| Best Digital Camera I have owned this camera since it was first offered by Olympus. H urged others to buy it also and they all, like I. The C4000 may be an older camera, but still takes great pics! I think I bought my Olympus C4000 back in 2003 and I still use it from time to time. | |

Why Olympus?
Youre about to make a decision. Olympus? Or some other brand? Naturally, we think it should be Olympus. We could point out that in 1920, we gave Japan its first microscope. Our long experience with optics has resulted in the clearest, most distortion-free lenses the world has ever known. And the quality of the lens is the single most important factor in determining the quality of your picture. But it goes beyond that. It has more to do with the all-consuming dedication to excellence that produced those advanced optics in the first place. The dedication that has driven the company from the very beginning. Our dedication can be seen in the long string of innovations weve introduced over the years. It can be seen in the extreme level of performance, durability and ease of use thats in every Olympus product. And most importantly, it can be seen in your pictures. We suggest you research your decision carefully. Consider what youll get for your money. Money's too hard to earn to waste a single dollar. Then make a good decision. And of course, if you end up going with Olympus this time, youll find that next time, you wont really have a decision to make.

The E-10s all-in-one lens design allows us to perfectly match the lens to the precision camera CCD. It also lets us seal the camera body, keeping damaging dust away from the CCD. The E-10s lens refracts light directly into the pixel wells, filling them with information properly.

Photographers demand a lot from their cameras. So do we. We designed the E-10 SLR with features that make you want to reach for it every day, along with the durability that makes it tough enough to be used every day. If youre serious about your pictures, this is the digital camera that will finally allow you to capture the photos youve always wanted.
The all-aluminum body performs two important functions. It acts as a heat sink to keep the high-resolution CCD cool and keep electronic noise out of your pictures. And it provides the strength to make the E-10 a durable, daily use camera.
The three-position LCD color monitor operates in standard position (flush against the camera body), 90 up to let you shoot down to ground level easily, and 20 down for viewing overhead shots.
The fully multi-coated, 14-element, 11-group, ED and aspherical glass 4x zoom lens was designed specifically for high-resolution digital photography.
The E-10 has a built-in, multimode, scene-detecting flash. Or you can attach the optional FL-40 external flash, which is a scenedetecting flash with the E-10, to the hot shoe. Or use studio strobes.
The E-10 is Storage Class USB. It mounts on your computer with no additional software, and allows you to open images from within your applications.
The E-10s advanced metering system quickly determines exposure under a variety of difficult lighting conditions. Use digital ESP multi-pattern metering, center-weighted metering or spot metering.
The E-10 SLR features dual media slots, to accept SmartMedia and CompactFlash (Types I and II) simultaneously, and allow you to copy from card to card.
The more control you have, the more freedom you have.
Sometimes greatness is spontaneous. Sometimes its well-planned. Thats why the E-10 gives you the option of fully automatic controls or fully manual controls. balance settings ranging from 3000K to 7500K. Or set the one-touch manual white balance using a sheet of white paper, for example, as a reference point. To help you quickly dial in on your exposure, switch on auto bracketing to take three quick images of your subject. The first shot will be underexposed, the next frame normal and the last frame overexposed. You can bracket in 1/3, 2/3 or full stops. Another valuable tool the E-10 gives you is a histogram. During image playback,
a bar graph displays distribution of lights and darks to help you adjust exposure. Its a quick way to tell if whites might blow out or blacks might plug up.
The E-10 SLRs histogram.
Like to always be ready? The E-10 SLRs dual autofocus system is precise and lightning-fast. Nothing will get by you. Or
you can use the manual focus ring as you would on a traditional SLR, up to as close as 8" in macro mode.
If youre used to instinctively focusing manually, youre probably also the kind of photographer who will appreciate the E-10s manual zoom ring. And since it works independent of the exposure controls, you can shoot and zoom at the same time. For rich, true colors and clean whites, the E-10 gives you a number of ways to set white balance. You can choose iESP (intelligent Electronic Selective Pattern) TTL auto white balance. Or choose from seven preset white
P h o t o g ra p h y i s t h e art of using light.
Aside from its many exposure controls, the E-10 SLR offers other ways to help you use light to make beautiful pictures. In-camera metering is fast and accurate in a variety of difficult lighting situations. Our digital ESP multi-pattern metering measures light from multiple areas of the image. Center-weighted metering concentrates on light in the center of the viewfinder. And Spot metering concentrates on a much smaller area (about 1.6%) in the center of the viewfinder. Of course, another way photographers work with light is by generating it. The E-10
excels in that area, too. As youd expect, the E-10s built-in flash operates in a variety of modes. You can choose from auto flash for low- and backlight conditions, red-eye reducing flash, fill-in (forced on) flash and flash off to take advantage of natural light. And going beyond what youd expect from a digital camera of this caliber, the E-10s flash is an exclusive scene-detecting
external flash to the E-10s hot shoe. Youll increase your flash distance to more than 30 feet, and have greater control. When used with the E-10, the FL-40 also works as a scenedetecting flash. And for studio work, a PC Sync lets you easily connect to studio strobes.
The E-10 SLR handles the most
flash. So if your subject is standing off to one side at dusk, the flash compensates and makes sure the right amount of light is fired. You can also attach our optional FL-40
difficult and diverse lighting conditions with ease. For instance, it faithfully captures every nuance of Hollywoods magnificent Pantages Theatre.
