This Disney Princess TV was honestly a pretty good bargain. I got one for my daughter off of craigslist website.

13" Disney princess television Great deal for the price. The television came quickly and was exactly what the seller stated. Worked okay at first We bought this television and dvd player combo about 2 years ago and I have had problems with the dvd for about a year now.

If a battery has been swallowed, consult a doctor immediately. Also, keep the plastic packaging out of reach for children to avoid danger of suffocation. Setting the product up safely Choose a flat, firm surface to set the product on. Make sure that some distance from any walls is ensured no foreign bodies or fluids get into the unit (e.g., do not place vases on the unit) the unit does not get into contact with dripping water, splash water or humidity the unit is not exposed to direct sunlight the unit is not exposed to excessive heat, e.g. from radiators no open fire sources, such as candles, are placed close to the unit Keep the mains connections accessible. Connect the unit to an easily accessible power socket (230 V ~ 50 Hz) close to the unit. In case the unit has to be disconnected quickly, the plug has to be within easy reach. In order to avoid tripping, do not use an extension lead. When absent for a long period of time or during a thunderstorm, pull out the AC mains plug. Do not repair the unit yourself. In case the power supply cord or the unit is damaged, pull out the AC mains plug immediately. Under no circumstances attempt to open or repair the unit yourself. There is danger of electric shock! Refer all servicing to our Service Centre or to another qualifed workshop. CD-Player The CD player is a Class 1 laser product. This DVD player plays DVD-video and audio CDs including MP3CDs. The following symbols in this guide mean: Description refers to playback of DVD video discs. Description refers to playback of audio CDs. Description refers to playback of MP3-discs. Description refers to playback of VCDs. MP3 Moreover, this DVD player can play MP3-CDs, which like computer disc can be divided into folder, subfolders and individual files. DVD structure Video DVDs are divided into sections called "titles" and into subsections called "chapters", each of which is given a title or chapter number: Title 1 Title 2
Normally the first title of a DVD consists of licence and supplier information. The next title is usually the film itself. Further titles may consist of e. g. Making-of documentaries, film previews or information on the actors. Please observe: Playback conditions are preset on some DVD discs, and these playback conditions take priority over user operatios on this player. If a function you selected does not operate as desired, this function my not be realised on the CD.

PLEASE NOTE: Connect the DVD player directly to a TV (not to a VCR). Be sure to turn off the power to all components in the system before connecting another component. If necessary, refer to the user's manual of the TV, stereo system or other components connected. Be sure that the colours of the jacks and plugs match up when using video/audio cables. Be sure to keep the player connection cables separate from the TV antenna cable when you install the player, because it may cause electrical interference when you are watching television programs. Do not place TV on top of this DVD player, unless it is the compatible Medion TV set "MD 3723" or "MD 40518".

Connecting to a TV using a SCART cable
The easiest connection between the TV and DVD, which at the same time provides an very good picture, is the SCART cable (included).
Connecting to a TV using a S-VIDEO OUT and AUDIO cable
Alternatively, you may use a S-VIDEO OUT cable together with an AUDIO cable to output the sound.

Connecting to a Amplifier Equipped with Digital Input Jacks
To connect the DVD to an Amplifier equipped with digital input jacks, such as MD deck or DAT deck, use an audio coaxial digital cable for the audio connections:
NOTE: Set Dolby Digital or MPEG to OFF for audio output in the SETUP MENU. Playing a DVD using incorrect settings may generate noise distortion, and may also damage the speakers.
Connecting to a Dolby Digital decoder or receiver ("home theatre")
If using the DVD player to playback a DVD in a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital surround format, the DVD player outputs a Dolby Digital or MPEG data stream from its COAXIAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack. By hooking the player up to a Dolby Digital or MPEG decoder, you can enjoy a more convincing, realistic ambience such as can be heard in movie theatres. Use an audio coaxial digital cable for the audio connections:

