| Bought the 16G WiFi for my wife. She enjoys playing games, surfing the web, reading books, reading email and catching up on her Soaps at ABC.com. Awesome game player, and has replaced my laptop but I do not have to need for business and so I do not know about how those work. Great for traveling,... | |

www.iuchip.com INTRODUCTION Printers/copiers makers decided several years ago to implement different systems in their products to limit the number of copies/prints that can be made by the imaging, drum, starter, toner, or any other consumable unit to a prefixed value. That is to say, the printer/copier locks when any of the consumable units reaches their prefixed limit value, not permitting more prints. Printings will not be allowed until the exhausted unit is replaced. Makers give us no choice to extend the life of those units, even though it is absolutely feasible. For that purpose, printer makers add electronic chips to their imaging/drum/starter/toner units than contain data about the number of copies/prints made. If you replace the chip of an exhausted unit by a new chip with the correct data, the printer will detect the unit as a new one. This way we are able to extend the lifetime of the consumable units in variable ratios that depend on each model and on the kind of work carried out. In most cases, according to the experience of our customers, lifetime cycle can be doubled easily.
IUCHIP provides chips to extend the lifetime of imaging (drum/starter) and toner units for models of printers/copiers shown on the second page of this catalog. You can save a lot of money in your consumable expenses.
HOW TO IMPROVE CHIPS PERFORMANCE FOR MODELS BH C250/252/300/352 We have learnt from the feedback from our customers that original CMYK imaging units for Konica Minolta models bizhub C250/252 and C300/352, and the equivalent models of Develop, Olivetti and Oc (see table on page 2), hardly arrive to half of their expected lifetime (45.000 prints for CMY and 70.000 prints for K). This is because the imaging unit chips not only count the prints made, but also the turns made by the OPC drum, and there is also a limit value for turns. The drum turns in many different situations in which prints are not produced: during warming up, automatic calibration processes, in between jobs In above mentioned models, CMY imaging units also count drum turns even while producing pure black prints. Therefore, for a machine basically printing in black and white, the CMY IUs get exhausted without making color copies. In some cases they reach their limit with less than 5.000 copies made, as their turns are always counted. Therefor, we come to the conclusion that the imaging units always reach the prefixed limit value for drum turns first, and not the one for prints. Obviously, that stops us from getting the full capacity of imaging units to produce prints. To be able to achieve the best performance of imaging units of models bizhub C250/252/300/352 (and equivalents from other marks) we provide two kinds of chips: 1. Normal Reset Chip: both print counter and turn counter are set to 0. 2. Special CMV Chip: print counter is set to 20.000, but turn counter is set to nearly 0.

When re-installing an imaging unit with its exhausted chip replaced by a normal reset chip, the machine detects it as a new one, starting an automatic quality adjustment process. Once this process is finished the machine goes to Ready to print state. Sometimes automatic adjustments are not enough, and manual image stabilization adjustments have to be carried out to have a correct quality. That can take between 10 and 30 minutes. Additionally, it can also happen that print quality problems appear after some few thousand copies, mostly thin color stripes (due to marks on the CMY drums) or dirty areas on the copies (due to toner on the charging grid). That means that the chipped image unit has to be replaced by a new one after, lets say, not more than 10.000 extra prints. Why is this sudden change in print quality consistently appearing shortly after resetting an image unit? We must take into account that the quality was good before resetting the imaging unit. That gives us the clue to determine that the quality problems are not strictly related to the imaging unit itself, but to some specifications of these machine models. Models bizhub C250/252 and C300/352, and equivalents from Develop, Olivetti and Oc (see table on page 2), use the print counter value of the image unit stored on the chip to adapt the high voltage adjustments (HV, charge and bias). An image unit with 25.000 prints has the right HV adjustments that prevent little defects on the drum surface or dirtiness on the charging grid to be reflected on the print/copies. When we replace the chip of this unit and its print counter is set to 0, we cause the HV adjustments to be adapted as if it was a new unit, and therefore we are increasing chances of having quality problems. To prevent these problems we provide the CMV (Counter in Medium Value) chip. As we mentioned before, in this chip the print counter is set to 20.000. After installing this chip the machine HV adjustments will be adapted to the real life of the unit, so the same print quality we had before replacing the chip will be maintained. This way the life cycle of an imaging unit can be extended in 25.000 extra prints (from 20.000 to 45.000, which is the print limit value). In fact, that means that a new life cycle can be achieved with the chipped unit. To fulfill these expectations, additionally the drum turn counter in the CMV chip has been set to approximately 0, so that this counter will not reach the limit before the print counter will. Summarizing, we have two options: 1. Replace the exhausted chip by a reset chip. The life cycle of the imaging unit will be extended maximum in a 40% (10.000 extra prints vs. 25.000 real prints that can be made with a new imaging unit). Most probably image stabilization adjustments will be needed. 2. Replace the exhausted chip by a CMV chip. The life cycle of the imaging unit can be extended up to a 100% (25.000 extra prints vs. 25.000 real prints that can be made with a new imaging unit). Image stabilization adjustments are not needed. Both options allow you to save money, if you take the remarkably high price of a new imaging unit into account. But it should be clear that the CMV chip is the most efficient and convenient one, because a new life cycle can be achieved and no adjustments are necessary.
