Important safety information
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING PRODUCT IN VEHICLE Removing original equipment, adding accessories or modifying your vehicle could affect the vehicles safety or make it illegal to operate in some jurisdictions. Consult your countrys and/or states laws regarding operation of a vehicle with any accessories or modifications. It is your sole responsibility to place, secure and use your Mio in a manner that will not cause accidents, personal injury or property damage. Always observe safe driving practices. Do not mount your Mio in a way that may interfere with the safe operation of the vehicle, the deployment of air bags or other safety equipment. Do not operate your Mio while driving. Before you use your Mio for the first time, familiarise yourself with your device and its operation. On main roads, the distance to an exit calculated by your Mio may be further than the distance shown on road signs. Road signs show the distance to the start of an exit while your Mio shows the distance to the next intersection, i.e., the end of the exit ramp or road. To prepare to exit a road, always follow distance information on road signs. The use of information regarding safety or speed camera locations may be subject to local laws in the country of use. You are responsible for checking that you can legally use the information in your country or in the country where the information will be used. The TV, video player and AV input features MUST NOT be used when driving. Using this feature may cause an accident. Please make sure you comply with this warning. Mio accepts NO liability whatsoever in this regard. Do not handle your Mio while it is hot. Let the product cool, out of direct sunlight. At full power, prolonged listening to your Mio via headphones or earphones can damage the ear of the user. Do not expose your Mio to direct sunlight in an unattended vehicle for prolonged periods. Overheating may damage the unit.
Note: To discourage theft, do not leave your Mio, mounting bracket or any cables in plain view in an unattended vehicle.

Use only the charger supplied with your device. Use of another type of charger will result in malfunction and/or danger. This product is intended to be supplied by a LISTED Power Unit marked with LPS, Limited Power Source and output rated + 5 V dc / 1.0 A. Use a specified battery in the equipment.
About the charger
Do not use the charger in a high moisture environment. Never touch the charger when your hands or feet are wet. Allow adequate ventilation around the charger when using it to operate the device or charge the battery. Do not cover the charger with paper or other objects that will reduce cooling. Do not use the charger while it is inside a carrying case. Connect the charger to a proper power source. The voltage requirements are found on the product case and/or packaging. Do not use the charger if the cord becomes damaged. Do not attempt to service the unit. There are no serviceable parts inside. Replace the unit if it is damaged or exposed to excess moisture.
About the battery
Use a specified battery in the equipment. CAUTION: This unit contains a non-replaceable internal Lithium Ion battery. The battery can burst or explode, releasing hazardous chemicals. To reduce the risk of fire or burns, do not disassemble, crush, puncture, or dispose of in fire or water. Important instructions (for service personnel only) Caution: Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions. How do I turn on my Mio?
Using the power switch
To turn on your Mio, slide the power switch to the ON position. To turn off your Mio, slide the power switch to the OFF position. Your Mio will enter a suspended state. When you next turn it on, your Mio will return to the last screen that you used. To reset your Mio, slide the power switch to the RESET position. When your Mio has turned off, slide the power switch to the ON position
How do I charge the battery?
Your Mio has an internal battery that when fully charged, should provide power for up to 2 hours. The battery can take up to 4 hours to fully charge.
Note: The battery may not be fully charged when you use your Mio for the first time. CAUTION: For optimal performance of the battery, note the following: Do not charge the battery when the temperature is high (e.g. in direct sunlight). There is no need to fully discharge the battery before charging. When leaving your Mio for long periods, slide the power switch to the RESET position to save internal battery power.

CAUTION: When your Mio is turned on and connected to a computer, it is recognised as an external mass-storage device. Do NOT delete any files that are pre-installed on your Mio. Deleting the files can cause your Mio to crash.
How do I charge the battery at home or work?

