Automatic starting
When you connect an Olympus USB camera, the connection is recognized automatically, and this software starts. For Windows XP [Launch CAMEDIA Master] is added to the [Removable Disk] dialog box. Select from the list and click the [OK] button to start this software.
This function is not available in the Macintosh version.
For details of automatic playback settings, refer to the Windows XP Help.
For Windows 98/98SE/Me/2000 A confirmation dialog box appears, asking if you want to start this software. Click the [OK] button to start this software. Removing the software from the system tray Right-click on the icon in the system tray, and select [Exit].

u Thumbnail size slider Drag the slider to vary the thumbnail display size. There are five size steps, in increasing size from left to right. The smaller the thumbnail images, the more you can display in the image display area. i Image display In browse mode this shows thumbnail images of the image, movie and sound files within the selected album or folder; in view mode it shows a selected image or movie file. o Thumbnail sorting order buttons These sort the thumbnails of the image, movie and sound files within the selected album or folder in order of shooting date or file name.

The album window has two display modes, as follows. Browse mode Displays thumbnails of the image, movie and sound files within an album or folder. View mode Displays a single image or movie file selected in browse mode.

To select browse mode When you open the album window it is initially in browse mode. Use either of the following methods to switch from view mode to browse mode. Double-click on the image. Drag the display mode slider to the left. To select view mode Use either of the following operations to switch from browse mode to view mode: Double-click on any thumbnail. Select one thumbnail, then drag the display mode slider to the right.
Album display and folder tree display
In browse mode, there are two display views, of the albums and of the folder tree, as follows. Album display Displays the groups, albums, and calendars managed by this software, either as icons or as a tree. Folder tree display Displays the drives and folders managed by the operating system, as a tree.

Checking File Information
Checking file information
In the album window, select a file and click the tool button [Properties] to display information relating to the file. The information displayed depends on the file type, and includes the following items. For image files

Detail tab If the file format is ExifJPEG or Exif-TIFF, click the [Modify] button to change the shooting date. You can also add a comment (maximum 117 characters of text). When there is linked sound, click the [Play] button to play it back.

Changing the shooting date
If the image file format is Exif-JPEG or Exif-TIFF or the movie file format is QuickTime movie, you can change the shooting date. If you forgot to set the shooting date, or the battery has gone dead, resetting the date, this function allows you to set the shooting date of an image at a later stage. Use the following procedure to change the shooting date.
In the album window, select an image or movie file whose format is ExifJPEG (*.jpg), Exif-TIFF (*.tif) or QuickTime movie (*.mov), and click the tool button [Properties]. The [Properties] dialog box appears. (The example shown below is for an image file.)

Click the [Modify] button. The [Modify Date] dialog box appears.

Set the date and time, and click the [OK] button. This changes the shooting date in the [Properties] dialog box.
Playing linked sound
When an image has linked sound, the sound icon information. appears as part of the file
To play the linked sound Click the sound icon. To stop playback Click the sound icon again, or press the Esc key.
Recording linked sound
The linked sound function associates a sound file with an image. This allows you to record a memo in audio. The maximum recording time is 60 seconds, and the file format is Wave (*.wav). Use the following procedure to record linked sound.
To record linked sound, your computer must have a microphone, speaker and sound card installed. For more details, refer to the operating instructions provided with your computer.
In the album window, select an image file and click the tool button [Properties]. The [Properties] dialog box appears.
About linked sound playback, see Playing linked sound (page 50).

Click the [Record] button, and provide the sound through the microphone. When you click the [Record] button, the [Stop] button appears. Click the [Stop] button to stop recording. To check the recorded sound Click the [Play] button.
Click the [OK] button. This saves the recorded sound. 51
Organizing Files
Conventions for File Organization
This software handles images and other files within My Album in Albums and Groups of Albums. The following figure illustrates this.

This software organizes albums with the following conventions. Image, movie, and sound files can only be held within albums, and cannot be held directly within a group. A group can only be created within the My Album. An album can only be created within a group.
Creating a Group or Album
When the album window is showing the album display, to view images, or play sound, the corresponding files must be stored in albums. This section describes how to create a new album to hold files, or a new group to hold albums.
You can also create a new group or album in the Transfer Images window.

Check that the album window is in browse mode, showing the album display. In the album display, click the group where you want to save the new album to be created. Click the [New Album] button. The [Create New Album] dialog box appears. 53
Creating a group Select [Group]. Do not enter anything in the [Create In] box. Creating an album 1) Select [Album]. 2) Click the button on the [Create In] pull-down list. A list of the current groups appears. 3) Select the group to contain the album.
In the [Name] box enter the name of the group or album. Click the [OK] button. The new group or album appears in the album display.
Creating a Folder
When the album window is showing the folder tree, you can view images within the folders. This section describes how to create a new folder to hold files.

