Getting Started
Please keep this manual for future reference, as it contains important information. Before inserting the software cartridge, turn power off by pressing the On/Off button on the top of Kaseys foot. Insert the software cartridge into the software port and Kasey automatically turns back on!

What do you want to do?
Choose an activity from the Main Menu: Fish for Consonants, Spin the Vowel, Blend up Phonics and Rhyme Around. Press a colored selection button to make your choice. Note: Each activity has a teach mode and a quiz mode. Sometimes, Kasey may skip teach mode and go right to quiz mode. Fish for Consonants Press the red selection button. Learn about different consonant sounds. Spin the Vowel Press the blue selection button. Learn about different vowel sounds and how theyre used in words.
Blend up Phonics Press the yellow selection button. Learn about phonic blends an important part of reading!
Rhyme Around Press the green selection button. Lets play a rhyming game. Match up the words that sound the same.
Home Button Press the Home Button to return to the Main Menu at any time. 3

Fish for Consonants

Press a colored selection button to catch the fish!
Kasey says the sound of the consonant printed inside the fish.
Hint: When you see this on Kaseys screen, press the red selection button to go directly to Quiz mode. 4
Lets play. Listen to Kasey say a consonant sound and a word that uses that consonant sound. Now, press the colored selection button next to the letter that makes that sound.
If you choose correctly, great job! If you choose incorrectly, Kasey tells you which letter makes the sound.

Spin the Vowel

Press one of the colored selection buttons to spin the vowel wheel.
Listen as Kasey sings a vowel song!

Listen to the sound a vowel makes and a word with that vowel sound.
Hint: When you see this on Kaseys screen, press the green selection button to hear the vowel sound and a word with that vowel sound again. 8

Find the picture with the correct vowel sound. Press the yellow or green selection button.
If you choose correctly, great job! If you choose incorrectly, Kasey tells you the correct answer. Try another one!

Blend up Phonics

Blue Selection Button

Listen as Kasey picks the first letter to make a phonic blend.
Now, press the red or blue selection button to pick the second letter to make a phonic blend.
Hint: When you see this on Kaseys screen, press the red selection button to go directly to Quiz mode. 10
Now, press any colored selection button to blend the letters you chose together.
Listen as Kasey says a word that uses both letters blended together.
Hint: When you see this on Kaseys screen, press the green selection button to hear the phonic sound again. 11

Now, its your turn. There is a picture and a word with missing letters on the screen. And, there are two phonic blends on the top of the screen. Press the red or blue selection button to choose the phonic blend that completes the word and matches the picture!

Rhyme Around

When the music finishes, you can play it again (press the yellow selection button for yes) or you can continue in this activity (press the green selection button for no).

Listen as Kasey says two rhyming words.
Look at the screen and the two rhyming words. Say them along with Kasey.
Now, its your turn. There is a picture and a word on the top of the screen. On the bottom of the screen, there are two pictures with words. Press either the yellow or green selection button to choose a word that rhymes with the word on top.
If you choose correctly, great job! If you choose incorrectly, Kasey tells you the rhyming word. Try another one!

Explore the Math Arcade!
Choose an activity from the Main Menu: Try the Gumball Machine, Count Tickets to Buy Prizes, Win Toys and Compare Sizes or Play Pinball Shapes and Patterns. Press a colored selection button to make your choice. Note: Each activity has a teach mode and a quiz mode. Sometimes, Kasey may skip teach mode and go right to quiz mode. Try the Gumball Machine Press the red selection button. Count the gumballs in the bags and compare which bag has more and which has less. Count Tickets to Buy Prizes Press the blue selection button. Count your tickets and then buy a prize!
Win Toys and Compare Sizes Press the yellow selection button. Find the toys that are long, short, big, little, wide or narrow.
Play Pinball Shapes and Patterns Press the green selection button. Discover how to make patterns.

Count the tickets on both sides of the screen with Kasey!