How do I insert a memory card?
CAUTION: Do not apply pressure to the centre of the memory card.
S700 Series Hold the MicroSD card by the edges and gently insert it into the slot as shown in the above diagrams of your Mio. To remove a card, gently push the top edge of the card inwards to release it, then pull it out of the slot.
Never attempt to disassemble, repair or make any modifications to your Mio. Disassembly, modification or any attempt at repair could cause damage to your Mio and even bodily injury or property damage and will void any warranty. Do not store or carry flammable liquids, gases or explosive materials in the same compartment as your Mio, its parts or accessories.

Power does not turn on when using battery power. Screen responds slowly. Screen freezes. Screen is hard to read. Cannot establish a connection with a computer.
The remaining battery power may be too low to operate your Mio. Charge the battery using the in-car charger, home charger (sold separately) or USB cable, then try again. How do I plan my first trip?
Using your Mio to plan your first trip is easy. There are several ways to select your destination. This section will show you how to navigate to a street address using the FIND address wizard.

How do I search for a location by GPS information?
If you have exact GPS location (longitude/latitude) of your destination, tap and enter GPS coordinates using the Keyboard screen. Find by Keyword
Note: You can enter GPS coordinates in either DMS (Degrees, Minutes, and Seconds) or Decimal Degrees (DD) format. You can omit the decimal portion of Second in DMS format.
After you have entered GPS coordinates, tap OK. The search results screen will display.
How do I set my route preferences?
You can enhance your navigation experience by modifying aspects of your route and route calculations. 1. 2. 3. From the Map screen, tap the undock button or tap the docked menu in Slide Touch mode. NavPix is an image or picture, normally of a location, which contains embedded GPS coordinates that you can navigate to. Sample NavPix images may be pre-installed on your Mio. You can search online and download NavPix images from the Flickr or NavPix website. To navigate to a NavPix location, either a GPS fix must have been available when the picture was taken, or GPS coordinates have been added. See the MioMore Desktop Manual for more information on importing NavPix to your Mio. 1. The My Places screen will display. 2. Tap NavPix to display the NavPix screen.

Note: FM transmitting is not available on all models and is only available in selected countries.
Your Mio can be set to transmit sound at a particular FM frequency which you can then receive through your vehicle radio. This means that you can hear map voice guidance, radio, mp3 files and video voice files clearly and loudly through your vehicle speakers.
How do I set the audio output channel of my Mio through my cars FM radio?
Note: When you first access Audio output, the Internal speaker option is selected by default. If you select FM transmitter the most recently used FM frequency will be used.
1. The My Mio screen will display. 2. 3. 4. 5. Tap FM transmitter. The Audio output screen will display. Select the FM transmitter option and then tap Setup to set the frequency. The Set Frequency screen will display. Tap OK on the guidance message to continue. Tap Set Frequency to set a new output frequency for your Mio. The Set Frequency screen will display.

Note: Tap and hold -/+ to decrease/increase by 1MHz. The fine-tuning frequency unit is 0.1MHz per unit.
Tap any of the save options. The FM screen will display with the saved frequency.
Note: You can only save four FM frequencies on your Mio. Tap Apply Directly to apply current frequency directly. Apply Directly option allows you to set the audio output channel automatically to FM (current frequency).

How do I receive a phone call?

How do I add a contact to my Mio?
Your Mio uses contacts created on your mobile phone. To add a new contact to your Mio, you must first add it to your mobile phone. Refer to your mobile phone user manual for more information.
Note: If there are no contacts on your Mio, you will be prompted to transfer the contact list from your phone. Your phone may disconnect, and then reconnect to your Mio during the transfer.
From the Phone screen tap Phonebook. The Phonebook screen will display.
To synchronise the contact list with your mobile phone, tap Get Phonebook then Yes. Your phone may disconnect, then reconnect to your Mio during the transfer. Contact names will be displayed in alphabetical order. If a contact has more than one phone number, the numbers will be separated into multiple same name entries each with a different number.
How do I search for a contact in my phonebook?

