Rugged. Dependable. Up for any job or challenge. While these words certainly describe the Patrol Pickup, were talking about you. After all, when youre out negotiating rough South African terrain, you need a vehicle that can follow your lead. There are many reasons why the Patrol Pickup is heading towards legendary status, not least of which is the power of what lies beneath its bonnet. With its new 4.2 litre intercooled turbo diesel engine, 90kW of power at 3 600rpm and an impressive 282Nm of torque at 2 000rpm, this machine makes the roughest dirt roads shudder. It gives you power when you need it. This in-line 6 cylinder power plant is as hardworking as it is durable. With 90% of its maximum torque available from a very low 1 500rpm, its sure to assert its dominance in the most unforgiving surroundings.
THE RO UG HER THE ROAD, THE BETTER THE RIDE
A vehicle designed to conquer countryside that no other 4x4s would dare venture into has to be strong through and through. The Patrol Pickups amazing approach angle of 42 and departure angle of 30 confirm its fearless nature. Its transmission is no exception, with a chain driven transfer case thats as tough as the rest of the vehicle. But strength isnt its only quality. This forgiving five speed manual transmission with double cone synchromesh on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears also ensures an ultra comfortable drive, and the Limited Slip Differential maintains traction and grip on slippery surfaces. This gives the Patrol Pickup a certain advantage, particularly when driving off-road. Its imposing All-Terrain Suspension, incorporating a heavy-duty coil spring suspension with 3 links in front and leaf springs at the rear for superior stability, ride comfort and load carrying ability, makes the Patrol Pickup just as comfortable and confident on tarmac. Should you want to get back to the rocky road however, a class-leading minimum turning radius will make this a swift and effortless act.

IN FOR THE LONG HAUL

When youre in the middle of nowhere, stopping to refuel at the local petrol station could mean driving for hours. Thats when the Patrol Pickups massive fuel capacity becomes more than a convenience, it becomes a necessity. With a standard 95 litre main tank and an 80 litre sub tank, youll need to stop and fill up long before your Patrol Pickup does, as this extreme vehicle takes pleasure in going beyond boundaries. Add to that a towing capacity of 2 500kg on a trailer with brakes and youre truly in for the long haul.

WHAT INDEPENDENCE LOOKS LIKE
Value the independence of a strong, durable body that can take you anywhere? Built on a separate ladder chassis designed with rungs for rigidity and strength, the all-steel Patrol Pickup body is as powerful as the engine that pulls it. It also has a 700mm wading depth, long wheel stroke and superior ground clearance for off-road driving. The Patrol Pickups body is strong and practical, but dynamic too. The distinctive, shapely hood gives off a prestigious air, while curves in all the right places give it a lively, playful character. Whats more, it has a wider cargo bed with corrosion proofing and anti-rusting wax added to the underbody. All in all, a body thatll turn the most demanding heads.

The Patrol Pickups incredible strength is equally matched by its incredible safety. Superior design and engineering minimise the level of injury resulting from a possible impact, as well as reduce the risk of secondary or aggravated injury just after impact. Extended and reinforced front crumple zones and a collapsible steering column ensure ultimate protection if youre unlucky enough to be involved in a frontal collision, while sturdy steel anti-intrusion bars in the doors protect you from side impacts.

The Microdot technology offers added peace of mind from a security perspective. A sticker applied to the vehicle is a visual indication that the vehicle has been fitted with Nissan Microdot, and this is also a deterrent to would-be thieves. Some insurance houses are offering premium discounts to customers if they have this anti-theft feature fitted to their vehicles.
