Excellent reproduction
For the V-Lux 1 virtually nothing is too far or too close for a sharply focused precise picture. Even at night or with poor visibility without a tripod.
LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT 7.4 - 88.8 mm f/2.8 - 3.7 ASPH. The lens used in the LEICA V-LUX 1 complies with the strict standards of Leica Camera AG for development and manufacture. Its lens system consists of 14 lens elements in 10 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses and an ED (extra-low dispersion) lens. The ED lens is manufactured from special optical glass to compensate for chromatic aberration. It prevents color fringing and loss of focus, resulting in clear sharp images. Leica stands for superb picture quality, and this lens system delivers truly breathtaking images with minimal distortion. The aspherical lenses further enhance the outstanding performance of the lens and are also a key factor for the remarkably compact dimensions of the camera.
Integral flash The LEICA V-LUX 1 is equipped with a built-in multifunctional flash which offers functions such as Auto, Auto/SlowSync or red-eye reduction. Manual adjustment of the flash power is possible in a range of 2 aperture stops. If wished, external TTL flash units can be used on the flash shoe of the LEICA V-LUX 1. The user enjoys a high level of mobility and flexibility without having to make compromises in terms of quality or performance. Thanks to the successful combination of practicality and picture quality the V-Lux 1 is a camera which represents a real alternative to digital SLR cameras, offering major benefits regarding mobility and price. For all its compact handy dimensions the LEICA V-LUX 1 fits into your hand perfectly and is characterized by intuitive, fast and reliable handling due to the traditional operating concept. The focusing and zoom ring on the lens simplifies handling, allowing you to concentrate fully on the scene.
Swiveling display The 2.0 inch LCD with its high resolution of 207,000 pixels can swivel through 180 both horizontally and vertically. This makes photography easier even with a worms or birds eye view. The LEICA V-LUX 1 is also equipped with a highresolution electronic viewfinder (235,000 pixels). The advantage this electronic viewfinder has over the optical viewfinder is that key functions such as white balance, depth of field and even a real-time histogram appear directly in the field of vision before taking the picture. Particularly with bright ambient light it is easy to see the image on the LCD without impairment.

Always ready for action

High-speed image processing With its high-performance image signal processor the LEICA V-LUX 1 offers a very short shutter delay of just 9 milliseconds prefocused and 0.8 seconds between 2 pictures. In combination with the short switchon delay of some 0.7 seconds the V-Lux 1 provides for truly spontaneous shots. You will never miss the right moment again.
Ideal for nature observation With its magnification in the super-telephoto range the LEICA V-LUX 1 corresponds to the 10 x magnification of binoculars, making it an ideal addition for nature observation. The binoculars offer a maximum level of detail and great comfort when observing nature for long periods while the V-Lux 1 delivers high-quality shots in the same range of magnification. Here the integrated image stabilization system is a major advantage.
MEGA O.I.S. image stabilization The LEICA V-LUX 1 is equipped with an integrated optical image stabilization system, which enhances the outstanding lens performance even further. It compensates for blur from shake, caused by the natural movement of the hand. Even very minor movements of the hand are detected with a scanning frequency of 4000 hertz. This means that the V-Lux 1 can also deliver razor-sharp images without a tripod in many situations.
Noise reduction The LEICA V-LUX 1 is equipped with a new integrated image processor so that pictures can be taken with a film speed of max. ISO 1600 with full resolution. The noise reduction system combats picture noise in several processing stages. In the first stage the critical noise is identified and separated into chrominance and luminance noise. The remaining noise is then minimized in a noise reduction process. Chromatic aberration is also reduced, producing brilliant results right into the corners of pictures.

Spare battery Taking pictures uses up energy. Albeit very slowly and economically. To be on the safe side it is a good idea always having a spare lithium-ion battery if you are planning a long night or there is no end to your perfect day.
