PROS: OS, look, Awesomeness ITs great, and the idea is well along with the OS its a Mac downsized. its size is a bit big Bought the 16G WiFi for my wife. She enjoys playing games, surfing the web, reading books, reading email and catching up on her Soaps at ABC.com. Awesome game player, and has replaced my laptop but I do not have to need for business and so I do not know about how those work. Great for traveling,...

My Company uses Citrix, so I am able to run Windows Applications, SAP, even flash and all my GO TO corporate applications on the device. The iPad is exactly what I expected, easy to use, very well executed so long as you understand that it is mainly a device to consume media.

INTRODUCTION
Please read these instructions carefully before using the device. Please retain these instructions for future reference. If you sell the camera or give it away, please ensure that you also pass on these instructions. NOTE: If the camera is connected to a computer via the USB/AV cable, it will not be supplied with electricity via the PC but via the battery. - Using the mode switch, switch between the camera and playback mode. - When you switch on the camera, first the start-up picture will appear. If connecting the camera to a television the start-up picture will not appear. - If you return the camera against the guarantee please delete all programs, data and removable storage media in advance.

1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Warning
To avoid injury, please note the following warnings when using the product. Never point the viewfinder at the sun or any other bright source of light. If you point the viewfinder at the sun, you may damage your eyes. Make sure you are not too close to people when using the flash. Otherwise you could damage peoples eyes. Keep a distance of at least one metre from children when working with the flash function. Do not place the camera strap around your neck. If the strap is placed inadvertently around the neck there is a risk of choking. Do not open up or dismantle the device. Dismantling the device could lead to an electric shock. Tests on internal components, modifications and repairs should be carried out by specialists only. Please take the product to an authorised service centre for checks. Pull out the mains adapter plug if the battery charger is not in use. The socket must be close to the device and within easy reach. If you are not going to use the camera for a period of time, remove the batteries to prevent leakage

1. Safety instructions

The camera must not be exposed to water droplets or spray. Do not place any objects filled with water (e.g. vases) on top of the device.

Battery instructions

You can operate your camera with rechargeable batteries or standard batteries. You can recharge the batteries in the battery recharger supplied. Please note the following instructions when using batteries: Keep the batteries away from children. Seek medical attention immediately if a battery is swallowed. WARNING. Never try to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of an explosion. There is a risk of explosion if batteries are incorrectly replaced. Replace the batteries only with the same or equivalent type. Before inserting the batteries, check that the contacts in the device and on the batteries are clean and, if necessary, clean them. Only use new batteries. Never use old and new batteries together. Do not use a combination of battery types. Please note the polarity (+/-) when inserting the batteries. Store batteries in a cool, dry place. Direct strong heat can damage batteries. Therefore do not expose the device to any sources of direct heat.
Do not throw batteries into a fire, do not short-circuit them and do not dismantle them. Do not expose batteries to extreme conditions; for example, do not place the camera on top of radiators. There is an increased risk of leakage. If the device is not going to be used for long periods, remove the batteries. Remove leaking batteries from the device immediately. Clean the contacts before inserting new batteries. There is a risk of skin irritations from battery acid. Also remove dead batteries from the device. Also note the special safety instructions about the recharging device on page 11.

Precautionary measures

Please note the following precautionary measures to avoid damage to your camera and to keep it in good condition. Store in a dry place This camera is not waterproof and can be damaged if it is immersed in water or if liquids get into the interior of the camera. Keep it away from damp, salt and dust Wipe away salt and dust with a slightly damp soft cloth if you have used the camera on the beach or near the coast. Dry the camera carefully afterwards.
Keep away from strong magnetic fields Do not ever take the camera too close to devices that have strong electromagnetic fields, e.g. electric motors. Strong electro-magnetic fields can cause the camera to malfunctions or corruption of data. Avoid warm conditions Do not use or store the camera in sunlight or in high temperatures. Such intensity can cause the batteries to leak or the case to deform. Avoid extreme fluctuations in temperature If the device is moved suddenly from a cold environment into a warm one or vice-versa, water droplets may form on the inside and outside of the device. To avoid condensation, place the device in its travel case or in a plastic bag before exposing it to sudden temperature changes. Do not drop the device Severe shocks or vibrations caused by dropping the device can cause malfunctions. Place the carry strap around your wrist when carrying the camera. Do not remove the battery when data is being processed. If image data on memory cards is recorded or deleted, switching off the power supply can result in loss of data or damage the internal circuit and/ or the memory. Charging

Inserting batteries
When inserting the batteries, note the polarity +/ as indicated in the battery compartments. The negative pole should be on the spring. You can insert either two AA batteries or two AAA batteries on the upper side: - Insert AA batteries in the upper compartment (1). - Insert AAA batteries in the lower compartment (2). These smaller batteries should be placed at an angle in the compartment so that the positive pole touches the positive contact. Insert two AA batteries below (3)

When you have inserted the batteries, insert the recharging devices plug in a mains socket. If there is a battery in the upper compartments the right LED will illuminate. If there is a battery in the lower compartments the right LED will illuminate. If all compartments have batteries, both LEDs will illuminate.