PLAYING A DISC
Unless stated, all operations described are based on the remote control use. Some operations can be carried out on the unit. NOTE: If a feature or function is not available, a Disney-icon will appear on the screen.
Basic Playback Searching Titles
Turn on the power of the TV and, if necessary, any other components connected to the DVD. Make sure the TV (and audio receiver) are set to the correct channel. To turn on the DVD, press POWER. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray. Place a disc in the tray with the label facing up. Press PLAY. The tray closes. Normally, playback starts automatically. If not, press PLAY again. Depending on the DVD, a title menu might appear on the screen first (see "Title Menu"). PAUSE To interrupt playback, press PAUSE. The picture will freeze. Press PLAY to resume normal playback. STOP Press STOP to stop playback. The picture will disappear. A resume message appears on the screen. Press PLAY to resume playback at the point where playback was stopped. To stop playback completely, press STOP a second time. Numerical buttons Press the numerical buttons for the desired track number. On the screen appears an entry field with two or three digits (e. g. 5). If the desired title has less than two or three digits, enter the first empty digits with zeros: for "title 5" enter "05" in a two-digit field, "005" in a three-digit-field. Playback will start automatically. SKIP During playback, press SKIP or repeatedly to move to another track. once to go the beginning of the current track. Press SKIP

You can check the status of the current disc by pressing DISPLAY during playback:
Press DISPLAY once: The elapsed and remaining playing time of the current track will be shown. once: The elapsed and remaining playing time Press DISPLAY of the total disc time will be shown.

Fast Forward/Reverse

Press DISPLAY once: The name of the current title will be shown. Press DISPLAY twice: The name of the current title, the elapsing time, the repeat setting and the playback status will be shown.
During playback, press or. With DVDs, press repeatedly to select the required forward or reverse speed: x 2, x 4, x 8, x 16. To return to normal speed, press PLAY.

Slow Forward/Reverse

During playback, press PAUSE. or ( not ). Then press Press repeatedly to select the required speed: 1/2, 1/4, 1/8. To return to normal speed, press PLAY.
Press DISPLAY once: The elapsed and remaining playing time of the current chapter will be shown. Press the number buttons to go to another chapter directly (e. g. "02" for chapter 2). twice: The elapsed and remaining playing time Press DISPLAY of the current title will be shown. Press the number buttons to go to another title directly (e. g. "02" for title 2). three times: The current repeat setting and, if Press DISPLAY applicable, the layer number will be shown: L 0 = layer 0; L 1 = layer 1). Press DISPLAY once: The elapsed and remaining playing time of the current chapter will be shown. Press another time DISPLAY to leave the function.

PLAYING A DISC (CONT.)

Disc Menu MP3 Playback

DVD normally contain menus to navigate the disc and access special features. Press the appropriate numerical key or use the arrow keys to highlight your selection. Press OK to confirm. NOTE: Please note that it depends on the DVD if the disc- or title menu appears when pressing the corresponding key. JPEG playback

If a CD with MP3 images is inserted, the JPEG menu appears on the screen. A group or folder is indicated by a folder icon. To open a folder, press OK. or. The selected picture will be displayed Select a picture with in the image preview area. Press OK to view the picture in screen size. Now all pictures will appear subsequently for some seconds ("slide show"). If you want to stop the slide show, press STOP. In order to access the first folder (or the folder on the highest level), press "001" with the numerical buttons. Rotating the pictures This is how you can rotate the pictures: : Rotates the picture by 90 clockwise : Rotates the picture by 90 anti-clockwise : Mirrors the picture horizontally : Mirrors the picture horizontally

Repeat

The Repeat function is only available during playback.
REPEAT TITLE/CHAPTER Press REPEAT during playback. The repeat mode changes with each pressing of the button as follows: CHAPTER (repeat current chapter) > TITLE (repeat current title) > OFF (repeat off) > etc. NOTE: The repeat function is not available with some scenes. REPEAT TRACK Press REPEAT during playback. The repeat mode changes with each pressing of the button as as follows: TRACK (repeat current track) > ALL(repeat complete disc) > OFF (repeat off) > TRACK etc.
Press REPEAT during playback. The repeat mode changes with each pressing of the button as as follows: REPEAT ONE (repeat current track) > REPEAT FOLDER (repeat the current group) > repeat off) > etc.
REPEAT A-B Press A B at your chosen starting point. A on the screen.