Check that the album window is in browse mode, showing the folder tree display. In the folder tree display, click the folder to contain the new folder. Example: To create a folder in drive D, click D:. Click the [New Folder] button. The [Create New Folder] dialog box appears.
In the [Name] box enter the name of the folder. Click the [OK] button. The new folder appears in the folder tree display.
Selecting Files
When the album window is in browse mode, use the following procedures to select files. To select a single file Click on the desired file. To add files to the selection In Windows, hold down the Ctrl key, and on a Macintosh hold down the Command key, then click on the extra file or files in turn. To select a range of files Click the first or last file in the range (rectanguar area), then holding down the Shift key, click the file at the other end of the range. Alternatively, drag the mouse to select the range.
Copying Files
Use the following procedure to copy a file from one album or folder to another.
With the album window in browse mode, select the file to be copied. Click the tool button [File] and select [Copy].
You can also select multiple files and copy them in a single operation.
You can only select [PRINT Image Matching] for a printer that supports it. Further, depending on the printer, carrying out automatic correction may require you to make detailed settings, such as changing the paper type.
In the print window, click the [Printer Settings] button. The printer settings dialog box appears. To apply automatic corrections, check the [Automatic compensation] box. Check [ExifPrint] or [PRINT Image Matching]. Click the [OK] button.
The check box is inoperative if the function is not supported by the printer.

Do one of the following. In the main menu, click the [Print - Photo] button. In the album window, click the tool button [Print] and select [Photo]. The Photo Print window appears.
If you accessed the Photo Print window from the album window, the images in the selected album or folder appear in the image display area.
Select the album or folder containing the image or images you want to print.
A thumbnail display appears in the image display area.
In the print setting panel, select [Standard Paper] or [Pre-cut Paper], and select a layout. The layouts for [Pre-cut Paper] support the divided paper formats for Olympus printers (either adhesive labels or perforated sheets), and are as follows. P-A4P A4, 2 divisions P-A4L A4, 4 divisions P-60NS4E A6, 4 divisions P-60NS16E A6, 16 divisions
The print layout appears in the preview display area.
Do one of the following. Select an image in the image display area and click the [Add] button. Drag an image from the image display area onto the layout. Repeat step 4 to fill the layout with the images you want to print. To rotate an image In the preview display area, select the image you want to rotate, and click the tool button [Rotate], then select [Clockwise 90], [Counterclockwise 90], or [180]. To edit an image In the preview display area, select the image you want to edit, and click the tool button [Edit] to open the image editing window.
On how to edit an image, see Editing Images (page 114).
To delete an image from the layout Select the image you want to delete, and click the [Remove] button. To add a new layout page Click the [Add Page] button. To delete a layout page Select the page you want to delete, then click the [Remove] button. To change the number of pages shown in the preview display Drag the preview layout slider. You can select 1, 2, or 4 pages.

To add extra information to the header or footer Click the header or footer button to open a dialog box, then select date, page, or page number/total number of pages, or enter a comment. Click the [OK] button to confirm.

Sending Images by E-mail
Sending images by e-mail
Use the following procedure to send an image by e-mail.
Thumbnails Rotate button Edit button To use this function, your computer must already be set up to send and receive e-mail. (You will need an Internet service provider, network software, and so on.) For more details, refer to the operating instructions provided with your computer or Internet service provider. To e-mail images using this software, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) must be able to provide you with a Simple Mail Transfer Protocol server address (SMTP). An SMTP is the standard method to send e-mail messages between servers. Internet-based e-mail accounts may not use this type of setup. Please check with your ISP before attempting to e-mail images.
If you accessed the E-mail window from the album window, the images in the selected album or folder appear in the image display area.
Do one of the following. In the main menu, click the [E-mail] button. In the album window, click the tool button [Create] and select [E-mail]. The E-mail window appears.
Select the album or folder containing the image or images you want to send by e-mail. A thumbnail display appears in the image display area.
Do one of the following. Select an image in the image display area, and click the [Add] button. Drag an image from the image display area to the file attachment area. Repeat step 3 , to place the images you want to send in the file attachment area.
To rotate an image Select the image you want to rotate in the file attachment area and click the tool button [Rotate], then select [Clockwise 90], [Counterclockwise 90 ], or [180]. To edit an image Select the image you want to edit in the file attachment area, and click the tool button [Edit] to open the image editing window. To delete an image from the file attachment area Select the image you want to delete, and click the [Remove] button.
Saving e-mail addresses in the address book
By saving the e-mail addresses of people you will be sending to, you can save having to enter e-mail addresses each time you send an e-mail. Use the following procedure to save an e-mail address in the address book.
Click the [Address] button to the right of the [To:] box. The [Address Book] dialog box appears.

