We are so glad that you could join us in celebrating tonight. The auction has become a major fund raising event for Playmates. We use the funds to support year-round benefits for our dedicated teachers. Playmates has been an innovator in the field of preschool education and part of the San Francisco community for over 50 years. Our extraordinary staff creates a wondrous environment in which, every day, our children busily explore their capabilities as they move, observe, talk and explore. The staff also helps parents learn more of what it is like to be a child. We are grateful to our alumni for their continued advice and support. Its not at all uncommon for parents, their children long since graduated, to come back and donate their time and skills in helping us fix our accounting system or our playground equipment. We always welcome them. Once youve been part of the Playmates family, youre always part of the Playmates family! Playmates continues to attract parents who want the very best for their children and will work hard to achieve it. Co-oping is an incredible experience that requires courage and commitment, so the parents who have chosen this environment, making their children their highest priority, we salute you! Without your continued support, this auction, our school, and co-oping would not succeed. There is a vast network of businesses and individuals who donated services and goods to make this event possible, and their enthusiastic support has been inspiring. Auction Information and Procedures
Upon arrival, each person will be given a bidder number. For silent auction items, write your initials and bidder number on the bid list together with the amount of your bid. Bidding starts at the minimum bid amount, and subsequent bids must be increased by at least the specified increment. An announcement will be made shortly before each table closes. If your bid is highest when the table is closed, then you are the winning bidder. You may bid on any item as often as you wish, but bid thoughtfully you cannot retract/cross out a bid. Please do not attempt to write you bidder number on bid sheets after the table has closed. For live auction items (see the list beginning on page 1), hold up your bidder number to place a bid. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer will be considered the purchaser. The auctioneer has sole authority to determine the winning bidder. Auction attendees will be fiscally responsible for bids made with their bidder numbers. A member of the auction committee will record the item sold, the number of the successful bidder and the sales amount. This information will be forwarded to the cashier for use during final checkout. Payment for all items must be made by cash, check or credit card before you leave the auction with your purchases. Please, no early checkouts. Any item not paid for by the end of the evening will result in the winning bidder forfeiting their right to purchase the item. All sales are final and items cannon be exchanged or refunded. All items are sold as is. Many items are donated and are subject to mutual agreement of limitations. All auction items and services must be redeemed and used in accordance with these limitations. Where mutual agreement is required, please contact the donor(s). Please note that the amount of your charitable deduction is limited to the amount of the sales price in excess of the fair market value of the item purchased. Childrens Paintings for Auction
The children of Playmates have come together to produce an amazing collection of five fine art paintings on canvas. The young artists in the AM and PM groups have collaborated on the concept of their groups habitat and painted each environment with great artistic vigor and expression. Young Five created a work based on season with a piece entitled, Sunlight Over Green Grassy Hill. The canvases range in sizes, but the average dimension is 30 inches by 30 inches. The canvases are built with heavy duty stretchers, linen canvas, and painted with acrylic paints, inks, medium, and varnish.