A appears briefly

Press REPEAT A-B A B again at your chosen end point. A B A-B appears briefly on the screen. The playback of the defined sequence begins. To exit the sequence, press REPEAT A-B A B again. NOTES: The repeat A-B section can only be set within the current title (DVD) or track (CD). The Repeat A-B function is not available with some scenes in DVD.

DVD SETUP
In the STOP-mode, press SETUP There are two main setups: QUICK SETUP to open the DVD Setup Menu. COUNTRY-CODE Some DVDs include languages which are not listed in for the audio language, the subtitle language or the disc menu language. To select such a language, you can enter 4-digit-country-code. Select the last item of the language list: "OTHER", with OK. A fourdigit entry field opens. Enter the four-digit-code of the desired language according to the list at the end of this manual. Display Menu TV ASPECT: see above ("Quick Setup"). AUTO POWER OFF (default: ON): turns the player off automatically after 30 minutes of no use. Audio Menu DRC (Dynamic Range Control) Default: OFF. Set to ON to compress the range of sound volume, that is to reduce loud passages and enforce quiet passages ("night setting"). DOLBY DIGITAL: see "Quick Setup". DOWN SAMPLING Setting ON: If the digital coaxial output is used, ("home theatre"), media coded with a frequency of 96 kHz will be down-sampled to 48 kHz. Setting OFF: The media will be output in their original frequency. For these settings, the menu DOLBY DIGITAL must be set to ON. Parental PASSWORD When asked to enter a password for the first time, enter a four-digit number with the remote control. Remember this new password. Confirm with OK. The factory setting is now deleted. To change the password, select CHANGE. Enter the new four digit password, then press OK. NOTE: If you have forgotten the password, enter 1-2-3-4. PARENTAL LEVEL Confirm with OK to open the menu. A list with nine levels opens, ranging from 1 to 8 and ALL. Setting ALL: There is no parental lock. Level 8 (ADULT): DVDs with any rated scenes will be played. Levels 7-2: Only DVDs with scenes rated the same as or lower than the chosen level will be played. Level 1(KID-SAFE): For DVDs which are suitable even for young children.

Navigate in the menus Use the arrow keys or to select one of the main setups. To enter a setup menu, press OK. The first menu item will be highlighted. Select one menu item (submenu) with or and confirm with OK to open the submenu. In the submenus, select an item with or and confirm with OK to edit this setting. To return to the superiour menu, press. To leave the Setup, press SETUP.
PLAYER MENU Select a language for the player menu (On-Screen-Display): English, French, Spanish, German, Dutch, Italian, Swedish, Danish, or Portuguese. TV ASPECT 4: 3 Pan & Scan: A 4:3 TV displays the picture in full height, but crops it at the sides. 4: 3 Letter Box: A 4:3 TV set shows a 16:9 picture with black bars at the top and bottom 16:9 WIDE: Selection for TV with 16:9 format. VIDEO OUT SCART/CVBS: Setting for a connected TV which does not support the RGB colour system. SCART/RGB: Setting for a connected TV which supports the superiour RGB colour system. DOLBY DIGITAL ON (default setting): Must be selected when the player is connected to a Dolby Digital Decoder. OFF: Can be selected when the player is not connected to a Dolby Digital Decoder.

Language Menu NOTE: A language can only be chosen if it is recorded on the disc. With many DVDs, the languages can also be chosen in the disc menu. AUDIO LANG: Spoken language. SUBTITLE: Language for the subtitles. DISC MENU: Language for the disc menu. PLAYER MENU: Language for the player menu (On-Screen-Display). To select a language, scroll down with the button.

If necessary, refer to the user's manual of the TV, stereo system or other components connected. Be sure that the colours of the jacks and plugs match up when using video/audio cables. Be sure to keep the player connection cables separate from the TV antenna cable when you install the player, because it may cause electrical interference when you are watching television programs. Do not place TV on top of this DVD player, unless it is the compatible Medion TV set "MD 3723" or "MD 3721".
Connecting to a TV using a SCART cable
The easiest connection between the TV and DVD, which at the same time provides an very good picture, is the SCART cable (included).
Connecting to a TV using a S-VIDEO OUT and AUDIO cable
Alternatively, you may use a S-VIDEO OUT cable together with an AUDIO cable to output the sound.