Click the [New] button. The [E-mail Address] dialog box appears.
Name E-mail address
Enter the name and e-mail address, and click the [OK] button. The new e-mail address appears in the [Address Book] dialog box. 93
To change an e-mail address In the [Address Book] dialog box, select the address you want to change, and click the [Edit] button, then change the values in the [E-mail Address] dialog box. To delete an e-mail address In the [Address Book] dialog box, select the address you want to delete, and click the [Remove] button. To import e-mail addresses from a file 1) Click the [Import] button. The [File Open] dialog box appears.
It is first necessary to export the address book from the other e-mail software, as a text file in CSV (comma separated value) format. For details, see the instructions for the e-mail software you are using.
2) In the [File Open] dialog box, click the [Browse] button. The [Select Folder] dialog box appears.
3) In the [Select Folder] dialog box, select the location of the file containing the e-mail addresses you want to import, and click the [OK] button. In the [File Open] dialog box, a list including the file with the e-mail addresses appears.
4) In the [File Open] dialog box, select the file of e-mail addresses you want to import, and click the [OK] button. The [Import Address] dialog box appears with Import Sheet showing the e-mail addresses and other relevant information.
5) In the [Import Address] dialog box, select the columns containing the names and e-mail addresses (if the names are in column A, select A, if the e-mail addresses are in column B, select B), and click the [OK] button. 6) In the [Import Address] dialog box, select the e-mail addresses you want to import, and click the [OK] button. This imports the selected e-mail addresses into the [Address Book] dialog box.
Repeat steps 2 to 3 as required, to set the e-mail addresses. In the [Address Book] dialog box, click the [OK] button. This saves the e-mail addresses in the address book.
To use the sound functions, your computer must have a speaker and sound card installed. For more details, refer to the operating instructions provided with your computer.
To select a sound file 1) Check the [Select File] box. 2) Click the [Browse] button. The [Select Sound] dialog box appears.
3) Select the [Album] or [Media] tab. 4) Click the w button, and select the album or folder containing the sound file. A list of sound files appears. 5) Select the sound file, and click the [Add] button. This adds the sound file to the list. 6) Click the [OK] button.
Click the [Preview] button. The slide show plays on the screen in the preview display area. When all the images have been shown, playback ends automatically.
Click the [Full Screen] button. This plays the slide show on the whole display screen. When you move the mouse, a controller comprising five playback control buttons (play,pause, previous, next, and stop) appears in the lower right of the monitor screen. To stop playback Click the stop button of the controller or press the Esc key.
Saving a slide show as a screen saver
After creating a slide show, click the [Screen Saver] button in the Slide Show window.
The screen saver function is not available in the Macintosh version. Only one screen saver can be created. Detailed settings for the screen saver follow the operating system settings.
Making a movie
After creating a slide show, click the [Create Movie] button. The [Save As] dialog box appears; enter the name and location to save the slide show in QuickTime movie format (*.mov). To change the movie settings In the [Save As] dialog box, click the [Options] button. The [Movie Settings] dialog box appears.
For each of the following settings, click the corresponding w button, and select a value. Frame Rate (default setting: 1 frame/second) Frame Size (default setting: 320 240)
Automatic Panorama Function
You can stitch two or more images together into a panorama image. Use the following procedure to automatically generate a panorama image.
Thumbnails To use this function, the images to be stitched together must have been shot with an Olympus digital camera in panorama mode. The thumbnails of images which can be stitched together in this way are shown with a. panorama icon
Click the Paste button. The copied area appears in the center of the displayed image. Drag the copied area to where you want to paste it. Hold down the mouse button on the copied area while moving it, then release the button when the copied area is in the correct position.
Use the Copy and Paste combination to copy a part of an image. You can also hold down the Ctrl key (Windows), or hold down the Option key (Macintosh), and drag the selected area for the same effect. Once data is copied to the clipboard, you can paste it any number of times. If you then copy or cut another selection to the clipboard, this overwrites the existing data.
Undoing an operation
If an operation does not produce the desired effect, you can undo it, returning the image to the previous state (for a maximum of 10 operations). To undo an operation, click the Undo button.
Redoing an operation
Immediately after you have undone an operation, you can redo it (for a maximum of 10 operations). To redo an operation, click the Redo button.
Saving an image
Saving by overwriting You can save an edited image file with the same name, overwriting the existing version. To do this, click the tool button [Save], and select [Save].
Saving with a different name You can save an edited image file with a different name. Use the following procedure to save a file with a new name.
Click the tool button [Save] and select [Save As].
The [Save As] dialog box appears.

Enter the file name and select the file format. If you select either of the following formats, you can set the image quality options. Exif-JPEG (*.jpg) JPEG (*.jpg) To set the image quality 1) Click the [Options] button. The [JPEG Setting] dialog box appears.
2) Click the button on the [JPEG Compression] pull-down list, and select the image quality from the following. High Quality Standard Quality Low Quality 3) Click the [OK] button.

There are two methods you can use to transfer images to OLYMPUS Master: Transfer from camera In the [Transfer Images (From Camera)] window, you can import image and movie files into OLYMPUS Master from a digital camera connected to the computer. Transfer from media In the [Transfer Images (From Media)] window, you can import image, movie, and sound files into OLYMPUS Master from a card-reader, storage media such as CD, DVD, and MO, or hard drive.
Tip You can also drag and drop the files you already have in your computer to import them into OLYMPUS Master. In the [Browse] window with calendar view, drag and drop files onto the tree display area or thumbnail area. A dialog box indicating that the files are being transferred to OLYMPUS Master.
You can also do the following by dragging and dropping files: - If you drag and drop files while holding down the Alt key (or Shift key and Ctrl key), you can transfer files as linked images. - If you drag and drop files while holding down the Shift key, you can transfer files to the location you specify in the [Default location to transfer files] setting in [Transfer Settings] (g page 291).
[Transfer Images] Menu
Clicking the [Transfer Images] button in the main menu displays the [Transfer Images] menu, allowing you to select whether to transfer files from a camera or media. The [Transfer Images] menu has the following components.