Stopping charging process
Protection from overcharging
When the batteries are fully charged, the device will switch from the fast charging function to the trickle charge function. Trickle charging begins at the latest after three hours for two AA or AAA batteries or after six hours for four AAA batteries. This protects the batteries from being overcharged. The LED lights will go off when the batteries are fully charged.
Remove charging device from the mains
Although there is protection from overcharging, remove the charging device from the mains after four hours use to prevent any unnecessary wear and tear to the charging device.

3. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Personal computer (PC), laptop, desktop, or IBM-compatible computer with at least 166 MHz processor speed and active USB (universal serial bus) connection. Operating system Windows ME / 2000 / XP, CD ROM drive, colour monitor, keyboard and mouse. Colour printer to print out colour photos. In order to transfer images via the Internet or for a video conference, an Internet connection via modem and relevant Internet software is required. WARNING Install the camera driver before connecting the camera to the PC. The best method of transferring images to the PC is the PC-DISK mode (memory medium).

Information about the memory space: When the internal memory or the card memory is full, the message MEMORY FULL will appear on the LDC monitor. In this case, change the card or delete data from the internal memory/memory card.

Switching the camera on:

Briefly press the POWER button. A signal will sound and the POWER LED will light up. The LCD monitor will switch on and for a short period the start-up picture will appear. To switch the camera off again, press the POWER key again briefly. If the batteries are low, a symbol will appear on the display panel. If the battery power is no longer sufficient, the POWER LED will also flash red.

8. TAKING A PICTURE

Switch on the camera and turn the mode switch to the AUTO position. All the settings for taking pictures by the camera will be automatically set in AUTO mode. Specify the required image section with the LCD monitor. Carefully press the shutter release until you feel a little resistance and hold it in this position. The camera will focus and determine the exposure. When it has focused, there will be a short audible signal and the display panel will light up. The colours of the corners of the focus display will show the focus condition.
Successfully focused: Focusing failed:
The colour of the corners will change from white to green. The colour of the corners will change from white to red.

8. Taking a picture

Press the shutter release all the way down to take the picture. Hold the camera still for another 2 seconds after pressing the shutter release to achieve a blur-free picture.
Once the picture has been taken, it will appear for a few seconds on the display panel. If you want to delete the picture immediately after taking it, press the DELETE key. Then from the dialogue box, using the UP/DOWN keys, select the YES entry and confirm with OK to delete the picture. NOTE: In certain circumstances, the automatic focus could fail for the following reasons: - when taking a picture through a sheet of glass. - when taking a picture of objects with little colour contrast (sky, white walls, etc.). - when two different objects are a great distance from the image section (if the camera focuses on the wrong object) - for subjects that only have horizontal lines.

Focus block

The focus memory allows you to focus on objects which are not in the centre of the picture. Proceed as follows: Select the image section so that the object is in the middle of the viewer and the LCD monitor. Press the shutter release down halfway to focus and to set the exposure. Hold the shutter release in this position and then select the section for the picture. Press the shutter release all the way down to take the picture.

Auto mode

Use the AUTO mode, if you wish all settings such as exposure and focus to be automatically selected by the camera. In this mode, you can also set sharpness, contrast and saturation in the menu. Turn the mode switch to the PORTRAIT position.

Playback mode

In the PLAYBACK mode you can play back and process your photos and videos. Turn the mode switch to the PORTRAIT position. You will find more details about the PLAYBACK mode on page 57.

Video mode

In the VIDEO mode you can record videos with the camera. Turn the mode. switch to the VIDEO position You will find more details about the VIDEO mode on page 55.
11. MENU SETTINGS IN RECORDING/TAKING PHOTOS
Open the main menu in a recording mode to use all settings for recording.
Using any recording mode, press the MENU key to call up the main menu. Using the UP/DOWN keys select a submenu and press the OK key to confirm. The appropriate menu will appear. Using the UP/DOWN keys, select a setting and press the OK key to confirm. The setting is now stored and the main menu will reappear. Press the MENU key to leave the main menu again.

Image resolution

In this setting you can specify the resolution in which the pictures are to be stored. In the SET UP menu you select the cameras basic settings. You can also call up the SET UP menu if you have called up the main menu from the playback mode.

Digital zoom

Set the USB format which is supported by your PC, notebook or printer. PTP: The computer recognises the camera when using the PTP standards (PTP = Picture Transfer Protocol) as a digital camera. Use this setting only if the supplied software is installed on the computer. The computer recognises the camera when using the MSDC standard (MSDC = Mass Storage Device Class) as a drive. Use this setting to download and play back pictures if no software is installed on the computer.