Note: Depending on the country you are navigating, the available search services may vary. Depending on the service selected you can search for POIs by name or by category.
How do I perform local search?

How do I download and install additional map data?
You can download additional maps from the server or the supplied DVD, and then install onto your Mio. 1. 2. In the My Maps panel a Download button download. indicates an additional map is available for
You can select either from the server or the supplied DVD to download a map. To download a map from the DVD, click the greyed out map name. A message will appear asking you to confirm. Click Browse and choose the path to the map.
To download a map from the server, click the Download button. Depending on your Internet connection, it may take time to download a map from the server. 3. 4. A process window will appear. The map is downloaded and saved to the storage folder on your computer. Click Install to install the map to your Mio.
Note: Due to the limitation of storage capacity, your Mio does not support the installation of all European map data. You have to first remove some map data currently installed but not in use before you can install new map data. (See How do I remove maps from my Mio? for details.)
How do I install maps onto my Mio?
1. 2. From the My Maps panel select the on device checkbox next to the map you want to install. A process window will appear. The map is installed onto your Mio.
How do I remove maps from my Mio?
From the My Maps panel deselect the on device checkbox next to the map you want to remove. The map is removed from your Mio.
Note: Removing maps from your Mio does not remove maps from your computer. To delete the map data stored on your at the bottom. Click Yes to confirm. computer select the map and click Note: You can change the location of where downloaded maps and map updates will be saved. See General preferences on page 6 for details.
Speed (safety) Cameras
Note: Safety camera information is only available for selected countries.
Your Mio contains pre-loaded safety camera information. You can purchase the latest safety camera subscriptions on the Mio e-shop website and install onto your Mio via MioMore Desktop. MioMore Desktop Speed Cameras

A list of safety cameras stored on your computer and your Mio. You can sort locations by name or storage option. Display the selected safety camera on the map.
How do I purchase a subscription?
Clicking the Mio Online button at the top right will launch your default web browser and display the companys official website. Follow the instruction on the website to purchase your subscription. A product key will be sent to you via email when you have subscribed. You will need to use this product key to activate your subscription.
How do I activate my subscription?

Enter your product key and click Activate. Follow the prompts to activate your subscription.
How do I import custom safety cameras onto my Mio?
You can create safety camera information files by yourself using specific tools. MioMore Desktop allows you to import these custom files onto your Mio. 1. Complete one of the following: From the Speed Cameras panel click at the bottom.
From the Speed Cameras panel right-click and select Import speed camera.
From the menu bar click File 2. 3. 4.
Navigate and select a file you want to transfer. Click Open. The selected file is imported and listed in the Speed Cameras panel. To transfer the safety camera onto your Mio, select the on device checkbox.
Tip: You can also right-click an item and select Show on device to transfer the item to your Mio; select Show all on device to transfer multiple selected items at a time.
How do I create custom safety cameras via MioMore Desktop?
You can create individual safety camera locations using the map screen. 1. Complete one of the following: From the Speed Cameras panel right-click and select Create speed camera. From the menu bar click File From the display area click 2. 3. 4. New Speed Camera.
Click on a place you want to add a safety camera. The location is saved as a safety camera and listed in the Speed Cameras panel. To transfer the safety camera onto your Mio, select the on device checkbox.

remove a speed camera from your Mio deselect the on device checkbox, or right-click the item and select Hide on device. delete a speed camera from MioMore Desktop from the Speed Cameras panel select the item you want to delete and then complete one of the following: Click at the bottom. Right-click and select Delete. From the menu bar click Edit Delete. From the location summary pop-up select Delete. edit a speed camera share a speed camera select the speed camera to display the location summary pop-up. You can rename the item or edit the speed limit. Your changes are automatically saved. select the speed camera to display the location summary pop-up. Select Share and an email will open ready to send to your friend. Your friend will receive the location file as an attachment to the email. select the speed camera to display the location summary pop-up. Select Set as From Point or Set as To Point and the Go screen will display. (See Go on page 15 for details.)