Description Displays the [Transfer Images (From Camera)] window. Displays the [Transfer Images (From Media)] window. Returns to the main menu.
[Transfer Images] Window
The thumbnails of all files in the selected folder are displayed in the thumbnail area, and the file name below each thumbnail.
Select the files you want to transfer. Configure the transfer settings (g page 42). Click the [Transfer Images] button.
The files are imported into the OLYMPUS Master database. When image transfer is complete, a confirmation message appears. If you click [Browse images now.], the [Browse] window appears.
Transfer Settings
OLYMPUS Master organizes the files within its database according to the date when the image was captured or created. You can view or play these files in the calendar view (g page 55) of the [Browse] window. When transferring from a media, you can also import files as linked images to avoid duplicate files. To configure transfer settings, follow the procedure below.
In [Transfer Settings] of the [Transfer Images] window, set the following options.

Alternatively, drag the mouse to select the range. Click [] to select keyword(s) to assign to the files from the [Assigning Keyword] list. To select keywords, you should register keywords first. You can also register keywords if you do not find an appropriate one in the list (Registering New Keywords g page 45). You can search files by the assigned keywords in the collection box of the [Browse] window.

Item [Transfer Destination] [Create Link to Images]
Description To transfer files to a specific folder, click [Create new folder with the current date] to deselect the option, and click [Browse] to specify the transfer destination (g page 44). Check this checkbox if you do not want to copy files into your computer. This option is available when you are importing files from media or within folders on your computer.
Notes If you move or delete linked files using Windows Explorer, etc., the link is lost and they cannot be displayed correctly in OLYMPUS Master. When a linked file is lost, a warning message appears in the [Browse] window. You may need to insert the removable media to the computer to print or e-mail images linked to files on a removable media. Do not select the [Create Link to Images] option when transferring images from cameras card.
Example of properties of print work files
Changing the Shooting Date
If an image file is in Exif-JPEG, Exif-TIFF or RAW format, or a movie is a QuickTime or MPEG4 movie, you can change the shooting date. For example, if you forgot to set the shooting date when you captured the image, or the battery has become exhausted and the date is reset, you can modify the shooting date of an image at a later time. This is also useful when you want to modify the time differences. To change the shooting date of a file, follow the procedure below.
In the [Browse] window, select the image or movie to change the shooting date. From the [Edit] menu, select [Edit Shooting Date]. Alternatively, click the [Shooting Date] button on the [General] tab in the properties area.
The [Edit Shooting Date] dialog box appears.
Set the new date and time.
To change the date, click the [] button to display the calendar. Select the month by clicking , then select the desired date. To change the time, click the hour, minute, or second in the edit box, then click the [] or [] button to set to the desired time. or
The shooting date and time is changed.
Changing the Shooting Date of Multiple Files in a Single Operation
You can change the shooting date of two or more image files in a single operation. You can also change the shooting time of selected files by modifying the time differences. To change the shooting date and time of selected files in a single operation, follow the procedure below.
In the [Browse] window, select the image or movie files to change the shooting date. From the [Edit] menu, select [Edit Shooting Date All].
The [Edit Shooting Date All] dialog box appears.
To change the date and time, click [Specify Date and Time], and set the new date and time.
To correct the differences in time, click [Adjust Time Differences], then click the [] button to set the time differences.
Tip You can set the time differences from 24 to +24, in 1 hour increments.
Playing Back Linked Sound
You can play back the sound linked to image files. When an image has linked sound, the sound icon appears in the upper right corner of the thumbnail image (marked with an asterisk in the illustration below).
To play back the linked sound, follow the procedure below. Select an image file, and click the sound icon on the thumbnail image. Select an image file, select [Linked Sound] from the [File] menu, and click [Play]. To stop the playback, click the sound icon again, or press the Esc key on the keyboard.
The selected file is reconnected to the missing file.
Reconnecting Using the [File] menu
In the [Browse] window, select the missing file you want to reconnect, and click [Reconnect Missing Files].
The [Reconnect Missing File] dialog box appears.
Organizing Files
Organizing Files in Calendar View Finding a File in Calendar View
You can perform search against the files in the OLYMPUS Master calendars by specifying the search conditions. You can specify multiple search conditions. When you perform a OLYMPUS Master calendar search, only the files imported into OLYMPUS Master are searched. To find a file in calendar view, follow the procedure below.
In the calendar view, select [Find] from the [File] menu. Alternatively, click [Find] on the toolbar.
The [Find] dialog box appears.
Check the checkboxes of the search conditions you want to use, and set the details for the search.

