The Nokia N95 (N95-1, internally known as RM-159) is a smartphone produced by Nokia as part of their Nseries line of portable devices. Use the Nokia N95 for connecting to mobile Broadband using WLAN or HSDPA (3.5G) with up to 10 times faster downloading than 3G.

Buggy hardware and software My wife bought this phone for me last year. Recently my phone started rebooting by itself very frequently. Sturdy I like the cover because it has protected my cell phone; I have dropped it couple of times ( since I am a little careless while handling ). Auto shuts down The device would automatically shut down without warning. Does not notify wether or not the recording has stopped.

Missing touch screen with qwerty keyboard on it, missing auto positioning sensor (horizontal or vertical same as iPhone) for screen rotation.

It is the N95-3! As per the box label...Works flawlessly on AT&T 3G...A firmware upgrade is available...Does not randomly restart...

My N95 has all the features that you could ask for. I am very pleased with it. There are areas for improvement. Much improved over the "Euro/Can" version. Longer battery life and sufficient memory to run almost any number of apps.

Nokia Success Case

Spider-Man 3 Embedded in Nokia N95 8GB Device
Company information: Sony Pictures Entertainment, Inc. http://spiderman3.sonypictures.com/ Culver City, California
The full-length movie Spider-Man 3 has been embedded in the Nokia N95 8GB device.
Spider-Man 3, the movie, has crawled onto the Nokia N95 8GB device, representing the ultimate convergence of content and mobility. Movies full-length movies, not just trailers or spots can now be made resident on the new Nokia N95 8GB multimedia computer. They can play from end to end on the brilliant QVGA screen, and leave room enough on the device for a lot more movies, music, and other multimedia content from a variety of sources. To celebrate the beginning of this new era in mobile computing, Nokia has licensed Spider-Man 3 from Sony Pictures Entertainment, and embedded the full-length movie on all new Nokia N95 8GB multimedia computers to be sold in Europe and selected parts of the Middle East and Africa. Our license agreement with Sony Pictures for Spider-Man 3 is worldwide, so we also intend to bring this out in other regions, says Ilkka Raiskinen, senior vice president, Multimedia Experiences, Nokia. For example, the movie will be available in Latin America on the Nokia N73 and Nokia N95 on memory card.
Spider-Man leads the first wave
We are very particular about preserving the quality of presentation of our branded content across the board, and in the Nokia N95 8GB we see a device that looks really good. The QVGA screen has true color depth, and the image is as good an output as you are going to find in the mobile industry, says Joe Arancio, vice president, Advanced Platforms at Sony Pictures Television.

Language localizations

As with many other Sony Pictures releases, the movie is dubbed and/or subtitled to match the local languages in which the film is released, and this is reflected in the localized versions that are embedded in the Nokia N95 8GB devices. The movie is dubbed in English, French, German, Castilian Spanish, Russian, and Italian, while the English-language version is also available with subtitles in Arabic, Portuguese, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Latin-American Spanish, and English.

Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) and his duties as a superhero. But a storm is brewing. When his Spider-Man suit suddenly changes, turning jet-black and enhancing his powers, it transforms Peter as well. Under the influence of the suit, Peter becomes prideful and overconfident, and he begins to neglect the ones he cares about the most. As villains Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) and Venom (Topher Grace) hunger for revenge, Peters greatest battle is the one within himself. Spider-Man will need to rediscover the compassion that makes him who he is: a hero. The answers, and the action, are all played out spectacularly on the screen of the Nokia N95 8GB device. The Nokia N95 8GB is an excellent mobile platform for the hosting of Spider-Man 3, says Joe Arancio, vice president, Advanced Platforms at Sony Pictures Television. We are very particular about preserving the quality of presentation of our branded content across the board, and in the Nokia N95 8GB we see a device that looks really good. The QVGA screen has true color depth, and the image is as good an output as you are going to find in the mobile industry. As he sees it, the term convergence means the joining of the computational and physical capabilities of the mobile device with presentational requirements of quality, full-length media. There is more going on in there than just the substantial task of translating movie content from memory to the screen. There is also the on-the-fly decoding required by the digital rights management algorithms. That combination requires a lot of compute power in a very small package. It is only the latest generation of processor chips, such as the dual-CPU ARM11 chip with hardware graphics processor that is inside the Nokia N95 8GB, that can accomplish that task. This underlying technology is invisible to the user, but it translates into a high-quality media experience that everyone can understand. Arancio is very optimistic about the future of feature film viewing on devices such as the Nokia N95 8GB device. How could one not be excited about having Nokia devices and other S60 platform devices becoming capable of holding feature-length movies? he asks. If you look worldwide, Nokia alone sells more than a third of the worlds mobile devices, and Nokia is clearly positioning the Nokia N95 8GB as their premier multimedia device. I think that this is a base upon which a large consumer audience can be built.

Key features of the Nokia N95 8GB device

Because the Nokia N95 8GB device has a TV output, consumers can also view the movie with friends on a much larger screen. They do so by simply connecting the composite video and stereo audio outputs to a standard television, and playing the movie directly from the device to the TV. A closer look at the Nokia N95 8GB device reveals that it has capabilities far beyond being a playback mechanism for movies. It is also a great mobile communications device, with dual-mode capabilities that unite broadband reception for WLAN or High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) (3.5G) with GSM/wideband CDMA (WCDMA) reception capabilities. It receives Extended GSM (EGSM) at 850/900/1800/1900-MHz frequencies, as well as WCDMA 2100 HSDPA. Its 2.8-inch-high QVGA screen has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, each at a full 24-bit color depth. It also sports a 5-megapixel onboard camera with Carl Zeiss optics, flash, red-eye reduction, and a self-timer. Consumers can record their own videos with the device and share them with their friends over the air (OTA) via a variety of social networking portals. They can also transmit and receive content through the devices Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 port or Bluetooth 2.0 enhanced data rate (EDR) interface.

Consumers can get more Spidey stuff
The Nokia N95 8GB device contains the Download! client, which enables consumers in selected countries to obtain a Spider-Man 3 bonus clip, Spider-Man games and a Spider-Man ringtone through an online shopping portal. With 8 GB of storage on board the Nokia N95 8GB device, there is plenty of room for the consumer to download a variety of music, videos, pictures, TV clips, and other content from a variety of sources. The full-length Spider-Man 3 takes up less than 1 GB of space, leaving the majority of storage space for the consumers future content needs.
