Wir danken Ihnen fr das Vertrauen, das Sie Nikon mit dem Kauf des AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor ED 18-70 mm f/3.5-4.5G IF entgegenbringen. Die optische Leistung von DX Nikkor Objektiven wurde fr die Nikon D2-Serie, D1-Serie, D100, D70S und D70 optimiert, indem die Gre des Bildkreises gegenber handelsblichen 35 mm-Objektiven reduziert wurde. Durch das geringere Gewicht und die kompaktere Gre wird die Handhabung erleichtert. DX Nikkor Objektive wurden speziell fr die Verwendung mit digitalen SLR-Kameras von Nikon (Nikon DX-Format) entwickelt. Die Objektive lassen sich zwar an Nikons Kleinbild-Spiegelreflexkameras ansetzen, liefern dann jedoch aufgrund des reduzierten Bildfeldes keine einwandfreien Ergebnisse. La performance optique des objectifs Nikkor DX a t optimise pour les appareils Srie D2, Srie D1, D100, D70S et D70 de Nikon car ils rduisent la taille du contour de limage, par comparaison avec des objectifs normaux de 35 mm. Thank you for purchasing the AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor ED 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF. Optical performance of DX Nikkor lenses is optimized for the Nikon D2-Series, D1-Series, D100, D70S and D70 by reducing the size of the image circle as compared with normal 35mm lenses. This results in lenses with reduced weight and more compact size for much easier handling. DX Nikkor lenses are specially designed for use with Nikon digital SLR cameras (Nikon DX format). These lenses can be attached to film-based 35mm SLRs, but will not work properly due to the reduced size of the image circle. Before using this lens, please read these instructions and the notes on safety operations in your cameras instruction manual. Also, keep this manual handy for future reference.

Major features
This is a high-grade, internal focusing (IF) lens employing a Silent Wave Motor to drive the focusing mechanism, thus the S designation. As a result, autofocusing is smooth, silent, and almost instantaneous. Autofocus (A) or manual (M) mode can easily be selected with the focus mode switch. Autofocusing with manual override is provided, allowing instant change from autofocusing to manual focusing. More accurate exposure control is possible when this is mounted on a Nikon camera having 3D Matrix Metering capability, because subject distance information is transferred from the lens to the camera body. The use of one aspherical and three ED (extra-low dispersion) lens elements ensures sharp pictures virtually free of color fringing. Also, by utilizing a 7-blade diaphragm that produces a nearly circular aperture, out-of-focus images in front of or behind the subject are rendered as pleasing blurs. Closest focusing distance of 0.38m (1.2 ft.) is provided at all zoom settings.

Variable aperture

Zooming the lens from 18mm to 70mm decreases the maximum aperture approx. 2/3 f/stop. However, there is no need to adjust the aperture, because the camera automatically compensates for this. When taking pictures using a built-in or separate exposure meter, or taking flash photographs in the TTL or nonTTL auto flash mode, use the aperture displayed on the camera.

Ouverture variable

La variation de la focale de 18 mm 70 mm implique une rduction de louverture maximale de 2/3 valeur environ. Mais aucune compensation nest ncessaire parce que lappareil leffectue automatiquement. En prise de vues avec une cellule intgre ou indpendante, ou en photographie au flash en mode TTL ou nonTTL, utilisez louverture affiche sur lappareil.

Attaching the hood
Align the lens hood attachment index ( ) on the hood with the lens hood mounting index on the lens, and turn the hood counterclockwise (as viewed from the camera side) until it click stops. (Fig. A) Make sure that the lens hood mounting index aligns with the lens hood setting index ( ). If the lens hood is not correctly attached, vignetting can occur. To facilitate attachment or removal of the hood, hold it by its base rather than its outer edge. To store the lens hood, attach it in the reverse position.

Fixation du pare-soleil

Alignez lindex de fixation du pare-soleil ( ) sur le pare-soleil avec lindex de fixation du pare-soleil sur lobjectif et tournez le pare-soleil dans le sens inverse des aiguilles dune montre (vue du ct de lappareil) jusquau dclic de mise en place. (Fig. A) Vrifiez que lindex de fixation du pare-soleil est bien align sur lindex de rglage du pare-soleil ( ). Si le pare-soleil de lobjectif nest pas correctement fix, on assiste un effet de vignettage. Il vous sera plus facile de fixer ou de retirer le pare-soleil si vous le tenez par la base et non par le bord extrieur. Avant de ranger lobjectif, fixez le pare-soleil lenvers.

Detaching the hood

While holding its base rather than its outer edge, turn the hood clockwise as viewed from the camera side to detach.

Lens care

Be careful not to soil or damage the CPU contacts. If the lens mount rubber gasket is damaged, be sure to visit the nearest Nikon authorized dealer or service center for repair. Clean the lens surfaces with a blower brush. To remove dirt and smudges, use a soft, clean cotton cloth or lens tissue moistened with ethanol (alcohol) or lens cleaner. Wipe in a circular motion from center to outer edge, taking care not to leave traces or touch other parts of the lens. Never use thinner or benzene to clean the lens as this might damage it, result in a fire, or cause health problems. To protect the front lens element, an NC filter is available. A lens hood also helps protect the front of the lens. When storing the lens in its lens case, attach both front and rear caps. When the lens will not be used for a long time, store it in a cool, dry place to prevent mold. Also store the lens away from direct sunlight or chemicals such as camphor or naphthalene. Do not get water on the lens or drop it in water as this will cause it to rust and malfunction. Reinforced plastic is used for certain parts of the lens. To avoid damage, never leave the lens in an excessively hot place.

Thank you for purchasing your new AF-S Teleconverter. Nikon AF-S Teleconverters TC-14E II, TC-17E II and TC-20E II are precision optical accessories, mounted between the camera body and lens. The TC-14E II provides a 1.4X increase in the prime lens' effective focal length with a one f/stop loss in effective aperture, and the TC-17E II provides a 1.7X increase in the prime lens' effective focal length with a one and half f/stop loss in effective aperture, whereas the TC-20E II doubles the prime lens' effective focal length with a two f/stop loss in effective aperture. Because your AF-S Teleconverter has CPU contacts, you can take advantage of features such as metering system, exposure mode, etc. Before using your new teleconverter, carefully read the following instructions so you get the most out of your teleconverter now and for years to come.
Recommended Focusing Screens
Various interchangeable focusing screens are available for Nikon cameras to suit any type of lens or picturetaking situation. Those which are recommended for use with your lens/teleconverter are listed. For the K2/K3, B2/B3 and E2/E3 focusing screens, refer to the columns on the F4 + DP-20s K, B and E screens, respectively. For details, also refer to the specific focusing screens instruction manual.

Usable lenses

Nikon AF-S Teleconverters are designed exclusively for use with AF-S and AF-I Nikkor lenses. Attaching to the lens

When removing the lens from the camera body to attach the teleconverter, make sure that the camera's power is turned off and avoid direct sunlight. Attach the teleconverter to the lens so that the teleconverter's lens mounting index is aligned with the aperture index on the lens. Taking care not to press the lens release tab, turn the teleconverter counterclockwise (with the lens facing away from you) until it clicks into place. To remove: Slide back the teleconverter's lens release tab gzand turn the teleconverter clockwise (with the lens facing away from you).