Tip You can assign keywords to the searched files from the collection box.
Writing Diary
When the [Browse] window is in the calendar view (g page 55), you can enter comments for each day of the calendar in the diary box (marked with an asterisk in the illustration below).
Your comments can be used like a diary or shooting memo of the day you captured the image. To select the date to write a diary and enter comments, follow the procedure below.
Do one of the following to display the diary box for the desired date.
Click the [Day] tab in the tree display area, and select the date for which you want to enter comments from the calendar tree. In the image display area, select the file with the date for which you want to enter comments. When the image display area is in the calendar display mode, select the desired date from the calendar.
Click in the diary box and enter comments using the keyboard.
Setting Keywords
When the [Browse] window is in the calendar view (g page 55), the list of keywords assigned to files is displayed in the collection box (marked with an asterisk in the illustration below).
You can perform a keyword search against the files displayed in the image display area of the [Browse] window. You can define the search range by selecting the calendar type. Clicking the [All] tab in the tree display area widens the search, allowing you to search against all files in OLYMPUS Master; clicking the [Day] tab and selecting a date from the calendar tree allows you to search only by the specified date. To perform a keyword search, place a check in the checkbox for the desired search condition. You can select two or more keywords to search by checking multiple checkboxes. For example, if you check the checkbox for keyword A and B, the files to which either keyword is assigned will be displayed in search result. To assign a keyword to a file, place a check in the checkbox for the keyword you want to assign, then drag and drop the thumbnail image from the image display area onto the desired keyword. Alternatively, drag and drop the desired keyword onto the thumbnail image in the image display area. To remove a keyword from the collection box, check the keyword you want to remove, and click the [Remove] button. To add a new keyword to the collection box, click the [New Keyword] button, and register the keyword in the [New Keyword] dialog box (g page 45).
This pastes a copy of the image you selected in step 1.