Connecting to a Amplifier Equipped with Digital Input Jacks
To connect the DVD to an Amplifier equipped with digital input jacks, such as MD deck or DAT deck, use an audio coaxial digital cable for the audio connections:
NOTE: Set Dolby Digital or MPEG to OFF for audio output in the SETUP MENU. Playing a DVD using incorrect settings may generate noise distortion, and may also damage the speakers.
Connecting to a Dolby Digital decoder or receiver ("home theatre")
If using the DVD player to playback a DVD in a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital surround format, the DVD player outputs a Dolby Digital or MPEG data stream from its COAXIAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack. By hooking the player up to a Dolby Digital or MPEG decoder, you can enjoy a more convincing, realistic ambience such as can be heard in movie theatres. Use an audio coaxial digital cable for the audio connections:

PLAYING A DISC
Unless stated, all operations described are based on the remote control use. Some operations can be carried out on the unit. NOTE: If a feature or function is not available, a Disney-icon will appear on the screen.
Basic Playback Searching Titles
Turn on the power of the TV and, if necessary, any other components connected to the DVD. Make sure the TV (and audio receiver) are set to the correct channel. To turn on the DVD, press POWER. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray. Place a disc in the tray with the label facing up. Press PLAY. The tray closes. Normally, playback starts automatically. If not, press PLAY again. Depending on the DVD, a title menu might appear on the screen first (see "Title Menu"). Numerical buttons Press the numerical buttons for the desired track number. On the screen appears an entry field with two or three digits (e. g. 5). If the desired title has less than two or three digits, enter the first empty digits with zeros: for "title 5" enter "05" in a two-digit field, "005" in a three-digit-field. Playback will start automatically. SKIP During playback, press SKIP or repeatedly to move to another track. once to go the beginning of the current track. Press SKIP PAUSE To interrupt playback, press PAUSE. The picture will freeze. Press PLAY to resume normal playback.

You can check the status of the current disc by pressing DISPLAY during playback:
STOP Press STOP to stop playback. The picture will disappear. A resume message appears on the screen. Press PLAY to resume playback at the point where playback was stopped. To stop playback completely, press STOP a second time. Press DISPLAY once: The elapsed and remaining playing time of the current track will be shown. once: The elapsed and remaining playing time Press DISPLAY of the total disc time will be shown.

Fast Forward/Reverse

Press DISPLAY shown. twice: The name of the current title, the elapsing Press DISPLAY time, the repeat setting and the playback status will be shown. once: The name of the current title will be
During playback, press or. With DVDs, press repeatedly to select the required forward or reverse speed: x 2, x 4, x 8, x 16. To return to normal speed, press PLAY.

Slow Forward/Reverse

Press DISPLAY once: The elapsed and remaining playing time of the current chapter will be shown. Press the number buttons to go to another chapter directly (e. g. "02" for chapter 2). twice: The elapsed and remaining playing time Press DISPLAY of the current title will be shown. Press the number buttons to go to another title directly (e. g. "02" for title 2). three times: The current repeat setting and, if Press DISPLAY applicable, the layer number will be shown: L 0 = layer 0; L 1 = layer 1). Press another time DISPLAY to leave the function.
During playback, press PAUSE. or. Then press Press repeatedly to select the required speed: 1/2, 1/4, 1/8. To return to normal speed, press PLAY.

Disc Menu MP3 Playback

DVD normally contain menus to navigate the disc and access special features. Press the appropriate numerical key or use the arrow keys to highlight your selection. Press OK to confirm. NOTE: Please note that it depends on the DVD if the disc- or title menu appears when pressing the corresponding key. JPEG playback Repeat

