Thank you for your purchase of an MH-19 multi charger. Use the MH-19 with the batteries listed below: Batteries that can be recharged (but not refreshed) using the MH-19: EN-EL3 (Li-ion rechargeable battery for the D100 digital camera) Batteries that can be recharged, or refreshed (see third column), using the MH-19: MN-30 (Nickel-Metal Hydride battery for F5 camera) MN-15 (Nickel-Metal Hydride battery for F100 camera) EN-4 (Rechargeable battery for D1 series digital cameras EN-3 (Rechargeable battery for E3/E3s digital cameras)
Use the F5 charge cord MC-E1 (available separately) to connect the charger to the MN-30 Use the F100/D1 charge cord MC-E2 (available separately) to connect the charger to the MN-15, EN-4 and EN-3.

Battery Use: Precautions

Batteries are not fully charged at shipment. Charge batteries before use. When recharging a battery, the ambient temperature should be between 535C (4195F) or the battery may not fully charge or may not function properly. When recharging, the ambient temperature should be in the vicinity of 535C (4195F). The internal temperature of a battery may rise while the battery is in use. If you attempt to recharge a battery while the internal temperature is elevated, the battery will not charge or will charge only partially. The battery may also not function properly. Wait for the battery to cool before charging. Do not attempt to recharge a fully-charged battery. Failure to observe this precaution will result in reduced battery performance. Should you notice smoke or an unusual smell coming from the charger, unplug it, taking care to avoid burns. Take the charger to a Nikon-authorized service center for inspection.
b. Insert the charge cords battery plug into the batterys charge cord inlet. (Figure 4-b. The battery in the figure is the EN-4.) The orange Ni-MH CHARGE lamp will begin to blink, indicating that the battery is now charging. When the battery charge reaches 80% of the batterys full capacity, the green 80% lamp will light. When the CHARGE lamp stops blinking and remains lit, charging is complete. c. When charging is complete, disconnect the charge cord, first from the battery, then from the multi charger. Charging more than one battery at the same time. Batteries are charged in the order of connection (insertion). Note the following exception: When charging more than one battery, the battery connected or inserted first will be charged first. The remaining batteries will be charged in ascending order as shown by the numbers on the charger (see Figure A). Batteries are charged one at a time. The 80% lamp

Use one of the power cords supplied to connect the MH-19 multi charger to a household power outlet (AC) or to your vehicles cigarette lighter (12 volt DC). Before using the multi charger, read the warnings and other information in this manual and in the documentation provided with the battery you are using. After reading, be sure to keep documentation where it can be seen by all those who use the product.

The shape of cigarette-lighter sockets varies with the make of vehicle. As a result, the plug may not fit in the socket or may not stay securely in place once plugged in. a. Insert the car outlet cables DC adapter plug into the chargers DC inlet. (Figure 2-a). b. Insert the car outlet cables cigarette lighter plug into your vehicles cigarette lighter. (Figure 2-b). The CHARGE lamp will not light until a battery is inserted.
Refreshing the battery (MN-30, MN-15, EN-4, EN-3)
After recharging one of the above batteries 2030 times, completely discharge then recharge the battery. This is referred to as refreshing the battery, and helps extend battery life.
Cigarette lighter plug fuse (Car outlet cable only)
If the fuse in the cigarette lighter plug blows, replace it with another 2A fuse. If the new fuse blows immediately after replacement, take the DC power cable to your local retailer or Nikon Service Representative.

1 Connect the power cable and the charge cord as described in Recharging Batteries, above. 2 Press the REFRESH button.
The yellow REFRESH lamp will light, showing that the battery is now discharging. When the battery is completely discharged REFRESH lamp will turn off. As soon as the REFRESH lamp turns off, the CHARGE lamp will light. If you do not wish to recharge the battery, disconnect the charge cord from the battery.

Replacing the fuse

1 Remove the end of the plug by rotating it counterclockwise.(Figure 5-a). 2 Remove the fuse and insert a new one. 3 Replace the end of the plug by reattaching it and rotating it clockwise. (Figure 5-b).

2 Charge the batteries

Charging an EN-EL 3 a. With the arrow on the battery top facing the CHARGE lamp, place an EN-EL3 in one of the battery bays. Make sure that the battery indentations match the charger projections (Figure 3-a). b. Slide the EN-EL3 towards the CHARGE lamp, until you hear it click into place (Figure 3-b). The orange Li-ion CHARGE lamp will begin to blink, indicating that the battery is now charging. When the battery charge reaches 80% of the batterys full capacity, the green 80% lamp will light. When the CHARGE lamp stops blinking and remains lit, charging is complete. c. When charging is complete, reverse the insertion steps above to remove the battery. Charging an MN-30, MN-15, EN-4 and EN-3 a. Insert the charge cords charger plug into one of the MH-19s charge cord inlets (Figure 4-a). Use the charge cord for F5 (MC-E1 sold separately) when charging the MN-30. Use the charge cord for F100/D1 (MC-E2 sold separately) when charging the MN15, EN-4 and EN-3.

Wenn Sie whrend des Entladevorgangs eines Akkus einen EN-EL3 einsetzen, wird der Entladevorgang unterbrochen und erst wieder fortgesetzt, wenn der EN-EL3 vollstndig aufgeladen ist. Whrend der Unterbrechung blinkt die REFRESH-Anzeige. Wenn Sie zwei Akkus gleichzeitig an die Ladeanschlsse des MH-19 anschlieen, wird der Akku zuerst aufgeladen, der zuerst angeschlossen wurde. Wenn Sie den zweiten Akku auffrischen mchten und die REFRESH-Taste drcken, blinkt die REFRESH-Anzeige, weil das Ladegert noch mit dem Aufladen des ersten Akkus beschftigt ist. Der zweite Akku wird erst aufgefrischt (vollstndig entladen und geladen), wenn der Ladevorgang des ersten Akkus beendet ist oder der Akku vorzeitig vom Ladegert getrennt wurde.

Safety Precautions

The Nikon MH-19 can only be used with the batteries listed above. Do not attempt to use any other batteries with the MH-19. If connecting the MH-19 to your vehicles cigarette lighter: Do not use while the engine is off. Failure to observe this precaution could exhaust the vehicles battery. Secure the charger so it will not obstruct your driving while the vehicle is in motion. Failure to observe this precaution could result in a traffic accident.