Converting Data Format
In the [Convert Format] window, you can convert the file format of multiple files in a single operation. You can resize images at the same time.
[Convert Format] Window
To open the [Convert Format] window, select [Convert Format] from the [File] menu in the [Browse] window. The [Convert Format] window has the following components.
Description Accesses the functions that can be used in the [Convert Format] window (g page 120). The toolbar contains the following buttons. You can hide or show the toolbar by selecting [Hide Toolbar] or [Show Toolbar] from the [View] menu. Menu Returns to the main menu. Browse Displays the [Browse] window (g page 46). Find Displays the [Find] dialog box (g page 101 and 107). Help Displays the Help information for the [Convert Format] window.
Thumbnail area
The thumbnail images of the files you selected from the calendar tree or folder tree in the [Browse] window are displayed. Select the files to convert the data format. If you select a file and click the [Add] button, its thumbnail is displayed in the image display area, as the file to convert the format.
Displays the thumbnail images of the files to convert the data format. If you select a thumbnail image and click the [Remove] button, the file is removed from the image display area.
Convert to format viewable on camera
Check this checkbox to convert the selected files into a format viewable on the LCD monitor of digital cameras. To view the converted images, transfer them to a media card, and load it in the digital camera. If this checkbox is checked, you cannot select the file format.
Format
Selects the file format by clicking the [] button. If you select either of the following formats, you can set JPEG Compression. Exif-JPEG (*.jpg) JPEG (*.jpg)
JPEG Compression
If you have selected Exif-JPEG or JPEG as the file format, set the image quality by clicking the [] button. The available options are: High Quality Standard Quality Low Quality
Resize
Check this checkbox to resize the image after format conversion.
Item Specify size
Description Specifies the size in pixels. Click the [] or [] button to adjust the values. You can also click the edit box, and directly enter a value using the keyboard. If you want to resize the image keeping the current aspect ratio, check the [Maintain Aspect Ratio] checkbox. When this is checked, setting either of the width and height automatically sets the other.
The [Save As] dialog box appears. If a single file is selected for format conversion, refer to Saving the Converted File with a Different Name (g page 123). If two or more files are selected for format conversion, refer to Saving Multiple Files in a Single Operation (g page 125).
Saving the Converted File with a Different Name
If a single file is selected for format conversion, clicking the [Convert] button displays the [Save As] dialog box. To save a converted file in OLYMPUS Master with a different name, follow the procedure below.
Set the following items.
Tip If you save a converted file using the [Calendar] tab of the [Save As] dialog box, the saved file will be registered in the OLYMPUS Master database, and you can view it in calendar view.
Item File Name Edit Registration Date
Description Specifies the file name for the image file you are saving. Check this checkbox to save the converted file with the registration date you define. Click the [] button to display the calendar. Select the month by clicking or , then select the desired date.
Tip To save a converted file in a specific folder, follow the procedure below.
Click the [Folder] tab.
Set the following items. File Name Specifies the file name for the image file you are saving. Register in OLYMPUS Master Check this checkbox to save a converted file in a specific folder and register it in OLYMPUS Master at the same time. The file will be registered in OLYMPUS Master with the shooting date (or the created date if the shooting date is not available). Location Clicking the [Browse] button displays the [Select Folder] dialog box. In the [Select Folder] dialog box, select the location to save the file, then click the [OK] button.
Click the [Save] button.
Tip When a file with the same name exists in the location you specified, a warning message (A file with the same name already exists in the same location. Please change either the location or file name) appears. Click [OK], and try specifying another location or file name.
Saving Multiple Files in a Single Operation
If two or more files are selected for format conversion, clicking the [Convert] button displays the [Save As] dialog box. You can rename and save two or more files in a single operation. The new name can be the prefix you specify followed by the sequential number (e.g. selected files 5, prefix OLMPS, digits 3, start from 101: OLMPS101, OLMPS102, OLMPS103, OLMPS104, OLMPS105). To save two or more converted files in OLYMPUS Master in a single operation, follow the procedure below.
Tip If you save converted files using the [Calendar] tab of the [Save As] dialog box, the saved files will be registered in the OLYMPUS Master database, and you can view them in calendar view.
Item Destination File Name
Description Selects from [Original Name] or [Base Name]. Select [Original Name] to save the file with the original name; select [Base Name] when you want to start all of the new names with the same stem. If a file does not have a shooting date, the date of the last update is used instead.
From the print setting panel of the [Calendar Print] window, click the [Calendar Settings] button.
The [Calendar Settings] dialog box appears.
In the [Calendar Settings] dialog box, set the following items.
Item Language Month Style Description Sets the language of the calendar (Current Language or English). Sets the month style (Long or Short). Example: Long: August Short: Aug Font Style Color Settings Sets the font of the calendar by clicking the [] button. You can select from the fonts installed on your computer. Sets the character style of the calendar (Regular, Bold, Italic) or Bold Italic by clicking the [] button. Sets the color for Sundays, Saturdays, Weekdays, and Selected Date. To set the color of the selected date, first click on the date in the calendar, then select the color by clicking the [] button.
The settings are applied to the calendar you created.
Creating and Printing a Postcard
You can create and print postcards using the templates. The postcards can contain images, texts and stamps. There are two ways to save the postcard you created: Save as a work file. (You can open and edit this file at a later time.) Save as an image file.
Creating and Printing a Postcard
To create and print a postcard with images you select, follow the procedure below.
From the [Tools] menu, select [Print], and click [Postcard]. Alternatively, click [Print] on the toolbar in the [Browse] window, then click [Postcard].
The [Postcard Print] window appears. If you access the [Postcard Print] window from the [Browse] window, the images in the selected calendar or folder appear in the thumbnail area.
If you do not find the images you want to use for the postcard in the thumbnail area, click the tree display button.
Item Orientation Templates Text Stamp Description Selects the paper orientation ([Portrait] or [Landscape]). Selects the style for the postcard (Basic, Greetings, etc.) and the layout by clicking the [] button. Sets the font and color for the text. Clicking the [Text] button displays the [Text] dialog box (g page 169). Sets the stamps to add to the postcard. Clicking the [Stamp] button displays the [Stamp] dialog box (g page 171).
From the thumbnail area, click the image you want to use for the postcard, and then click the [Add] button. Alternatively, drag an image from the thumbnail area onto the preview display area. If you want to use two or more images for the postcard, repeat step 5 to fill the layout with the images.
Tips To rotate an image, select the image you want to rotate in the preview display area, and click [Rotate] on the toolbar, then select [Clockwise 90], [Counterclockwise 90], or [180]. Alternatively, click [Rotate] from the [Edit] menu, and then select [Clockwise 90], [Counterclockwise 90], or [180]. To edit an image, select the image you want to edit in the preview display area, and click [Edit] on the toolbar to open the [Image Edit] window (g page 300). To delete an image, text, or stamp from the layout, select the image, text, or stamp you want to delete, and click the [Remove] button. To delete all images, texts, and stamps from the layout, select the entire layout and click [Delete].
Item Linked Sound Select BGM
Description Check this checkbox to play linked sounds in the slide show. When the image files have linked sound files, those files are played in the movie. Check this checkbox to play the endless loop background sound for the whole movie. Multiple sound files can be specified. Clicking the [BGM] button displays the [Select Sound] dialog box (g page 251).
Check this checkbox to display the file name of each image on the bottom-left of the image. Displays the shooting date of each image on the bottom-left of the image.
Do one of the following to place the image files you want to include in the movie, in the file registration area.
From the thumbnail area of the [Movie Maker] window, select the file to be included in the movie, and then click the [Add] button. From the thumbnail area of the [Movie Maker] window, click the [Add All] button. Drag and drop the selected files onto the file registration area. The selected file is displayed in the preview display area.
Repeat step 3 to put all the images you want to include in the movie into the image display area.
The [Save As] dialog box appears (g page 245).
Saving the Movie
To save the movie in OLYMPUS Master with a different name, follow the procedure below.
Tip If you save a movie using the [Calendar] tab of the [Save As] dialog box, the saved movie will be registered in the OLYMPUS Master database, and you can view it in calendar view.

