| J&R just threw the Nikon box containing the lens inside a box just large enough for the Nikon box WITH NO ADDITIONAL PACKING MATERIAL. This is a pricy lens, but if you are even considering moving up to an fx from dx, get it. Its a worth while investment. | |

| Sharp portraiture lens gives you room to work with subject. Ideal for close up work. I find the image sharp on both auto focus as well as manual. I got this lens based on the recommendation of a 35 year photo-pro. He talked me into getting this lens over the 85mm f/1.8. I use this lens for all my pet portraits. | The Nikon 105mm F2.8D AF macro lens is a real gem to use. It is very well built. The manual focusing of the lens is smooth and well damped. Been distibuted independently of the Nikon Multiphot. The Multiphot itself existed in two versions. The Nikon AF-S VR 105 mm f / 2.8 IF-ED offers the advantages of vibrate reduction (VR) in the area of macro-photography. It offers a high resolution. | |

Features The worlds first macro lens featuring a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) and the Nikon Vibration Reduction System (VRII) allowing for high-quality hand-held macro shooting. The VRII function minimizes camera shake allowing photographers to shoot hand-held at as many as 4 shutter speeds slower * (at near infinity to 1/3 life size) than would otherwise be possible, assuring dramatically sharper images. A Nikon Extra - Low Dispersion (ED) glass element delivers superior optical performance for both digital and 35mm photography. ED glass minimizes chromatic aberrations, contributing to improved contrast and resolution performance. The incorporation of Nikons exclusive Nano - Crystal Coat technology further ensures superior optical performance by virtually eliminating internal lens element reflections. Internal Focus (IF) provides fast and quiet auto-focusing without changing the length of the lens, retaining subject working distance through the focus range. Non-Rotating Front Design provides for more convenient use with circular polarizing filters and R1C1 Wireless Close-Up Speedlight System. Provides continuous focusing from Infinity to life-size (1:1), offering extra working distance in demanding conditions. The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) enables fast and quiet autofocusing, and quick switching between autofocus and manual operation (M/A and M).
