Notes on use (Battery Charger)

DANGER

Do not attempt to use this charger with anything other than Olympus CAMEDIA NiMH batteries. Using them in combination with other batteries may cause leakage, overheating and explosion. Do not immerse the charger in water. Using it in a humid area such as in a bathroom may cause fire, electric shock and overheating. Do not use the charger with batteries that have been inserted with their and terminals reversed. It may cause battery damage, leakage, overheating or explosion. Never modify or disassemble the charger. It may cause overheating, fire, electric shock and injury. Be sure to use the charger with the proper voltage (AC 100 - 240 V). Using it with other voltage levels may cause smoke, fire, overheating, electricshock, burns, or may cause the battery to burst. For safety, be sure to disconnect the power plug from the outlet before performing maintenance or cleaning. Also, never plug in or disconnect the power plug with a wet hand. It may cause electric shock and injury. Do not use this product as a DC power supply. It may cause overheating and fire.

Do not use the charger if the power plug is damaged or the plug is not completely connected to the outlet, otherwise it may cause a short circuit, fire or electric shock. Disconnect the power plug from the outlet when not charging. Make sure to hold the plug when removing the power plug from the outlet. Do not bend the cord excessively or put heavy object on it. It may cause power plug damage, electric shock, overheating or fire. If something appears to be wrong with the charger, disconnect the power plug from the outlet and consult your nearest service center. Do not use or keep the charger in places of high heat that is directly exposed to sunlight or near the heat sources. It may cause battery leakage, overheating, explosion or fire. Do not attempt to charge continuously for more than 2 days (48 hours). It may cause the batteries to leak, overheat or explode. Be sure to charge batteries within the temperature range of 0C 40C/32F - 104F, otherwise it may cause batteries to leak, overheat or explode. Do not put anything heavy on the charger or leave it in an unstable position or in a humid place. It may cause overheating, fire, leakage, explosion and injury.

Persons who use BU-300E When using in a foreign country, use a power plug that is compatible with the shape of the power outlet. Notes on use (B-01E Rechargeable Battery)
Be sure to use only with the B-20C/BU-100/BU-200/BU-300 battery charger. Do not insert the batteries with their and terminals reversed. Do not solder lead wires or terminals directly onto a battery or modify it. Do not connect the and terminals together or let the batteries contact metals such as necklaces and hairpins. Do not connect the batteries directly to a power outlet or a cigarette lighter of an automobile. Do not expose batteries to fire or heat them. If any liquid from a battery gets into your eyes, promptly wash it off with clean water and consult your doctor at once.

Stop charging if the charge is still incomplete after the specified time it should take. Do not expose the rechargeable batteries to water. Do not allow water to contact the terminals. Do not remove or damage the battery case. Do not directly connect more than 20 batteries together. Do not use the batteries if you find something wrong with them such as leakage, color change or deformity. Keep the batteries out of the reach of children. Should any battery liquid get on skin or clothing, promptly wash it off with clean water. Keep batteries away from fire. Never short-circuit or disassemble batteries.
B-01E rechargeable batteries are exclusively for use with the Olympus CAMEDIA digital cameras. Do not use them in combination with other equipment. Do not subject batteries to strong shocks. Do not use charged and discharged batteries together. Do not use with other types of batteries, or with batteries that have different voltages or brand names. When connecting more than two batteries, be sure they were all charged simultaneously. When using new batteries, or batteries which have not been used for a long time, be sure to recharge them even if they were only used for a short period of time.

How to insert the batteries
You cannot charge the batteries when the positive and negative polarities on each battery do not correspond with those of the charger. Be sure to insert batteries in their proper orientation as shown in the figure.

Notes:

Batteries may become warm while charging, but this is not malfunction. There may be static on other electronic equipment (such as a radio or television) if the battery charger is plugged in to the same outlet. If this occurs, plug the battery charger into a different outlet. Avoid charging or discharging close to a heat source (such as in front of a heater or in direct sunlight). Charge batteries within the temperature range of 0C - 40C/32F - 104F. When you carry the batteries, use the provided battery case to avoid damage or shortcircuits. A humming sound may occur during charging. This is normal and is not a malfunction.

This charger is exclusively for use with Olympus CAMEDIA digital cameras. Never use in combination with other equipment.

1 Discharging

Batteries self-discharge while they are not in use. Be sure to charge them regularly before use. 2 Battery life Charging and discharging are possible for approximately. 300 times depending on their use. 3 Operating temperature Batteries are chemical products. Battery efficiency may change for a time even within the recommended temperature range, but this is not a malfunction.
New batteries or batteries that have not been used for a long time (more than one month) may not be fully charged. This is not a malfunction, but is a characteristic of the battery. Charge them two or three times before using them for the first time or when they have not been used for a long period. When you dispose of dead batteries always observe the laws and regulations regarding the disposable of such items. If NiMH rechargeable batteries are not fully discharged, protect against shortcircuiting (e.g. by taping the contacts) before disposing. For customers in Germany Olympus has a contract with the GRS (Joint Battery Disposal Association) in Germany to ensure environmentally friendly disposal.