Set the following items. File Name Sets the file name for the movie. Format Selects the file format for the movie. The QuickTime movie format (*.mov) is available. Register in OLYMPUS Master Check this checkbox to save a movie in a specific folder and register it in OLYMPUS Master at the same time. The file will be registered in OLYMPUS Master with the shooting date (or the created date if the shooting date is not available). Location Clicking the [Browse] button displays the [Select Folder] dialog box. In the [Select Folder] dialog box, select the location to save the movie, then click the [OK] button. If you want to create a new folder, click [New Folder].
Creating Title Page of the Movie
Inserting a Title to the Movie You can set the font, size, color, etc., of the title to insert in the title page of the movie. The preview of the title page is displayed at the center of the preview display area.
In the movie setting panel, check the [Create Title Page] checkbox, and then click the [Title] button.
Creating a CD/DVD Album of HTML Albums
To create a CD/DVD album, follow the procedure below.
From the [Tools] menu, select [CD/DVD Album]. Alternatively, click the [CD/ DVD Album] button at the [Crate and Share] menu in the main menu.
The [CD/DVD Album] window appears.
In the tree display area of the [CD/DVD Album] window, select the date or folder containing the image(s) you want to include in the HTML album, or the keyword in the collection box assigned to the image(s) to be included, then click the [Add] button. Repeat step 2 to list the group of images (albums) to save in a CD-R or DVD-R in the image display area.
Tips To change the order of HTML albums in the CD/DVD album, do the following in the image display area: Select a group of files and click the [] button. The group of files moves up; Select a group of files and click the [] button. The group of files moves down. You can also drag and drop a group of files to the desired position to change the order. To remove a group of images from the image display area, select the group you want to remove, and click the [Remove] button.
In the CD/DVD album setting panel, set the following items:
Item CD Album Saves the HTML album in a CD. If you select this option, the HTML album cannot be saved in the DVD. Select the disk size of the CD you are using by clicking the [] button. DVD Album Title Comments Edit title of each album Saves the HTML album in a DVD. If you select this option, the HTML album cannot be saved in the CD. Enters the title for the CD/DVD album. Enters comments for the CD/DVD album. If you want to edit the title for each album, select the group of image files (album) to edit the title, and click the [Title] button. Then the [Title] dialog box appears (g page 258). Description
Click the [Create] button.
A CD/DVD writing software launches. Then, follow the instructions in the image display area. The HTML albums of the group of images in the image display area are created, and they are saved in a CD-R, DVD-R, etc.
Inserting a Title to the Album
In the image display area of the [CD/DVD Album] window, select an album for which you want to edit the title. Click the [Edit title for each album] button in the CD/DVD album setting panel.
The [Title] dialog box appears.
In the [Title] dialog box, enter the title for the album.
The name of the selected group of files (albums) is displayed as the default title.
The title is inserted to the selected album.
Tip To insert titles for the other album, repeat steps 1 to 4.
Creating a Video CD of a Slide Show
In the [Video CD] window, you can create a slide show of your favorite pictures and write it into a CD-R, etc., to create a video CD.
Setting Options for OLYMPUS Master
In the [Options] dialog box, you can customize certain settings for OLYMPUS Master. To display the [Options] dialog box, select [Options] from the [Tools] menu, or click the [Options] button in the main menu. After all settings are complete, click the [OK] button to apply settings to OLYMPUS Master. If you click the [Cancel] button, the settings you made are canceled.
[General]
To perform general settings, select [General] in the [Item] list box.
[Select Skin]
Selects the skin for the entire OLYMPUS Master from the [Select Skin] pull-down list. A skin determines the overall design of the softwares graphic user interface.
[Display Main Menu at Start-up]
Selects whether to display the main menu when OLYMPUS Master starts up. To display the main menu when the software starts up, check this checkbox. If you choose not to display the main menu, the software automatically displays the [Browse] window.
[Use Animated Display]
Selects whether to use the animated display function. When this option is on, animation effects are used to display thumbnails in the calendar view and to switch the display of images in view mode.
[Register Applications]
To register applications, select [Register Applications] in the [Item] list box.
Registers applications for editing images and movies. When you select an image file or movie file except for the MPEG4 movies in the [Browse] window (g page 46), and select [Launch Registered Application] from the [Edit] menu, the application you registered in this dialog box launches.
[Edit images with]
Click the [Browse] button, and in the [Select Folder] dialog box, select the application software you want to use for editing images.
[Edit movies with]
Click the [Browse] button, and in the [Select Folder] dialog box, select the application software you want to use for editing movies.
[MPEG4 Settings]
To perform MPEG4 settings, select [MPEG4 Settings] in the [Item] list box.
You can register the applications for playing back and editing the MPEG4 movies.
[Play back MPEG4 with]
Cutting and Pasting Part of an Image
If you cut an area from an image, the cut out area is deleted from the image and placed in the clipboard (temporary storage space). You can paste the clipboard data to other places any number of times. When you cut out or copy another area, the clipboard data is replaced with the newly cut out or copied data.
Using the selection buttons on the toolbar, select the area you want to cut from the image (g page 309). Click [Cut] on the toolbar.
The selected area is deleted from the image, and placed in the clipboard.
Click [Paste] in the toolbar.
The cut out area appears in the center of the image.
Drag the cut out area to the position you want to paste it, holding down the mouse button on it. Release the button when the cut area is in the desired position.
Pasting is complete.
Tip You can also drag and drop the selected area to obtain the same effect.
Copying and Pasting Part of an Image
If you copy an area of an image, it is placed in the clipboard (temporary storage space). You can paste the clipboard data to other places any number of times. When you copy or cut another area, the clipboard data is replaced with the newly copied or cut out area.
Using the selection buttons on the toolbar, select the area you want to copy from the image (g page 309). Click [Copy] on the toolbar.
The selected area is copied from the image, and placed in the clipboard.
Click [Paste] on the toolbar.
The copied area appears in the center of the image.
Drag the copied area to the position you want to paste it, holding down the mouse button on it. Release the button when the copied area is in the desired position.
Tip You can also hold down the Ctrl key (for Windows), or hold down the Option key (for Macintosh), and drag the selected area to obtain the same effect.
Undoing an Operation
If an operation did not produce the desired effect, you can undo it, returning the image to the previous state (for a maximum of 10 operations).
To undo an operation, click [Undo] on the toolbar.
Redoing an Operation
Immediately after you have undone an operation, you can redo it (for a maximum of 10 operations).
To redo an operation, click [Redo] on the toolbar.
Saving an Image
There are two options when saving an image. Saving by overwriting You can save an edited image file with the same name and file format, overwriting the existing version. Saving with a different name You can save an edited image file with a different name and file format.
Saving by Overwriting
The brightness and tone of the image in the image display area is adjusted.
Adjusting Brightness and Contrast
You can adjust the overall brightness of the image (brightness), and the intensity range between the lightest and darkest parts of the image (contrast). To adjust the brightness and contrast of an image, follow the procedure below.
From the [Filter] menu in the [Image Edit] window, select [Brightness & Contrast].
The edit setting panel shows the [Brightness & Contrast] options.
Drag the [Brightness] slider to adjust the brightness of the image. Drag the [Contrast] slider to adjust the contrast of the image.
The brightness and contrast of the image in the image display area are adjusted.
Adjusting the Hue, Saturation, and Lightness
You can adjust the following three color parameters. Hue : Basic color tone Saturation : Degree of purity of colors Lightness : Grayscale intensity To adjust the hue, saturation and lightness of an image, follow the procedure below.
From the [Filter] menu in the [Image Edit] window, select [Hue & Saturation].
The edit setting panel shows the [Hue & Saturation] options.
Drag the [Hue] slider to adjust the hue of the image. Drag the [Saturation] slider to adjust the saturation of the image. Drag the [Lightness] slider to adjust the lightness of the image.
Tips You can also click the edit box and directly enter a value using the keyboard. Press the Return key after entering a value. The setting ranges are as follows: - Hue : -180 to +180 - Saturation and Lightness: -100 to +100
The hue, saturation, and lightness of the image in the image display area are adjusted.
Adjusting the Color Balance
You can adjust the balance of the red, green, and blue primary colors to reproduce natural colors. To adjust the color balance of an image, follow the procedure below.
From the [Filter] menu in the image edit window, select [Color Balance]. Alternatively, click [Color Balance] on the toolbar in the image edit window.
The edit setting panel shows the [Color Balance] options.
Drag the [Red] slider to adjust the amount of red in the image. Drag the [Green] slider to adjust the amount of green in the image. Drag the [Blue] slider to adjust the amount of blue in the image.

