large enough drop of blood ( actual size).

Page 22

Applying blood and reading results
Once you have a blood sample and your meter shows the screen with the flashing blood drop icon R, you are ready to obtain a blood glucose result. If your meter does not show the screen with the flashing blood drop icon R, remove the unused test strip and re-start the test process. See page 7.

Page 25

CAUTION: High glucose results
If your test result is higher than 180 mg/dL, it may mean hyperglycemia (high blood glucose). If you are uncertain about this test result, consider re-testing. Your healthcare professional can work with you to determine what actions, if any, you should take if your results are higher than 180 mg/dL. If your meter displays HI, you may have a very high blood glucose level (severe hyperglycemia) exceeding 600 mg/dL. Re-check your glucose level. If the result is HI again, this may indicate a severe problem with your blood glucose control and it is important you obtain and follow instructions from your healthcare professional without delay.
CAUTION: Repeated unexpected glucose results
If you continue to get unexpected results, check your system with control solution. See Control solution testing, pages 2832. If you are experiencing symptoms that are not consistent with your blood glucose results and you have followed all instructions in this booklet, call your healthcare professional. Never ignore symptoms or make significant changes to your diabetes control program without speaking to your healthcare professional.
CAUTION: Unusual red blood cell count
A hematocrit (percentage of your blood that is red blood cells) that is either very high (above 55%) or very low (below 30%) can cause false results.

Page 26

After getting a result
Once you have read your result, you may: Review your meter memory by pressing to enter memory mode, see page 27, or Turn the meter off by removing the test strip. Removing the used lancet Remove the lancing device cap by snapping it off. Cover the exposed lancet tip before removing the lancet. Place the lancet protective disk on a hard surface. Push the lancet tip into the disk. Remove the lancet and place it in a container for sharp objects. Replace the cap. Disposing of the used lancet and test strip It is important to discard the used lancet carefully after each use to avoid unintended lancet stick injuries. Used test strips and lancets may be considered biohazardous waste in your area. Be sure to follow your local regulations for proper disposal.

Page 27

Reviewing past results
The meter stores a maximum of 50 blood glucose test results. When the meter memory is full, the oldest result is dropped as the newest is added. Results are stored automatically when you test, along with the time, date and unit of measure. You can review the results stored in the meter memory, starting with the most recent. If your meter is off, press and release to turn it on. After the start-up test screen, your most recent test result will appear on the display. M also appears to indicate memory mode. If you have just completed a test, leave the test strip in the meter and press to enter the memory mode. Your most recent blood glucose test result appears along with M. Press to move to the previous result stored in the meter. Then, press or to move forward or backward through all of your results. When youre finished reviewing past results, press and hold for two seconds until the meter turns off. NOTE: If no results are currently stored in the meter, will appear on the display.

Page 28

Control solution testing
OneTouch Ultra Control Solution contains a known amount of glucose and is used to check that the meter and the test strips are working properly. Do a control solution test: to practice the test process instead of using blood, once a week, whenever you open a new vial of test strips, if you suspect the meter or test strips are not working properly, if you have had repeated unexpected blood glucose results (as described on page 25), or if you drop or damage the meter.
NOTE: Use only OneTouch Ultra Control Solution with your OneTouch UltraMini Meter. Control solution tests must be done at room temperature (6877F). Make sure your meter, test strips, and control solution are at room temperature before testing.

Page 29

CAUTION: Do not swallow control solution; it is not for human consumption.
Do not apply control solution to the skin or eyes as it may cause irritation.
Performing a control solution test Start with the meter off. If you have turned the meter on to change settings or review past results, turn it off.
Check the code on the test strip vial before inserting the strip
Insert a test strip to turn on the meter Make sure the three contact bars are facing you. Push the strip in as far as it will go. Do not bend the strip.

Page 30

Match the code on the meter with the code on the test strip vial If the code on the meter does not match the code on the test strip vial, press or to match the code number on the test strip vial. The new code number will flash on the display for three seconds, and then stay constant for three seconds. The display will advance to the screen with the flashing blood drop icon R. If the codes already match, wait three seconds. The display will advance to the screen with the flashing blood drop icon R.
Mark the test as a control solution test IMPORTANT:
Mark all control solution tests with CtL. This will stop them from being stored as blood glucose results. Control solution results marked with CtL are not stored in the meters memory.
Press so that the control solution test symbol CtL appears in the upper right corner of the display. You must mark the test before you apply control solution. Once you have completed the test, you cannot change the marking. The meter is now ready to perform a control 30 solution test.

Page 31

If you decide not to do a control solution test, press again to remove CtL from the display.

Prepare and apply control solution Shake the control solution vial before each test. Remove the cap and squeeze the vial to discard the first drop. Then wipe the tip with a clean tissue or cloth. Hold the vial upside down and gently squeeze a hanging drop. Touch and hold the hanging drop of control solution to the narrow channel in the top edge of the test strip. Make sure the confirmation window fills completely. Control solution should not be applied to the flat face of the test strip.
Top edge Narrow channel Apply drop here
Read your result When the meter detects control solution in the test strip, it begins to count down from 5 to 1. Your result will then appear on the display, along with CtL and the unit of measure.

Page 32

Check if the result is in range Compare the result displayed on the meter to the control solution range printed on the test strip vial. Each vial of test strips may have a different control solution range. If the results you get are not within this range, the meter and strips may not be working properly. Repeat the control solution test. Out-of-range results may be due to: not following the instructions detailed on pages 2931, expired or contaminated control solution, expired or damaged test strip, use of a test strip or control solution past its discard date, or a problem with the meter.

100-135 mg/dL (Example)

CAUTION: The control solution range printed on the test strip vial is for OneTouch
Ultra Control Solution only. It is not a recommended range for your blood glucose level.
CAUTION: If you continue to get control solution results that fall outside the range printed on the test strip vial, do not use the meter, the test strips, or the control solution. Call LifeScan Customer Service at 227-8862. 32

Detailed information about your system
Comparing meter and laboratory results Test results with the OneTouch UltraMini Meter are plasma-calibrated. This helps you and your healthcare professional to compare your meter results with laboratory tests. If you have been using another type of meterone that provides whole-blood-calibrated resultsyou may notice that your test results with the OneTouch UltraMini Meter are approximately 12% higher. OneTouch UltraMini Meter test results and laboratory test results both are expressed in plasma-equivalent units. However, your meter result may differ from your laboratory result due to normal variation. Meter results can be affected by factors and conditions that do not affect laboratory results in the same way. Your OneTouch UltraMini Meter glucose value is considered accurate when it is within 20% of the laboratory measurement. There are some specific situations that could cause a difference of more than 20%: You have eaten recently. The blood glucose level from a finger stick can be up to 70 mg/dL higher than blood drawn from a vein (venous sample) used for a lab test.1

Your hematocrit (percentage of blood that is red blood cells) is high (above 55%) or low (below 30%). You are suffering from severe dehydration. You tested at a temperature near the low end of the operating range (43F) and you get a high glucose result (i.e., greater than 180 mg/dL). In this situation, repeat the test in a warmer environment with a new test strip as soon as possible.
For accuracy and precision data and for important information on limitations, see the insert that comes with your test strips. To maximize your chances of an accurate comparison between meter and laboratory results, follow a few basic guidelines: Before going to the lab Perform a control solution test to make sure the meter is working properly. Do not eat for at least eight hours before you test your blood. Take your meter with you to the lab. While at the lab Conduct your meter test within 15 minutes of the lab test. Use only fresh, capillary blood obtained from the fingertip. Follow all instructions in this owners booklet for performing a blood glucose test with your meter.
