SMART PACK LITHIUM ION BATTERIES
Metabos batteries are: LIGHTER, weighing up to 40% less than NiCd and NiMH batteries. STRONGER, performing more work per charge than 18V Ni-Cd batteries. Designed to last LONGER. >If the battery overheats or is placed under abnormally high loads, the LEDs flash and the Smart Pack shuts off, saving the cells from selfdestruction. >At the push of a button, the LEDs show the charge level and will flash if the battery needs to be recharged. >Over-charging Lithium Ion batteries, or letting them go completely flat, damages battery cells. The overcharge and discharge protection prevents this, ensuring a longer battery life. Always READY TO GO. With a much slower discharge rate than other battery types, Lithium Ion batteries can sit on the shelf for a long time (1-2 years) before going flat. Metabos chargers complement the Smart Pack batteries by using the latest air-cooled charging technology to prolong the batterys useful life. Charging a battery when it is still hot can damage the cells and shorten the batterys life, plus, it takes longer to charge than a cool battery.