Shows the elapsed time during playback. Starts the playback. Steps to the previous frame. Steps to the next frame. Stops the playback. Repeats the playback. Displays the volume control slider (g page 71). Undoes the last operation. You can undo an operation only. Restores the last operation removed by an undo. You can redo an operation only. Resizes the movie to fit the movie display area. Displays the movie at the actual size.

Displaying the Image at Actual Size
You can display the selected movie at its actual size.
Click the [Actual Size] button on the movie control panel.
Displaying the Image to Fit the Window
You can display the selected movie to fit the image display area so that the entire movie is displayed on the screen.
To Display the Image to Fit the Window
Click the [Fit-to-Window] button on the movie control panel.
If an operation did not produce the desired effect, you can undo it, returning the movie to the previous state (for a maximum of 1 operation).
To undo an operation, click the [Undo] button.
Immediately after you have undone an operation, you can redo it (for a maximum of 1 operation).
To redo an operation, click the [Redo] button.
Saving a Movie
There are two options when saving a movie. Saving by overwriting You can save an edited movie file with the same name and file format, overwriting the existing version. Saving with a different name You can save an edited movie file with a different name and file format.
From the [File] menu in the [Movie Edit] window, select [Save]. Alternatively, click [Save] on the toolbar, and then select [Save].
The edited movie file is saved overwriting the existing file.
To save an edited movie file in OLYMPUS Master with a different name, follow the procedure below.
From the [File] menu in the [Movie Edit] window, select [Save As]. Alternatively, click [Save] on the toolbar, and then select [Save As].
Tip If you save an edited movie using the [Calendar] tab of the [Save As] dialog box, the saved movie will be registered in the OLYMPUS Master database, and you can view it in calendar view.