The Repeat REPEAT TITLE/CHAPTER Press REPEAT during playback. The repeat mode changes with each pressing of the button as follows: CHAPTER (repeat current chapter) > TITLE (repeat current title) > OFF (repeat off) > etc. NOTE: The repeat function is not available with some scenes. REPEAT TRACK Press REPEAT during playback. The repeat mode changes with each pressing of the button as as follows: TRACK (repeat current track) > ALL(repeat complete disc) OFF (repeat off) > TRACK etc. : Rotates the picture by 90 clockwise : Rotates the picture by 90 anti-clockwise : Mirrors the picture horizontally : Mirrors the picture horizontally > Rotating the pictures This is how you can rotate the pictures: function is only available during playback. If a CD with MP3 images is inserted, the JPEG menu appears on the screen. A group or folder is indicated by a folder icon. To open a folder, press OK. or. The selected picture will be displayed Select a picture with in the image preview area. Press OK to view the picture in screen size. Now all pictures will appear subsequently for some seconds ("slide show"). If you want to stop the slide show, press STOP. In order to access the first folder (or the folder on the highest level), press "001" with the numerical buttons.
Press REPEAT during playback. The repeat mode changes with each pressing of the button as as follows: REPEAT ONE (repeat current track) > REPEAT FOLDER (repeat the current group) > repeat off) > etc.
REPEAT A-B Press A B at your chosen starting point. A on the screen. A appears briefly Press REPEAT A-B A B again at your chosen end point. A B A-B appears briefly on the screen. The playback of the defined sequence begins. To exit the sequence, press REPEAT A-B A B again. NOTES: The repeat A-B section can only be set within the current title (DVD) or track (CD). The Repeat A-B function is not available with some scenes in DVD.

DVD SETUP
In the STOP-mode, press SETUP There are two main setups: Quick Setup Navigate in the menus Use the arrow keys or to select one of the main setups. To enter a setup menu, press OK. The first menu item will be highlighted. Select one menu item (submenu) with or and confirm with OK to open the submenu. In the submenus, select an item with or and confirm with OK to edit this setting. To return to the superiour menu, press. Audio Menu DRC (Dynamic Range Control) Default: OFF. Set to ON to compress the range of sound volume, that is to reduce loud passages and enforce quiet passages ("night setting"). DOLBY DIGITAL: see "Quick Setup". DOWN SAMPLING Setting ON: If the digital coaxial output is used, ("home theatre"), media coded with a frequency of 96 kHz will be down-sampled to 48 kHz. Setting OFF: The media will be output in their original frequency. For these settings, the menu DOLBY DIGITAL must be set to ON. Parental PASSWORD When asked to enter a password for the first time, enter a four-digit number with the remote control. Remember this new password. Confirm with OK. The factory setting is now deleted. To change the password, select CHANGE. Enter the new four digit password, then press OK. NOTE: If you have forgotten the password, enter 1-2-3-4. PARENTAL LEVEL Confirm with OK to open the menu. A list with nine levels opens, ranging from 1 to 8 and ALL. Setting ALL: There is no parental lock. Level 8 (ADULT): DVDs with any rated scenes will be played. Levels 7-2: Only DVDs with scenes rated the same as or lower than the chosen level will be played. Level 1(KID-SAFE): For DVDs which are suitable even for young children. To leave the Setup, press SETUP. and Custom Setup. Display Menu TV ASPECT: see above ("Quick Setup"). AUTO POWER OFF (default: ON): turns the player off automatically after 30 minutes of no use. to open the DVD Setup Menu. Enter the four-digit-code of the desired language according to the list at the end of this manual.

Quick Setup

PLAYER MENU Select a language for the player menu (On-Screen-Display): English, French, Spanish, German, Dutch, Italian, Swedish, Danish, or Portuguese. TV ASPECT 4: 3 Pan & Scan: A 4:3 TV displays the picture in full height, but crops it at the sides. 4: 3 Letter Box: A 4:3 TV set shows a 16:9 picture with black bars at the top and bottom 16:9 WIDE: Selection for TV with 16:9 format. DOLBY DIGITAL ON (default setting): Must be selected when the player is connected to a Dolby Digital Decoder. OFF: Can be selected when the player is not connected to a Dolby Digital Decoder.

Custom Setup

Language Menu NOTE: A language can only be chosen if it is recorded on the disc. With many DVDs, the languages can also be chosen in the disc menu. AUDIO LANG: Spoken language. SUBTITLE: Language for the subtitles. DISC MENU: Language for the disc menu. PLAYER MENU: Language for the player menu (On-Screen-Display). To select a language, scroll down with the button. COUNTRY-CODE Some DVDs include languages which are not listed in for the audio language, the subtitle language or the disc menu language. To select such a language, you can enter 4-digit-country-code. Select the last item of the language list: "OTHER", with ENTER. A four-digit entry field opens.
