Such a sharp lens. my first high quality lens that i have owned and it blows all other cheap glass out of the water. Great handling lens. Not the fastest autofocus but pretty good considering the amount of glass in this lens. Accurate focusing on my EOS 5D.

It took me a while to decide to buy this lens due to all of the negative reviews I read about focusing issues. Finally. While this lens is a little pricey it offers extremely sharp pictures with excellent depth of field.

I do not have this lens anymore,I had to return all 3 so I will not try again.Significant backfocusing on all 3 lens. I do not have this lens anymore,I had to return all 3 so I will not try again.Significant backfocusing on all 3 lens. This lens does what it says it does. It is perfectly usable at f1.2. It focuses quickly and quietly (better than the 50 f/1.4).

I became aware of the 50/1.4 lens through a photo web. After discussing the lens with a couple of good local photographers.

I have to say this lens gives me results I never imagined getting with a camera. First I must say, everything everone is saying about the great optics is infact true. It makes GREAT photos. Even as a novice. This is my only non-L Canon lens and it stacks up quite well to my L lenses.

Takes some time to get use to this great lens! It is a little heavy but you soon get use to it. Durable,Easily Interchangeable,Quick Focus. Shooting at f1.2 really opens some creative doors in terms of perspective, bokeh, and unusual affects.

It is definitely an excellent lens. Sometimes I encounter back focus problem and I guess it is because the focus spot is too dark. Other than that.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm F1.4G Lens Review: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Re. Seite 1 von 2

1. Introduction

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4G review Andy Westlake, June 2009
The AF-S Nikkor 50mm F1.4 G is Nikon's latest take on the classic 'standard lens' concept, and was introduced in September 2008. It's a replacement for the older AF-Nikkor 50mm F1.4D which we reviewed last year, with revised optics to better meet the demands of modern high-resolution full frame sensors. The optical formula is an updated version of the classic 'double Gauss' design, with an additional element placed towards the rear to give an 8 element, 7 group configuration. According to Nikon, this improves correction of off-axis aberrations, which promises better performance towards the edges of the frame particularly when using large apertures. The AF-S designation indicates that the lens features a built-in 'Silent Wave' motor for fast and quiet autofocusing, which also provides full compatibility with Nikon's entry-level DSLR bodies such as the D60 and D5000. A further benefit afforded by this ring-type motor is the 'manual priority autofocus' mode, which allows the user to adjust focus manually after autofocusing. There's also a circular aperture design which employs 9 rounded blades, for a more natural rendition of out-of-focus backgrounds. Of course all these improvements over the older lens come at a price, and the AF-S 50mm F1.4G is significantly more expensive than its predecessor. It also has to compete with the other new kid on the block the impressive (if slightly more costly) Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM. So lets find out how it compares to these two lenses, and whether it's worth your hard-earned dollars.

Nikon AF-Nikkor 50mm F1.4D Lens Review: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Revi. Seite 1 von 2

1. Introduction

Nikon AF-Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4D review Andy Westlake, September 2008
The AF-Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4D is Nikon's current version of their fast 'standard' prime lens, and while this specific model was introduced in 1995, the basic optical design dates back to the manual focus 50mm 1:1.4 AI of 1977. It features a traditional layout of 7 elements in 6 groups utilizing spherical surfaces only, which Nikon claims will deliver distortion-free images with superb resolution and colour accuracy, plus high contrast even at maximum aperture. The 50mm focal length classes it as a 'standard' lens on the FX format, with none of the 'perspective distortion' characteristic of wideangle or telephoto lenses, whilst on the vastly more popular and widespread DX format it behaves like a short telephoto, ideal for portraiture. The 50mm 1:1.4 is one of the older lenses in Nikon's lineup, and this is reflected in several aspects of its design. The lens features a traditional aperture ring, which will no doubt be appreciated by photographers who grew up with mechanical manual-focus 35mm SLRs such as the FM range (although the only DSLRs on which it can actually be used are the high-end D1-D3 and D100-D700 bodies); however autofocus is 'screw-drive' from the camera body, and therefore won't work on the entry-level D40, D40x and D60. Like the Canon EF 50mm F1.4 USM which we've recently reviewed, the Nikon 50mm 1:1.4D commands a hefty price premium over its little brother in the range, the AF-Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8D. It's also up against stiff competition in the shape of the impressive new Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM and the Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm F1.4 T*, although both of these lenses are considerably more expensive, and the Zeiss is manual focus only. So what does the Nikkor have to offer in this day and age?
