| Bought this drive to replace smaller drive in new Toshiba laptop. It is quick, quiet and no problems. I was so impressed. It seems to work pretty well. When I test it under Linux using the smartctl program. So far it works fine, however I noticed that it is not as quiet as the other disk I had before | |

Miele Built-in Appliances 2006
Welcome to Miele Immer besser Forever better
When the Miele company was first started back in 1899, the founders, believing that success was only achievable in the long term by being totally convinced of the quality of one's product, elected to produce machines that were both durable and long lasting. Their motto Immer besser which translates as Forever better represents this philosophy. It remains our company motto to this day and permeates through every aspect of our business, from the drawing board down to the very last nut and bolt in a machine. And it is thanks to this philosophy that the Miele brand is now identified with unsurpassed product quality, worldwide.
The long life of Miele appliances is legendary and so too is our commitment to making sure that we take care of our environment. Our Research and Development teams are continually striving to improve the performance of our appliances at the same time as conserving resources and economising on the raw materials used. We are the first appliance manufacturer worldwide to receive the Environment Standard DIN EN ISO 14001 certification for all our factories.
Miele publishes a sustainability report every two years. It provides in-depth information on Mieles corporate philosophy, management system functions and many environmentally relevant product details as well as Mieles social responsibility. To download this, go to www.miele.co.uk and select Miele and the Environment from the About Miele-section. To help meet demand there are Miele subsidiaries in more than 30 countries, making us the largest privately held appliance manufacturer in the world. As our policy is one of continuous improvement, new features, accessories and colours may be introduced to models during the lifetime of this brochure. Your Miele Dealer will be pleased to advise on any later developments.

Built-in appliances
Unparalleled quality and impeccable craftsmanship are global benchmarks the demand for products that meet these standards is universal. Miele offers a broad range of products that reflect a multitude of lifestyle needs. From the groundbreaking market innovation of the Miele coffee system to advanced cooking products, the Miele brand is firmly established throughout the world.
Design and innovation Cooking
Long gone are the days when the kitchen was merely a practical work area, designed with different functions in mind. Todays kitchen has developed into a focal part of our lives. It is where families gather, friends chatter, and where many a party finishes. A place where we feel comfortable and want to enjoy life. For this reason it is especially important to create a pleasant environment. Using a skilful combination of colours, shapes and materials, modern kitchen planning can realise your wildest dreams. The chic design of the built-in appliances plays a vital role here. With simple lines and characteristic design underpinning the entire range, Miele is blazng new trails.
The perfect design of the control panel continues in the appliance door. The eye is drawn to the distinctive handle, which continues the theme in both shape and materials. It is comfortable to hold, making the frameless glass door in which your kitchen is reflected, easy to open and close.
Installation options
Endless combinations
Miele also comes out on top in the realm of combination possibilities. No matter how you want your kitchen to look, Miele built-in appliances all match one another and are designed to fit perfectly together, so you can create a feeling of harmony to suit your preferences and tastes without compromising on shape and design. So whatever your personal requirements are, you can rest assured that our ovens, compact ovens, steam ovens, coffee machines, plate warmers and drawers can all be combined to make the very best of the space you have available. All that's left for you to do is to choose the combination of appliances you want!
Oven functions
Miele ovens offer a wide range of programmes to cater for all needs. The single ovens offer a choice of 6, 9 or 12+ programmes as standard, and the large capacity and double ovens offer a combination of programmes as listed in their specifications.
6 function ovens
The entry-level ovens offer the following 6 functions as standard:
Fan heat This function uses the top and bottom heating elements to create the heat. A fan in the back of the oven then distributes the hot air around the oven cavity. With this function, cooking can only be done on one level at a time. or Fan plus This function works by heating air over a ring element in the back of the oven and circulating it around the oven cavity. With even heat distribution, you can bake and roast on different levels at the same time with this function.
Fan grill The infra-red grill and circulation fan work together to quickly distribute heat from the grill element to every part of the food. Excellent for mixed grills, kebabs and chicken pieces.
Full grill The full grill is ideal for grilling large or small quantities of food such as sausages, bacon and fish.
Conventional heat For baking conventional recipes such as fruit cakes, bread and baked dishes on one level at a time. This function uses the top and bottom heating elements at the same time and is available on all ovens.
Gentle bake This function uses the grill and the bottom heating elements on B model ovens, and a ring element together with the fan on BP models. It is suitable for souffls and gratins where a crispy finish is required.
Rapid heat up The oven uses top and bottom heat and the fan to heat the oven up to 180C in just 5 minutes. This is available on most ovens either integrated or as a separate function.
9 function ovens
Ovens with 9 functions have the same 6 programmes as the entrylevel 6 function ovens including Fan plus, as well as Auto roast, Bottom heat and Intensive bake. These ovens have the added benefit of Rapid heat being integrated into the Fan plus, Conventional and Auto roast functions and the grill can be used as an Economy grill for smaller amounts of food.
12 function ovens
12 function ovens share the same functions as the 9 function ovens including both the Fan heat and Fan plus settings, as well as a Defrost and Top heat setting. These ovens also offer Automatic programmes and User favourites which are described overleaf.
Auto roast This programme automatically sears and seals meat at 230C before continuing the roasting process at the lower, pre-selected temperature. Used in conjunction with the roast probe, you can achieve perfect results.
Defrost The defrost programme uses the fan to circulate air, either at room temperature or up to a maximum of 50C.
HUB 61-22 Gourmet oven dish
Deep-sided oven dish, high quality cast aluminium base with Teflon Platinum coating. Suitable for use in all current Miele ovens (sits in the shelf supports of 60 cm wide ovens and may be placed on the wire rack or baking tray in 70 cm wide ovens). Flan dish
This 27 cm circular pan is PerfectClean coated and perfect for cooking pizza and quiche. It is particularly suitable for use in ovens which have the Intensive bake function.
HUB 60-35 Gourmet oven dish lid

