With the COOLPIX5000, 4500, 995, the built-in Speedlight is set to Flash Cancel. Only an optional external Speedlight can be fired. With COOLPIX990, set the flash to Flash Cancel. Using the flash with the WC-E68 in place could result in insufficient or excessive lighting or uneven brightness. Taking photographs in macro close-up mode To take photographs at very close range, use macro closeup mode. As conditions however vary according to distance and brightness, it is recommended that you check the image in the LCD monitor or take a test photograph before recording the final photo.

The Nikon WC-E68 Wideangle Converter
Thank you for your purchase of the WC-E68 wide-angle lens converter for use with the Nikon COOLPIX5000, 4500, 4300, 995, 990, 950, 900s, 900, 885, 880, 800 and 700 digital cameras. The WC-E68 increases the angle of the camera lens to enhance wide-angle performance. The focal length of the cameras lens is reduced by 0.68, maximizing lens angle when the camera is zoomed all the way out. Attention: An adapter must be used to attach the converter to the camera

Installation (Illust. COOLPIX5000)
1. Remove the cap on the back of the WC-E68. 2. With the COOLPIX5000, attach the UR-E5 lens adapter (sold separately) to the camera lens, before screwing the lens converter into the front of the adapter. With the COOLPIX4500, 995, 990, 950, 900s, 900 and 800 attach the UR-E7 lens adapter (sold separately) to the camera lens, before screwing the lens converter into the front of the adapter. With the COOLPIX4300, 885, attach the UR-E4 lens adapter (sold separately) to the camera lens, then attach the UR-E7 lens adapter (sold separately) to the UR-E4. After attaching both adapters in the above order, screw the lens converter into the UR-E7. With the COOLPIX880, attach the UR-E2 lens adapter (sold separately) to the camera lens, then attach the URE7 lens adapter (sold separately) to the UR-E2. After attaching both adapters in the above order, screw the lens converter into the UR-E7. With the COOLPIX700, attach the UR-E1 lens adapter (sold separately) to the camera lens, then attach the UR-E7 lens adapter (sold separately) to the UR-E1. After attaching both adapters in the above order, screw the lens converter into the UR-E7. 3. Remove the front cap.

Cautions

The WC-E68 is intended for use with the Nikon COOLPIX5000, 4500, 4300, 995, 990, 950, 900s, 900, 885, 880, 800 and 700 digital cameras. It cannot be used with other cameras. The optical viewfinder can not be used to check the camera angle when the WC-E68 is attached. Use the LCD monitor to confirm angle and focus. Mounting the WC-E68 increases the total weight of your camera. To prevent blurring, be sure to hold the camera firmly. When the WC-E68 is attached, do not pick the camera up by the converter alone, as this may damage the equipment. You should also be sure to detach the WCE68 when transporting the camera. Ghosting may occur when a very bright light source, such as the sun, is framed in the photograph or is just outside the frame. Some distortion may occur in the periphery of photographs taken with the wide-angle converter. This is normal. Be careful not to scratch the lens, which projects out from the converter and is susceptible to damage. When cleaning the lens, remove dust with a blower. Do not apply force. If a fingerprint or other stain is found on the lens, wipe it off gently with a soft, clean, cotton cloth dampened lightly with pure ethanol. Move the cloth in an even spiral from the center outward, being sure to clean all parts of the lens. Replace the front and rear lens covers when the adapter is not in use. When the WC-E68 is attached, the focus distance set in manual focus mode or fixed infinity focus in infinity focus mode does not coincide with the actual focus distance due to optical characteristics of the WC-E68. It is recommended that you check the image in the LCD monitor or take a test photograph before recording the final photo.
Taking photographs with the WC-E68
Taking photographs with the COOLPIX5000, 4500, 4300, 995, 990, 950, 900s, 900, 885, 880, 800, or 700 in wide converter mode Selecting wide converter mode from the LENS or EXTRAFUNC submenus in the shooting menu automatically changes camera settings to create photographs that make the best use of the wide-angle lens adapter. The procedure for setting the camera to wide converter mode is given below. Refer to the documentation included with your COOLPIX5000, 4500, 4300, 995, 990, 950, 900s, 900, 885, 880, 800 and 700 for details. 1. For all cameras (except the COOLPIX5000, COOLPIX4500 and the COOLPIX880), turn the mode dial to M. (If you are using the COOLPIX5000, set the mode selector to Shooting Mode. If you are using the COOLPIX4500, press the MODE button and rotate the command dial until P, S, A or M is displayed in the monitor. If you are using the COOLPIX880, turn the mode dial to P, A, M, or CSM.) 2. Press the MENU button to display the shooting menu. (If you are using the COOLPIX5000, use the shooting menu to set the camera to custom number 1, 2 or 3.) 3. With the COOLPIX5000, 4500, 4300, 995, 990, 885 and 880 use the multi selector to choose Wide Adapter from the LENS submenu. With the COOLPIX950, 800 and 700 select WIDE from the LENS submenu using the zoom and the shutter release buttons. With the COOLPIX900s and 900 select WIDEADAPTER from the EXTRAFUNC submenu using the zoom and the shutter release buttons. Return to shooting mode. A lens converter icon will be displayed in the LCD monitor. With the COOLPIX5000, 4500, 4300, 995, 990, 950, 900s, 900, 885, 880 and 800 when the camera is set to wide converter mode, the lens is automatically zoomed out to minimum zoom, allowing you to take photographs at the widest possible angle.
