The major flaw that I noticed was trying to take vertical pics on this cam. Being that the flash is somewhat weak, when you turn the cam vertical.

High style, low performance; short life I finally got the "card cover open" error that so many other users have gotten (see various web forums). Problem with card cover This was a great camera until it was out of warranty.

(Edited September 26th by brucedp) Men will have no problem with the heavier weight of this rugged camera, but small people may. Fairly inexpensive.

Small, cute, and probably marked down. This is a point and shoot camera. It can be a good choice if you like to keep things simple. I bought this camera because of its small size. Construction is perfect, great design. Quality of outside day-light pictures is good.

Good image quality - photo and video. Battery life. Stylish design which detracts from usability. Reliability is suspect.

I paid less than $50.00 for a brand new (display clearance) camera and was still disappointed !!! Great photo quality at a reasonable price! The battery should last longer before recharging! With the traveling that I do these days I would not be without my trusty camera to record the events of everyday moments in time.

As a would-be replacement for a old Canon Stylus digital camera (one of the first 1.8 MP models) I bought this camera.

Updating Firmware via OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater Software Overview Olympus digital cameras are controlled by internal software called firmware. Firmware dictates the features and functionality that are available in a given product, including what display language is used by its menus. From time to time, Olympus may offer optional firmware updates for its products to change or add features or functionality. If you wish to take advantage of the enhancements, or if you wish to add support for an alternative display language, you must apply a firmware update. This article explains how to download and install the OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater software and how to use it to update the firmware of Olympus digital cameras, lenses and accessories. Caution Be advised that if a firmware update is performed improperly the camera may need to be serviced to have it returned to an operational state. Click here for information on sending Olympus digital cameras to an Olympus Service Center. A products firmware cannot be returned to an earlier version once it has been updated. Downloading OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater is a software application used to update the firmware of Olympus digital cameras (including lenses and accessories) via the Internet. To download and install the application, please do the following: 1. Click on the link below to visit the OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater download page.
http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/download/software/camera/camera.cfm
2. Review the System Requirements and verify that your computer meets them. 3. Review the License Agreement for the program. If you agree to the terms, click Accepted. 4. On the resulting page, click on the Windows or Macintosh button to download the installer for the appropriate version of the OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater software for your computer. 5. Before updating the firmware of your Olympus equipment, do the following: 1. Log on to your computer using an account with Administrator privileges. 2. Connect the computer to the Internet. Olympus recommends using a hard-wired connection, if available, to limit the risk of service interruption during the firmware update. A wireless connection may also be used. 3. Make sure the camera has sufficient power to complete the operation. Use freshly charged batteries or the optional AC adapter. (Adapter not available for all models.) 4. Remove the memory card from the digital camera. Downloading and Applying a Firmware Update To update the firmware of a camera or camera accessory (e.g. lens, flash) using OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater, do the following: 1. Launch the OLYMPUS Digital Camera Updater program. The following screen will be displayed:
2. Read the instructions, and then connect the digital camera to the computer using its bundled USB cable. If you are updating an E-System digital camera, attach all components (lens, flash, etc.) that are to be updated before connecting the camera.

Your camera may display a selection menu on the LCD.1 By default, the USB Connection mode for transferring images to the camera will already be selected. (Depending on the model, this may be either STORAGE or PC. If you do not know which mode to use, refer to the cameras instruction manual.) Press the cameras [OK] button to activate the selection and establish the connection between the camera and computer. Do not press any other buttons on the digital camera, turn off the camera, or disconnect the USB cable from the camera during the firmware update. Click Next to continue. 3. If newer firmware is available, they will be displayed in a dialog box in the center of the window. To see what will be changed by applying an update, select it from the list and then click Details. 5. When the digital cameras LCD displays OK, as shown in the dialog box below, the firmware update is complete. Click Next.
6. Disconnect the USB cable from the camera and computer, and then click Close.
Most Olympus digital cameras automatically detect and set the correct USB Connection mode to use when they are connected to a device (such as a camera or printer) via their bundled USB cables. Some models, including E-System DSLR cameras, have the ability to change the USB Connection setting via a menu that may be called USB Mode or PC Mode. The default value is AUTO. In this mode, the camera will display a selection menu after it is connected to a computer. However, if the setting is changed, the menu may not be displayed. For example, when the mode is set to STORAGE, the connection will be made immediately; no selection is required. When the mode is set to anything other than AUTO or STORAGE, the LCD screen will be dark and files cannot be transferred to the computer. In this case, safely disconnect the camera, set the mode to AUTO or STORAGE, and then repeat the operation.

The camera may activate the lens and make a
noise even if no operation is performed. This is because the camera automatically performs actions of auto focus as far as it is ready to shoot.
Wait until #(ash charge) stops blinking before

taking pictures.

With prolonged camera use, the internal
temperature may increase, resulting in automatic shutdown. If this occurs, remove the battery from the camera and wait until the camera has sufciently cooled. The cameras external temperature may also increase during use, however this is normal and does not indicate malfunction.