12. TAKING PHOTOS

Switch the camera on and using the mode switch select a picture mode (AUTO, PORTRAIT, MACRO or SCENE). Specify the required image section with the LCD monitor. Carefully press the shutter release until you feel a little resistance and hold it in this position. The camera will focus and determine the exposure. When it has focused, there will be a short audible signal and the display panel will light up. Press the shutter release all the way down to take the picture. Hold the camera still for another 2 seconds after pressing the shutter release to achieve a blur-free picture.
Once the picture has been taken, it will appear for a few seconds on the display panel if you have switched on the quick view.

12. Taking photos

After you have pressed the self-timer, the camera will take 16 photos in succession. Set the photo interval for the photos in advance in the menu in the M-burst interval submenu.

13. RECORDING VIDEOS

Switch on the camera and turn the mode switch to the video mode. position for Select the required image section and press the self-timer to start the video recording. 14. VIEWING RECORDINGS

Viewing photos and videos
Switch on the camera and turn the mode switch to the playback position. Select the individual photos/videos using the UP/DOWN keys. Press the ENTER key to play back a video or to pause the playback. Note: During playback, press the the image section. / keys to enlarge or re-reduce

Slide show

In this playback mode, you can show existing photos and videos one after the other in a slide show in order to play the content of the memory or SD card on a television or another external playback device. Switch on the camera, turn the mode switch to the and press the MENU key. playback position
Select the View entry using the LEFT/RIGHT keys and press the ENTER key to confirm.

14. Viewing recordings

Select the Slideshow entry using the LEFT/RIGHT keys and press the ENTER key to confirm. The photos and videos will now be played back in the sequence in which they were taken. After running through the slideshow the playback will stop on the last picture. Note: If you want to play the slideshow on a television, connect the USB/AV cables smaller plug to the video output on the camera and connect the cinch plug to the corresponding audio and video inputs on your television. Set the cameras video output to the NSTC or PAL setting depending on the type of television.

Enlarging the picture

You can enlarge the picture being shown during playback. Switch on the camera, turn the mode switch to the playback position, select the relevant picture and press the MENU key. Select the Zoom entry using the LEFT/RIGHT keys and press the ENTER key to confirm.
The frame of the image section to be enlarged will be shown on the picture. Select the position of the image section using the UP/DOWN or LEFT/RIGHT keys and press the ENTER key to enlarge the section. The picture will now be shown at twice the original size. Use the UP/ DOWN or LEFT/RIGHT keys to move the picture. Press the ENTER key to return to the original view. Note: Video pictures cannot be enlarged.

18. Transferring photos to the computer Copying files
Copy files as usual onto your computer. For example: Press Ctrl+A to select all photos/videos and then press Ctrl+C to copy the files to the clipboard. Open the directories in which you wish to store the photos/videos and then press Ctrl+V to copy the files to the directory.
19. CHECKING THE CAMERAS CONNECTIONS

For Windows ME

Double-click on My computer - > Control panel -> System -> devices -> device manager - > photo devices. If you see the entries Digital MultiCam II Digital Camera and Digital MultiCam II Video Camera listed, your camera has been correctly installed.

For Windows 2000/XP

Double-click on "My Computer" (Windows 2000) or click on the START button and select "My Computer" (Windows XP) -> Control panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device manager -> Photo devices. If you see the entries Digital MultiCam II Digital Camera and Digital MultiCam II Video Camera listed, your camera has been correctly installed.
20. INTERNET VIDEO CONFERENCING
You can use your camera for a video conference. To conduct a video conference with another person, both people must have a computer with webcam, microphone, speaker, a modem and access to the Internet. You will also need special software for video conferences which is often available for free on the Internet (for example, programs such as I-phone, Microsoft NetMeeting, Yahoo Messenger, etc). Direct the camera at yourself and start the video recording (13. Recording videos on page 56). Please see the menu entries or program help for how to use the software.

Frequently asked questions
Q1: Can I use the camera without batteries if the camera is connected to the computer via the USB/AV cable? A1: No; the camera can only be operated with batteries. Q2: I am not very familiar with digital cameras and often get blurred pictures. Is there a sharpness setting? A2: Yes; turn the macro setting to the flower position when taking closeup photos and to the mountain position for objects further away. Note: If the dial for the macro setting is between these two symbols, the picture will turn out blurred. Ensure there is sufficient light and be sure to hold the camera still for approximately 2 seconds after taking the photograph. Q3: My pictures are often very dark. How can I get lighter pictures? Should I use the flash? A3: Avoid taking photos in areas with very little lighting. If cloudy, use

additional light sources if you wish to take photos. The flash is recommended for taking photos at night. During the day, the flash can be too bright and your photos could be very light. Q4: Once I have taken a photo, it always takes a while until the picture appears on the LCD monitor. Is my camera not working? A4: Larger picture formats require a little longer before they are shown on the LCD monitor. If you would like to shorten this procedure, use a smaller picture format (M, for instance).