HBD 60-22 Gourmet oven dish lid

E-cloth
The E-cloth is a revolutionary cloth which removes grease and stains and leaves no smearing. It is extremely useful for any kitchen and invaluable for polishing stainless steel appliances, giving them a gleaming finish. The cloth is environmentally friendly as it cleans without the use of chemicals, and can be washed up to 300 times for a very long life.
HKL 60 Spacer trim
Available in stainless steel, black or aluminium. Spacer trim, 60 cm wide for use when installing a wall oven, steam oven, microwave combination oven or coffee machine together.
HBS Pizza stone
Glazed firebrick with easy-clean surface coating. Suitable for use on the wire rack in all current Miele ovens (not suitable for use in combi ovens with integrated microwave). For baking pizzas, bread, rolls and tarts eliminates the process of blind baking in ovens that do not have the Intensive bake function. Excellent heat storage properties that ensure crispy results. Supplied with wooden paddle.
Roasting filter
This accessory fits into the back of the oven, and helps keep the oven and fan in the back wall clean and as grease-free as possible. It comes as standard with most ovens, and can be purchased as an optional accessory for all ovens.

Steam ovens
Miele offer an excellent range of built-in steam ovens as well as one freestanding model that is just right for situations where space is at a premium. They are ideal for those who enjoy eating healthily, or for those who simply value speed, convenience and great results every time. They are perfect partners to a hob and oven, and whether you are cooking individual side dishes or a complete menu, there is virtually no limit to what can be
cooked in a steam oven. They can also be used to defrost, re-heat food, blanch and stew food and can even be used for a range of other tasks like sterilising jam jars and bottles.
Simple but effective
The roots of steam cooking lie in China and the Far East, and although it has a very long history, it is still a relatively new method of cooking in the West. ABC of vitamins and nutrients As the food is not immersed in liquid, colours do not leach out and the 13 vitamins and nutrients essential to the human body are retained with virtually no loss. And because there is no need to use fat or add salt and seasoning, the finished result is food, which tastes terrific and can be enjoyed in its most natural state. Steam cooking is vastly superior to traditional cooking for vegetables in terms of preserving delicate nutrients, minerals and trace elements. The retention of sensory properties such as flavour, colour, shape and texture is also improved. Tasting is believing!
External steam generator The principle of steam cooking with Miele is simple and effective. Instead of filling a pan with water, the steam needed for cooking is created outside the oven cavity and is then injected or pulsed into the cavity at exactly the right temperature and at the right moment during the cooking process. With the DG 4064 L water is pumped into a steam generator located outside the oven cavity from the mains water supply. When the steam reaches the required temperature,
it is pulsed into the hermetically sealed chamber, either without pressure using temperatures between 50C and 100C, or with pressure at temperatures from 101C to 120C. On all other Miele steam ovens the water needed for steam cooking is stored in a container outside the oven cavity. This container, which you fill from the tap, contains a heater element to create the steam at temperatures between 40C and 100C.
DGD lid
The lid is suitable for use with the DGG 2 and DGG 7 solid containers N.B. When ordering containers please quote the model number of your steam oven.

For the Barista in you The steam spout ensures perfect froth for your cappuccino and can also be used to warm milk for hot drinks, like hot chocolate. Perfect pump pressure This plays a key role in creating the perfect cup of espresso. The pressure from the pump is set at 14 bar. If the pressure is too high, water flows through the coffee too quickly, resulting in poor quality coffee. The Miele coffee machine is set so that the aromatic substances in the coffee beans are fully released, giving a perfect flavour. Choice of strength and flavour You can set the strength and quantity of your coffee to suit your taste by adjusting the amount of water and coffee beans used. You can opt for 6-14 g of coffee beans, and choose how finely you want the coffee to be ground. The water can also be programmed, so that you can make a cup that is just how you like it.

Universal 55C Ideal for everyday mixed loads. Particularly suitable for modern, environmentally friendly, chlorine free detergents. Universal plus 55C/65C This programme is similar to the Universal 55C programme, but includes a pre-wash, a longer wash time and a choice of temperatures, making it suitable for heavily soiled items.
